Big Brodus Clay getting funky
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

I didn’t think the Santino Marella character would work.

I thought Eugene would fall flat on his face.

And I thought The Spirit Squad was ridiculous.

All three times, I was wrong.

I also thought Mae Young birthing a hand and Triple H sacking out with a corpse was ridiculous, just to prove I’m not always wrong.

But I was more than a bit surprised when the much-hyped Brodus Clay came out to the ring on Monday. Surely, he’d interfere in a match. Destroy two or three guys. But wait a second, I guess that’s what Mark Henry does.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when big Brodus became The Funkasaurus. A dancing, funking machine.

WWE did this kind of thing with Akeem The African Dream a long time ago. I believed that Akeem had been doing just fine as the One Man Gang. But he became a hipster. I guess calling Akeem by his real name, George Gray, wasn’t going to sell any T-shirts.

On the surface, I think the idea of The Funkasaurus is a career killer. But, who knows, maybe everybody will be buying shirts with colourful dancing dinosaurs. And with WWE, it is all about the money.

AROUND THE RING

WWE has named two more inductees into its Hall of Fame: Edge and The Four Horsemen. It’ll be interesting to see if Nature Boy Ric Flair, currently in TNA, walks down the aisle at the induction ceremony ... Gossip blogger Perez Hilton will appear on RAW Monday as a guest ref in a Divas match ... Sooner or later, Chris Jericho will say something again. The way his return is going, it may be later.
