WWE NXT: Relationship acceleration station
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: Who says wrestling isn't like real life anymore? I mean, in real life, you always date a girl for one week and then whisk her away to Las Vegas to get married, right? Right? Well, it might not work for us normal folk, but Johnny Curtis is not normal as he and Maxine drop a bomb on Derrick Bateman. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Little Rock, Ark. Josh Mathews and William Regal are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Right off the bat, Mathews asks if we will find WWE's next breakout star this year. I laughed.

Striker is in the ring and announces Derrick Bateman will face Darren Young tonight. He also reminds us we are coming up on 100 episodes of NXT and welcomes back another NXT alum. From Season 2, here is Michael McGillicutty.

Striker congratulates McGillicutty on winning a tag title after leaving NXT, but he gets no sold. McGillicutty says this show sucks. He says the show gave him nothing. He says he's accomplished what he has not because of NXT, but because he does what he wants when he wants. He says no one is going to stop him from becoming a success in this company. Then he is interrupted by Alex Riley, another Season 2 alum.

Riley asks McGillicutty what happened to him. He says the only way to earn respect is in the ring with your bare hands. He says if McGillicutty is looking for respect, how about he starts with him right now. McGillicutty pie faces him and they start brawling and Striker yells for a ref.

Match #1 - Alex Riley (Washington, DC) vs. Michael McGillicutty (Minneapolis, Minn.)

Riley off the second turnbuckle with a face-first DDT for a two count. McGillicutty reverses Riley and sends him to the outside. As Riley tries to re-enter the ring, McGillicutty spears him to the floor and Riley is down.

McGillicutty in control as we return. McGillicutty in complete control here. He works a modified chin lock and then transitions it into a more traditional one. Riley fires out and hits a big spinebuster, but McGillicutty hits a Saito suplex for two. McGillicutty goes to the top but Riley crotches him. Riley jumps up and delivers a big throw off the top rope for two.

But McGillicutty doesn't have much left, as Riley is able to hoist him up and deliver the TKO and that is all she wrote.

Winner via pinfall: Alex Riley

Bateman is talking to Kaitlyn backstage. He says he's done with Maxine when Maxine and Johnny Curtis come up. Kaitlyn calls Maxine a hussy. Bateman says he's looking forward to watching Curtis and Maxine go down in flames. He says he's not going to be there when she comes crawling back. She says he'll regret crossing her. She she makes out with Curtis. Maxine and Bateman leave and Curtis asks Kaitlyn, "Sup?"

Match #2 - Maxine (Tampa, Fla.) vs. Kaitlyn (Houston, Texas)

Kaitlyn with a slam and then a leg drop for two. The momentum doesn't last long as Maxine locks in a standing Dragon Sleeper and Kaitlyn has to tap.

Winner via submission: Maxine

Match #3 - Trent Barreta (Mount Sinai, NY) vs. Curt Hawkins (Queens, NY)

Hawkins with a clothesline and he takes over. He works a headlock but Barreta fires out of it and hits a nice dropkick. Hawkins, though, drops down and chops Barreta's leg out from under him. Barreta, though, kicks Hawkins back and then hits a big flip dive to the outside.

Back in the ring, Barreta hits a tornado DDT and that is it.

Winner via pinfall: Trent Barreta

Match #4 - Darren Young (Miami, Fla.) vs. Derrick Bateman (Cleveland, Ohio)

Bateman gets off to a hot start but Young quickly takes the match over by hitting a side suplex right on the ring apron. Young works a leg scissors and a headlock but Bateman easily escapes. Young with some uppercuts in the corner but Bateman hits a back elbow and then throws Young into the ring post shoulder-first.

With Young having rolled to the outside, Bateman comes off the apron with a nice dropkick. They head back into the ring and Bateman hits a running spinning neckbreaker but as he covers, Maxine and Curtis come out. She's got a mic and announces that in two weeks, they'll be getting married in Las Vegas. Curtis exclaims they're in love. Bateman finally gives in to the distraction and that allows Young to hit his finish.

Winner via pinfall: Darren Young
