Impact: Roode gets to Styles after tag match
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Impact Wrestling: With just a few short days before Final Resolution, two of that show's biggest matches are combined here tonight, as TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode teams with Jeff Jarrett to face AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy. Also on the show, Kurt Angle and James Storm go face-to-face before their match Sunday.

Tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Fla. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Sting is out to start the show. He calls Bobby Roode to the ring. Did they just put in a tape of last week's show? Sting says Roode still has some consequences to deal with and calls Dixie Carter to the ring. Sting says Roode owes Carter an apology for what happened several weeks back. Roode says he will apologize, but wants some space to do it the right way.

Roode says he's sorry for not being completely honest with her. He says things are different now and he's not scared to say anything because he's the champion and she needs him. Then he makes some jokes about the Bobby Roode Express and how Dixie isn't woman enough to last the whole ride. At this point, Sting interjects himself. Roode continues and tells Carter she couldn't run a lemonade stand, let alone a wrestling company. He says whether Dixie likes, or Sting likes it, he is the leader of TNA. Then he spits in Dixie's face. Uh, what? He runs away before Sting can get to him.

Match #1 - Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa) vs. Abyss (Parts Unknown)

I don't like Joe's chances in this one. He controls the first 30 seconds or so until he hits Joe with a big boot.

We're back and it's Joe who is in control. He hits a back splash, which Taz compares to a big bathtub landing on you. Joe goes to the second rope but Abyss catches him coming down. Joe elbows his way out but Abyss hits two clotheslines and then goes for another choke slam but Joe stomps his foot and hits a kick and then a knee in the corner. Joe puts Abyss in the corner and then Scott Steiner comes out and distracts the ref and Bully Ray hits Joe with his chain. Abyss hits a choke slam and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Abyss

Steiner and Ray get in the ring and celebrate with him, trying to get him back in Immortal. Except as Steiner leaves, Abyss grabs him for a Black Hole Slam. Then he stalks Ray but he smartly bails.

Devon and The Pope are out. They want to speak with Matt Morgan and Crimson.

Devon runs down his illustrious tag team history. He says Morgan and Crimson have what it takes to be No. 1 for a long time, but they have to understand that he and Pope are now a tag team and he's expecting them to bring their best because they will be. Testify, brother, and may the best team win. They shake hands and the music plays, but Pope asks for it to be cut.

Pope says Morgan and Crimson are two of the biggest, dumbest guys they've come across in some time. He says with the belts comes money and he's going to do whatever it takes to get the titles, no matter how low he has to go.

Pope goes to leave but Morgan pulls him back and the brawl it on. Morgan mounts Pope and just goes to town. Devon tries to pull him off but Crimson starts attacking him. They brawl to the back. Morgan gets off Pope and goes to leave but Pope low blows him and starts to beat on him. He calls Devon's sons over the guard rail and asks them to help. They put the boots to Morgan until Morgan stands and chases all three of them off.

Match #2 - Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.) vs. Mickie James (Richmond, Va.)

Mickie goes for the top-rope Thesz Press but Madison moves and kicks her in the face. Madison in control until Mickie plants her with the jumping DDT and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Mickie James

Match #3 - Gunner (Atlanta, Ga.) vs. Garett Bischoff (Clearwater Beach, Fla.)

Bischoff runs wild early until Gunner hits a vicious back-elbow. Gunner boots him to the outside and runs him into the post. And again. Back in the ring and Gunner continues the beating. But Bischoff grabs a single leg out of nowhere and rolls him up.

Winner via pinfall: Garett Bischoff

Gunner loses it after the match. He grabs Bischoff and starts beating the heck out of him. He shoves the referee away and then sends Bischoff to the outside. He throws him into the steel steps and goes to piledrive him on the floor when Eric Bischoff runs out and tells him to stop. Only, it's a swerve, and Eric wants him to deliver the piledriver on the floor and rolls back the protective mat himself.

Garett Bischoff is being stretchered out and taken away in an ambulance and Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair laugh.

James Storm is out. He tells Kurt Angle if he has anything to say to come down and say it to his face. Angle comes out smirking. He says he's surprised he didn't give himself a concussion because he hit Storm so hard. He tells Storm he'll be well-prepared Sunday at Final Resolution because he thinks about him morning, noon and night. Storm says this kind of creeps him out.

Storm says a lot of people are intimidated by Angle before they even get in the ring. Storm goes over a list of hardships he's been through and tells Angle death doesn't scare him and Angle doesn't intimidate him. He says after he hits Angle with the Last Call Superkick, he's going to put his boot on Angle's head and crush it like a beer can. He says Angle likes to attack people from behind, so he's going to turn around and if Angle feels froggy, he can jump. He turns around and Angle doesn't do anything. Storm tells him it's real, it's damn real.

Match #4 - Traci Brooks (St. Mary's, Ontario) vs. Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario)

Gail asks Traci to lay down for her. She does but kicks out at two and it's on. She scoops her up and takes her down and we have a match. Traci is running wild here. She hits a big spear when Karen Jarrett comes running down and yells at Traci to get out of the ring now. Traci grabs Karen and goes to punch her but the referee steps in. In the chaos, Madison Rayne comes in from behind and clocks Traci with the belt and Gail pins her.

Winner via pinfall: Gail Kim

Match #5 - Jeff Hardy (Cameron, NC) & AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.) vs. Jeff Jarrett (Hendersonville, Tenn.) & Bobby Roode (Toronto, Ontario)

Styles comes down on his leg hard on a springboard and that's what Roode and Jarrett focus on as they isolate Styles away from Hardy. Styles, though, hits a modified Pele and Roode is out. Styles inches closer to the tag but Jarrett runs across and knocks Hardy off the apron. This sets Hardy off and he comes down and pounds away. They brawl to near the back and then into the back.

In the ring, Roode locks in a single-leg crab on Styles. Styles fights it and gets the bottom rope. Styles pulls himself up in the corner as Roode argues with the referee. Roode charges but Styles gets a foot up. He starts going to work now. Big back drop. He goes to put Roode on his shoulders but his leg gives out and Roode hits the Double R Spinebuster.

Roode goes for the Perfect Plex but Styles counters into a small package and gets the pin.

Winners via pinfall: AJ Styles & Jeff Hardy

Roode attacks Styles after the match but Styles hits a big punch that sends Roode to the outside and then a slingshot crossbody. Roode scatters to the back and Styles starts to celebrate, but Roode comes running back out and clips the bad leg. He runs Styles' leg into a truss and stands over him and tells Styles he can't beat him.
