Never say that WWE isn't full of surprises.

Today, seemingly out of nowhere, the company announced that Lillian Garcia will be rejoining the company as in-ring announcer for SmackDown.

The announcement came via wwe.com earlier today, and via her Facebook Fan Page, Lillian followed up with an enthusiastic statement.

"Yes! It's true!! All happening so fast! I am returning to WWE as the SmackDown Announcer!! So excited!!" Garcia wrote.

At this time, WWE has not made any statement about the status of Tony Chimel, who had previously been acting as the in-ring announcer for the Friday night brand.

Garcia previously was a part of WWE from 1999 to 2009, primarily as in-ring announcer on Raw and WWE pay-per-views. On occasion, she acted as a backstage interviewer as well.

Garcia was also, on rare occasions, used in storylines, including an angle where she was portrayed as Viscera's love interest.

Garcia left WWE in September 2009, making two appearances in a WWE ring in her time away from the Fed, including one appearance while regular Raw announcer Justin Roberts was stuck in Europe along with several roster members.

Alongside her WWE announcing, Garcia has performed the American national anthem at several football games and has recorded two albums. She was also the voice behind former WWE Diva Torrie Wilson's theme music.
