WWE NXT: Another wedding on tap!
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: After last year's successful wedding between Goldust and Aksana, I guess WWE said, "Hey, let's do it again." Tonight, NXT's power couple, Derrick Bateman and Maxine, get engage after Bateman's main event match with Titus O'Neil. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Houston, Texas. Jack Korpela and William Regal are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Striker is in the ring with Titus O'Neil, Percy Watson, JTG, Derrick Bateman and Maxine. Striker says only two rookies remain, which is news to me because they still show Darren Young in the show intro.

Striker says there's going to be plenty of time for talking because Bateman and O'Neil are going to have a Talk the Talk Challenge and Bateman is up first.

Bateman starts out by immediately making fun of Texas. Then he talks about football and says if you want to see real football, just go up the road to Dallas. I don't think these types of comments are going to get the crowd to vote for him. Bateman says he's the only one on this season of NXT who has shown he can run with the ball. Bateman says he's sure O'Neil is going to take the mic and go for the cheap pop, but he doesn't care about the WWE Universe, he caters to an audience of one, and he calls Maxine over and they kiss.

O'Neil takes the time to tell about how he lost two grandmothers to breast cancer, which is why he's wearing the pink trunks that Bateman made fun of. I bet he feels stupid now. He says his journey started a long time ago here in Houston and he's dominated this competition from start to now and he deserves to be on Raw or Smackdown.

Of course, O'Neil runs away with the challenge victory.

O'Neil says if he's won every challenge, he wants to issue one himself. He tells Bateman to find a girlfriend who looks like she should be in the ring and not in an aquarium. Then Watson goes in on JTG, making fun of his attire and chain, so JTG punches Watson square in the face. They want to brawl but Striker breaks it up and says in tonight's main event, Bateman faces O'Neil. Then he books Watson against JTG right now.

Match #1 - Percy Watson (Miami, Fla.) vs. JTG (Brooklyn, NY)

Watson sends JTG to the outside and follows up after him with a punch and then throws him back in the ring. As he enters, JTG pounces and starts clubbing him with blows.

We're back and Watson has turned things around and is going to work on JTG. He lands a body slam and then a double leg drop for two. Running clothesline connects for Watson. Watson ends up on the apron and JTG knocks him off. Then he stalks him on the outside and hits a clothesline on the floor. Back in the ring, JTG hits a swinging neckbreaker for two. JTG goes to the top but comes down into a boot to the face.

Watson up with a big dropkick, he follows with a splash and then a flapjack and that is enough to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Percy Watson

Match #2 - Jey Uso (San Francisco, Calif.) vs. Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta)

Uso gets Kidd in the tree of woe and comes off the ropes with a big headbutt. Kidd, though, takes control and uses a headlock to keep Uso grounded. They get back to a vertical base and Uso hits a cross body block and then an uppercut. Kidd escapes a bad predicament but runs right into a superkick. Uso takes a ton of time and goes to the top, where Curt Hawkins distracts him. He goes for the splash but Kidd gets his knees up. He stands and hits the spinning fisherman's suplex for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Tyson Kidd

Kidd and Hawkins beat up the Usos until Yoshi Tatsu makes the save.

Match #3 - Kaitlyn (Houston, Texas) vs. Tamina (Pacific Islands)

Tamina in control but out of nowhere, Kaitlyn reverses a Samoan drop attempt into a sunset flip and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Kaitlyn

Match #4 - Titus O'Neil (Tampa, Fla.) vs. Derrick Bateman (Cleveland, Ohio)

On the floor, Bateman drops O'Neil with a running dropkick off the apron and gets right up in his face. Bateman in control in the ring but O'Neil hits a jawbreaker and then a shoulder block. Two shoulder blocks for O'Neil and then he lands a clothesline and fires up.

O'Neil with a back elbow. He goes for a shoulder block for the second rope but Bateman sidesteps him and pins him with an O'Conner Roll.

Winner via pinfall: Derrick Bateman

Bateman gets on the mic after and says this is the greatest day of his entire life. He says, not only did he conquer his greatest foe, he says he's loved Maxine ever since he saw her on Season 3. He says he has an important question for her. He drops to a knee and asks her to marry him.

Maxine slaps him so hard and then starts making out with him. Then she says yes. This was awesome.
