When Mil Mascaras was inducted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in June 2010, his induction speech was brief, especially compared to the man who inducted him, "The Destroyer" Dick Beyer.

The two masked men had met a number of times during their storied careers.

"The Destroyer and I wrestle, I don't know how many times, maybe 20 times, different parts of the United States, Japan," said Mascaras at the ceremony, bragging how he was still wrestling after more than 40 years, and had, in fact, worked the previous weekend.

"Of all the wrestlers that I ever wrestled against, Mil Mascaras was the toughest, best-conditioned wrestler," said The Destroyer. "And I want to tell you this: When I want to watch a wrestling match at home, I take out a wrestling match where I wrestled against Mil Mascaras. And I can still get excited because Mil Mascaras was a wrestler who never gave you a hold. I learned quick that if he wasn't going to give me a hold, I wasn't going to give him a hold. We went 60 minutes in Japan, and in the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, with the same type of match. We never talked. We never talked in the ring. It just came as the match went along."

So, with the announcement at Raw in Mexico City by Triple H that Mascaras is the first announced inductee for the WWE's Hall of Fame comes the speculation over who will do the honours WrestleMania weekend in Miami.

Will it be The Destroyer again? Unlikely.

A better bet would be his nephew, Alberto del Rio -- the son of another Mexican lucha legend, Dos Caras.

With the Mascaras announcement, photographer Mike Lano dug through his archives for some great photos of "The Man with 1,000 Masks."

Enjoy!
