Bret Hart returns as guest ref
By DALE DE RUITER - Calgary Sun
CALGARY - Bret Hart will be returning to the ring in front of his hometown fans to be the special guest referee in the Randy Orton vs. Christian WWE Smack Down Street Fight Tuesday at the Saddledome.
Hart is not too worried about the brutal feud Orton and Cage have had over the past few months.
"I've always thought of myself as a pretty capable guy in the confines of a wrestling setting. I'm pretty comfortable," Hart said.
"I'm always flattered and honoured that the WWE gives me a chance to be part of things, especially in my hometown. I was quite happy to get the call, and I'm looking forward to the whole thing."
You'll be seeing Hart around town more often in the near future because his wife has gone back to school here, so Hart doesn't want to take off to Hawaii for the winters like he'd hoped.
"In a perfect world, I'd like to spend from January to July in Hawaii and come back and enjoy the best part of living in Calgary from June to December. That was my taking on the whole idea of the place in Hawaii," Hart said. "I don't do so well in the cold anymore.
"I have been affected by my stroke which makes me a little weaker on one side, and a lot of times when you're lifting and training and stuff, I'm doing things that are off balance. You do get a lot of aches and pains, and I do have arthritic issues in my joints.
"I understand that everything I went through in wrestling, none of it was easy, and I do pay for a lot of what I did years ago as far as wrestling and the physicalities and all those bodyslams and all those turnbuckles."
Despite the aches and pains, though, Hart says he's enjoying life.
"I'm lucky to say I feel pretty good about where I am in life right now. I feel good. I'm pretty healthy."
