WWE NXT: Pole match headlines show
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: It's 2011 and WWE is borrowing a page from the Vince Russo Wrestling Booking Playbook. Tonight's main event is none other than a pole match. And not just any pole match. It's an Action Figure Leg Necklace on a Pole Match between Tyson Kidd and Yoshi Tatsu. I cannot make this up. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Philadelphia. Todd Grisham and William Regal are our commentators and Matt Striker and Maryse are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - Titus O'Neil (Tampa, Fla.) vs. Derrick Bateman (Cleveland, Ohio)

O'Neil getting the best of Bateman early, so Bateman takes a walk. Then Darren Young walks down the ramp and comes up to Bateman and says, "take him out. Do your work!" Bateman seems to be receptive to this advice.

We're back and Bateman is in control. Headlock for Bateman and O'Neil slams his way out of it. Bateman goes to the top rope for a crossbody but O'Neil sidesteps it and basically swats him out of the air. Now O'Neil goes to work. He hits Bateman with a back elbow and Bateman slightly runs into the ref, allowing Young to hold O'Neil's boot as he tries to charge out. Bateman takes advantage, drilling a dropkick into O'Neil's back as he is distracted. He follows that up with a bulldog and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Derrick Bateman

Hornswaggle is walking backstage with his stuff animal he got last week and is following a candy trail and then finds a note that says if he closes his eyes, he'll get a big surprise. He closes his eyes and out from behind the curtain comes AJ. She gives him a big kiss and Maryse comes and says they're perfect. She gets all catty and AJ

Elsewhere backstage, Vladimir Kozlov is planking on top of a vending machine. Yes, he's planking. He tells JTG of all the places he's planked today. Wow. No words for this.

Match #2 - Action Figure Leg Necklace on a Pole Match - Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta) vs. Yoshi Tatsu (Tokyo, Japan)

Hot start with both men going for the leg. Now they both take a spill to the floor where Kidd hits a snap suplex. Tatsu lights him up with some chops and a few kicks. Then he hits double knees that sandwich Kidd between the knees and the steps/post. They go back into the ring and both men are looking for the necklace but both guy flying off the turnbuckle and to the floor.

We're back and Kidd is in control. He puts Tatsu in a Boston Crab through the ropes. Wow. Regal marked out. Kidd climbs for the necklace but Tatsu is able to pull him down. Both men down now. Tatsu climbing up and he goes for the necklace but Kidd crotches him at the last second. Now both men are standing on the top rope. They are slugging away and Tatsu pulls it off right as Kidd delivers a side suplex to him off the top rope. That's it.

Winner: Yoshi Tatsu

After the match, Tatsu is celebrating when Kidd attacks. He posts his knee and then drops him knee-first on the announce table. He grabs the entire action figure. Then he locks in a Figure Four around the post and it takes two referees to pull him off.
