WWE NXT: Competition of Maryse's affection continues
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: The supporting cast is driving this show. Host Maryse continues to have both Yoshi Tatsu and Lucky Cannon vie for her affection and she gets some more evidence tonight as both men compete. Elsewhere, Jacob Novak continues to taunt William Regal, even going so far as to push him. How would Regal respond? Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from London, England. Josh Mathews and William Regal are our commentators and Maryse is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Maryse introduces the NXT rookies. She says this next challenge, the Pull-Through Challenge, is worth two redemption points. It's a tug of war on a jousting platform. Conor O'Brian beats Byron Saxton and he goes flying off the inflatable deal and into a light on the stage. Everyone laughs. Next up is Darren Young against Jacob Novak. This is controversial but it is deemed Young's feet hit first, so Novak advances. Finally we've got Titus O'Neil against Lucky Cannon. Cannon, naturally, makes a mockery of the competition. He holds the very end of the rope, leaving a ton of slack, so O'Neil goes to bring in the slack but goes past the mid-point of the rope, which is a no-no, and is disqualified. Wow. Just when you thought Cannon couldn't possibly be any worse.

Now Maryse picks one of the three to get a bye to the final and she picks Cannon because he was the most obnoxious. So we've got Novak against O'Brian. O'Brian basically eliminates himself here but pulling too hard and falling backwards.

So we're down to Novak and Cannon in the final. Cannon again makes a mockery of the competition. He pulls for a bit then throws the rope into Novak's face and pushes him off. He is disqualified.

JTG and Novak are in the ring. Novak cuts an anti-England promo and the crowd chants "Who are ya?" Novak turns his attention to Regal and says all Regal has been doing lately is talking. Novak challenges him to stand up and fight for his country. Before Regal can do anything, O'Brian comes out on the stage and says if Novak wants a fight, he'll give one to him. He says his actions speak louder than words and his actions are going to shut him up.

Match #1 - Jacob Novak vs. Conor O'Brian

Big counter boot lands to the skull for Novak. Novak goes and shouts at Regal. Crowd chants "Regal!" O'Brian almost has Novak with a roll-up but just stops counting for some reason. That was odd. Novak takes over, looking at Regal with every punch. He goes for a suplex, but O'Brian rolls him up and pins him.

Winner via pinfall: Conor O'Brian

After the match, Novak rolls out of the ring and shoves Regal. Regal goes after him but JTG pulls Novak away. Regal is seething.

Wow. I can't believe they've actually got me interested in seeing something on NXT.

Yoshi Tatsu and Byron Saxton are backstage. Saxton is giving Tatsu some advice on Maryse, telling him to take it slow. Tatsu says Maryse is very sweet. The Maryse comes from around the corner and asks Tatsu what he's doing tonight. He says nothing, so she offers for him to go shopping with her tonight to pick out some new outside. Then she kisses him on the cheek. Yoshi is frozen in time.

Match #2 - Darren Young vs. Hornswaggle

Young apparently said backstage to Chavo Guerrero, his pro, that he could beat Hornswaggle with one arm tied behind his back. Then Guerrero says Young also said he could do it blindfolded.

Young has no idea what he's doing and gets kicked in the back of the leg repeatedly. Then Hornswaggle stomps him in the foot. While the referee talks to Guerrero, Young slips the blindfold up, finds Hornswaggle and gives him a big boot. Young picks him up and puts him on the top turnbuckle but Hornswaggle headbutts his way off, stands up, hits the Tadpole Splash and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Hornswaggle

Match #3 - Yoshi Tatsu & Byron Saxton vs. Tyson Kidd & Lucky Cannon

Cannon all over Saxton, trying to show off for Maryse the whole way. Kidd delivers a boot to Saxton's face behind the referee's back as he's hung up in the ropes. Big boot lands for Cannon by Saxton kicks out at two. He starts putting the boots to him, yelling "STAY DOWN!" Spinebuster lands for Cannon. Cover for two. They go into the corner but crash into each other and this is the opening for Saxton.

He's able to crawl over and bring in Tatsu while Cannon tags in Kidd. Kicks a plenty for Tatsu. He's calling for the high kick now but is distracted by Cannon hitting on Maryse. He goes to deliver the high kick but Kidd ducks, kicks Tatsu in the gut and hits a Fisherman's swinging neckbreaker and gets the pin.

Winners via pinfall: Tyson Kidd & Lucky Cannon
