WWE Tough Enough: Austin reads Riot Act to bottom 3 contestants
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on WWE Tough Enough: In case you missed the memo, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin rules. After chewing out three people last week, he gets to chew out three more this time, leading to a surprise elimination. It's down to Ryan, Matt and "Miss USA" Rima. One of them goes home after committing an unpardonable sin in the mind of the WWE Hall of Famer.
We go into the house and everyone is happy Eric wasn't eliminated last week. He says he's going to get into shape no matter what, but Matt thinks his legs can't hold up and says he's going to be going home next.
It's over to the training center and Michelle says she's here to show them what she's got. She has to step it up or that's it.
"Stone Cold" Steve Austin is here to talk with everyone about courage. He says it takes a lot of courage to climb through the ropes. He says they have to embrace that fear and overcome it. Booker T says you can't teach courage it. You have to have it. He says they are looking for the person who will go the extra mile.
Ivelisse says she believes the training is getting harder. We see Bill DeMott giving Ryan the business continually for being unable to do basic moves on 130 pound Michelle.
Booker T is in the ring. He says they don't have time to baby people. Trish Stratus is working with Matt. She asks him to show her something, so he goes into the ring with Luke but isn't showing personality. Luke said Matt dropped the ball and the spotlight ended up on him. Matt admits he screwed up and knows this is a character-driven business.
John Cena shows up at the training center. Cena tells the crew to make the most of everyday. Jeremiah asks him what the toughest thing was for him to learn. Cena says it was having faith in himself. Matt asks him if he hasn't had the chance to work with anyone that he wants to. He looks over at Austin. Rima asks Cena to marry him. She goes on to say she was nervous when Cena was watching. We see Rima taking bumps.
We're back at the house and Jeremiah is interviewing Luke, who is doing an impression of Austin. We're told they have a bit of a budding romance. Luke: "I wouldn't go so far as to say Jeremiah completes me, but it's a lot like home."
We're back and Mickael is making fun of Ryan for writing a letter to his girlfriend. Ryan notes, crying, that they've been together for a year and are almost never apart, so he's struggling. He says he would consider going home if she asked, but he's focused on the competition.
Austin's back at the training center and tells the crew to change into their shoes and meet him outside for the challenge, which has to do with courage. They are taken to a large field with four canines. He says they are going to put on an attack suit and have to run to a checkered flag with the dog in tow. This is not going well for the contestants. Eric is trash talking the dog, saying the dog isn't going to take him down. The dog catches up, but Eric actually stays on his feet and drags the dog to the finish line.
Christina is no match for the dog and Austin laughs. Mickael says there's no way he's being taken down and he wants them to send two dogs. Predictably, he's taken down. Jeremiah goes into beast mode on this. The dog jumps on his back and he keeps running full speed to the finish line.
DeMott says he wants to dog to eat Ryan's face but Ryan makes it through and screams, "That one's for you, Bill!
Now it's Rima's turn and she gets taken down and some hair taken out.
Austin regroups them and lets them know the fear of being hit is sometimes worse than the hit itself.
We're back in the training center and DeMott says someone is missing. It's Rima. She was still sleeping. She shows up 20 minutes late. Not good for her.
It's time for the skills challenge. This is "Five For Flinching." The contestants are going to be in the corner and DeMott is going to avalanche them. Then they are going to take five body slams. AJ says DeMott is far more vicious than any animal he's ever come across.
Christina has a look of death on her face waiting. Michelle says she feels she's doing a lot better this week and doesn't feel like she'll be in the bottom three. Matt says he felt like a bug and DeMott was the windshield.
Austin compliments them all on a good performance during that challenge. He says he, DeMott and Stratus are going to head to his office for determine the bottom three.
They go over who's at the top of the list. DeMott and Stratus both like Luke. Austin says maybe there's something in Eric, but he needs to show a little more. DeMott calls Ryan a goof all the way around. They all agree. Stratus says Matt blew it. DeMott agrees. They talk about Rima. They admit she's game and tough. Austin doesn't know if her body can hold up to the grind of the WWE schedule. Stratus says she was in that position when she started. DeMott and Austin are a bit sully about her being late.
So they head back into the ringside area and call out the bottom three. He brings Matt, Ryan and Rima forward and tells them to go home and pack their bags.
Martin is surprised to see Matt in the bottom three. He thinks maybe it's to tell everyone that no one is safe.
Mickael is trash talking Ryan about going home. I have to agree. Ryan is done. "You're definitely not coming back tonight," Mickael says.
Matt, Ryan and Rima enter the ring to meet with Austin. One of them is one their way out.
He asks them what they see when they look in the mirror. Rima wants to prove she's not just a pretty girl. Matt says he sees potential. Ryan says he sees a strong, driven determined individual who shoots for the stars. Austin tears him apart for this answer. He says none of them said WWE superstar.
He goes in on Rima for being late. He asks her if it was laziness or arrogance. She says it was because she didn't just ask. He says Rima's head tells her to get up, but her body tells her to stay down. He doesn't know if her body can take it.
I cannot do this justice. Austin is the man. Matt buries Ryan for crying over his girlfriend. Austin then buries him for it. Austin asks Matt what he's doing. He then goes on a huge rant to Matt about how he went
Austin tells Rima to never be late again and if she is, her ass is gone. He tells Ryan to get his s--- together and tells Matt to hand over his belt, he's going home. Matt tries to hang onto the belt and tells Austin he can show him things he's never seen before but Austin tells him he's gone.
Matt says he doesn't know how he's going to regroup. Austin says Matt needed to put up or shut up. He's gone. I'm shocked. Austin turned on Matt so far it'll make your head spin. Definitely a blown opportunity.
What a great, great show this is. Best wrestling show on TV right now.
