Impact: Anderson must earn title shot
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on TNA Impact: With Mr. Anderson whining about wanting his TNA World Heavyweight Title rematch, Eric Bischoff throws him a curveball. If he wants it, he'll have to earn it in a three-way match against Rob Van Dam and Kurt Angle. Also, the scheduled match between Ric Flair and AJ Styles never materializes and a former Knockouts Champion makes her return.

As always, tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Fla. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Mr. Anderson and a steel chair are out to start the show. He says he doesn't care who's calling the shots because he's going to be the one calling them now. He says he's going to sit on that chair all night long to get his contractual rematch if he has to. He talks some more before Rob Van Dam's music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Anderson doesn't care about what RVD is saying. He only cares about getting his rematch, he says. Then they start brawling before security separates them. Then Eric Bischoff's music hits and he and Immortal come out.

Bischoff says tonight's main event is going to be Mr. Anderson against RVD. Then Jeff Jarrett whispers something to him and instead Bischoff books Anderson and RVD against Kurt Angle in a three-way dance.

Match #1 - Gunner & Murphy vs. Eric Young & Orlando Jordan

Comedy early with a sequence of constant crisscrossing that seems longer than most matches on Impact. Then some underhanded tactics get Gunner and Murphy control. Young spins out of a back suplex and goes to work on Murphy. Then he drops his shorts to reveal trunks. This allows Gunner & Murphy to take over. They take out Jordan and then hit Young with an elbow from the middle rope and that's a wrap.

Winners via pinfall: Gunner & Murphy

Brother Devon is out. He wants to apologize to his sons for what Bully Ray to them. He then says it will not go unpaid for. Then Ray appears on the big screen. He reminds Devon about what he did and then goes to put someone who apparently is one of Devon's students through a table when Tommy Dreamer makes the save and starts beating Ray down to ringside. Devon grabs a chair and misses with a wild swing. Then, as security runs down, Devon accidentally clocks Dreamer.

Match #2 - Magnus (The United Kingdom) vs. Crimson (Brooklyn, NY)

Magnus makes the mistake of insulting Crimson by saying he isn't carrying Kurt Angle's bags around and Crimson attacks him and goes to work. Pretty much a Crimson squash, as he finishes Magnus off rather quickly with the Red Alert.

Winner via pinfall: Crimson

It's now time for what will undoubtedly be the best part of the show, the long-awaited Posedown between Rob Terry and "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner.

Terry comes out in John Stockton-esque shorts and Steiner comes out in his suit. Steiner says when Terry called himself the Genetic Freak, that pissed him off because there's only Genetic Freak in wrestling and that's him. He asks Terry if he expected him to come out in Speedos with his body oiled up "like some Chippendale." Terry claims he's afraid. Steiner says he's going to go to back, get his wrestling stuff on, and if Terry is still in the ring, he's going to kick his ass. Terry says it's just like an American to run with his tail between his legs and this brings Steiner back in. He turns his back to take his suit off and Terry attacks him from behind with one of the dumbbells he brought to the ring. Then he chokes him out with his resistance band.

Here comes "The Man." Ric Flair is out. He calls out AJ Styles. Styles says Fortune didn't tell Flair what was about to go down because Flair would've tried to talk them out of it. Flair says he walks a path of greatness but he's now going to teach him about respect and slaps him. Styles goes all over Flair until Hernandez makes the save for Flair. He flings AJ across the ring with his T-shirt and charges him in the corner when Styles flips him over the top. Styles goes after Flair and Hernandez again stops Styles. He grabs him but Styles low-blows both he and Flair. Then he hits Hernandez with the Pele. He goes to the outside with Flair and rams him into the barricade, busting him open. Back in the ring, Hernandez again makes the save. But again Styles fires up and hits a slingshot crossbody onto him. Then he proceeds to go back to work on Flair, tearing up his suit some more. He goes for the Styles Clash when Hernandez makes the save for the fourth time. Wow. Come on. Now they get the double team going when Fortune runs out to save Styles. As Hernadez goes off, Matt Morgan comes from the back and attacks him to the back.

Match #3 - Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.) vs. ODB (Minneapolis, Minn.)

This is Rayne's open challenge. ODB running wild early. She goes for the Bronco Buster but Rayne moves. Rayne hits her facebuster move and then a backstabber. She goes for the facebuster again but can't get it. Rayne gives her the bad mouth and ODB kicks her in the head. Now ODB gets going with shoulder blocks. Fallaway slam connects for ODB. Now she hits the Bronco Buster. She lifts Rayne up but Rayne knees her way out and hits the Rayne Drop and that's it.

Match #4 - No. 1 Contender's Match for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship - Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.) vs. Mr. Anderson (Green Bay, Wisc.) vs. Kurt Angle (Pittsburgh, Pa.)

RVD sends Angle flying over the top and Angle takes a nasty fall. Anderson sees RVD with his back turned and attacks. He hits a knee-drop for two. RVD catches Anderson with two kicks and both men are down. Angle comes back in and hits both men with a series of clotheslines. Then RVD gets a belly-to-belly and Anderson gets the three German suplexes. Angle Slam for Anderson. Angle goes to pull the straps down but RVD hits him with a kick before he can get them all the way down. RVD goes to the top but Angle runs to the top and throws him to the mat. Angle counters the Mic Check and goes to apply the ankle lock when wedding music starts playing and Jeff and Karen Jarrett come walking to the ring in their wedding attire.

Angle immediately stops what he's doing and Jarrett French kisses Karen. The distraction is enough to allow Anderson to recover and hit Angle with the Mic Check to pick up the win.

Winner via pinfall: Mr. Anderson

As the show is signing off, Taz says they got some new footage and he kicks it to the video. It's a vignette for a man in black boots in the rain with "3 3 11" in burning letters on the screen. I am not making this up.
