Smackdown: Green Bay Packers LB helps even odds for Edge
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Friday Night Smackdown: The deck seems stacked against World Heavyweight Champion Edge once again. Facing Dolph Ziggler for the title with Vickie Guerrero as the special guest referee and the spear banned, can Edge once again find a way to retain his title with the odds against him? Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Green Bay, Wisc. Josh Mathews, Michael Cole and Booker T are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG, V)

Tony Chimel introduces Ricardo Rodriguez, who is out to welcome Alberto Del Rio to the ring. The ring is setup with tables, flowers, balloons and the like. His name, by the way, is Alberto Del Rio, but we already knew that. He asks Rodriguez into the ring and he has a big heart. This appears to be a Valentine's Day segment with Del Rio. He says what he loves most in this life, and he opens up the heart and it says "destiny." Then he pulls "destiny" off to reveal a picture of himself. He says his destiny is to win at WrestleMania.

At this point, he is interrupted by Kofi Kingston. Kingston says he knows about the past. He remembers Del Rio beating him with a kendo stick last week. He also knows about right now and it's "you and me." He says "this is your destiny" and grabs a kendo stick from under the ring. He has Del Rio against the ropes begging off but he isn't pulling the trigger. Del Rio finally gets him to relent and then Kingston gives him a big wink and wails away. Kingston destroys all the things set up in the ring.

Del Rio charges but eats the pendulum kick. Kingston goes to the top and hits the high cross for two. Kingston follows up with the SOS but Del Rio gets his hand on the bottom rope. He calls for the Trouble in Paradise but Del Rio slides under the bottom rope. Kingston goes to grab him but Del Rio takes it over and slams Kingston's arm into the steps. Then he kicks his hand. He throws him back in the ring and locks in the cross-armbreaker and Kingston has to tap.

Winner via submission: Alberto Del Rio

Match #2 - Vladimir Kozlov (Moscow, Russia) vs. Justin Gabriel (Cape Town, South Africa)

Kozlov drops Gabriel onto the top turnbuckle but Gabriel takes it over. Kicks for Gabriel but Kozlov goes to work with the three headbutts. Then Ezekiel Jackson takes the referee and Heath Slater trips Kozlov. For his troubles, Santino Marella comes over and delivers the Cobra to Slater before being kicked by Gabriel. Kozlov drills Gabriel with a big boot. He goes for an elbow drop but Gabriel gets his knees up. Then he goes to the top and hits the 450 Splash and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Justin Gabriel

Wade Barrett throws Santino into the ring and delivers Wasteland and then Jackson delivers the uranage to Kozlov.

We're back and Barrett is in full control. Mysterio, though, is able to hit a springboard crossbody for two. Mysterio comes off the top but Barrett catches him and props him on the top. He goes up but Mysterio knocks him off and comes off on top of him and then hits a head scissors. Sidewalk slam lands for Barrett. He goes for a pump-handle slam but Mysterio slings him onto the second rope. He goes for the 619 but Justin Gabriel distracts him. Barrett hits a big boot and follows up with Wasteland and that's it.

Match #7 - World Heavyweight Championship - (c) Edge (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Dolph Ziggler (Hollywood, Fla.)

Of course, Vickie Guerrero is your special guest referee for this one.

Vickie is trying to fast count Edge early. Chinbreaker for Ziggler and he goes for the Zig Zag but Edge hangs onto the ropes and Ziggler goes flying. Edge hits the impaler DDT and Vickie counts but she puts Ziggler's foot on the rope and laughs. Flying forearm for Edge. Both men are down. Vickie starts going into a rage and is lining Edge up for the spear, just like Edge would do. She charges and just bounces right off Edge. She comes up holding her ankle.

The trainer is out and takes her outside the ring. Edge lines Ziggler up and hits him with the spear but there's no referee. Edge standing in the middle of the ring with no one coming out. He lines him up again for the spear and hits it in plain view of Vickie which means Ziggler should be the champion. Edge again looks to the back and out steps Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews in a referee's shirt. He runs to the ring and counts the pin.

Winner via pinfall and STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Edge

After the match, Vickie is arguing with Jack Doan as Cole says "we've got a new champion," referencing Edge using the spear, as the show goes off the air.
