Impact: 'They' on their way again; Jarrett, Angle feud heats up
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on TNA Impact: After hearing about "they" for months in the lead up to Bound For Glory, it appears "they" are coming again. As the feud between Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle boils over, the new "they" have a message for Immortal, and it's been embedded into the back of "The Monster" Abyss.

As always, tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Fla. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Kurt Angle is out to start the show. He says Jeff Jarrett made the situation with Karen personal by continually sticking it in his face. Angle, though, says they can never take away his character. Angle, tearing up, says he was a great husband and an incredible father. He says maybe he didn't spend enough time with his family. but he was working to give them everything they could want. He says he and Karen can do this the easy way or the hard way. The easy way is they make amends and move forward for the kids. The hard way is she provokes him and continues to do so and he will pull out every skeleton in her closet.

Jarrett's music hits and it's not them but instead Team Jarrett who come and surround the ring. They do it stupidly, though, and Angle easily beats them off before they can even get in the ring. Angle grabs the mic and screams "is that all you got? Come on Jeff, bring it!"

This brings out Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair. They send out a bunch of police officers. The five officers escort him out of the Impact Zone. That's it. Completely underwhelming segment.

Match #1 - Sarita (Mexico City, Mexico) vs. Velvet Sky (The Big Apple) vs. Mickie James (Richmond, Va.) vs. Madison Rayne (Seattle, Wash.)

This is a four-way tag match. Two knockouts in the ring and they have to tag it and out.

This match is a mess. Too much going on. James goes to the top and Tara comes out of nowhere and KO's her with the elbow brace as referee "blind" Earl Hebner attends to Sarita and Velvet Sky on the other side of the ring. She's out. Then Rayne loads up the glove but James moves and she hits Sky and Mickie rolls Rayne up. Then Earl Hebner comes in and makes Rayne look awful as he is slow getting over to make the count, then he doesn't quite get his arm down for the third. That was weird.

Winner via pinfall: Mickie James

Match #2 - Rob Terry (Cardiff, Wales) vs. Matt Morgan (Fairfield, Conn.)

Terry is getting advice from Ric Flair, the bell rings and he turns right around and walks into the Carbon Footprint. That's it. Less than 10 seconds. The best kind of Rob Terry match.

Winner via pinfall: Matt Morgan

Flair is not happy with this development as Morgan leaves the ring. Flair chops and punches him to the body and is completely no sold. Morgan growls and Flair escapes into the ring. Morgan follows and Flair gets no sold some more. In a great moment, Flair hits the ropes and has to hop over Terry's lifeless body to do so. He comes flying at Morgan with a running chop, which also is no sold. Morgan growls again and Flair begs off. Morgan has Flair down in the corner when Abyss makes the save. He beats Morgan down in the corner. He goes for a running splash but Morgan moves and drills him with a discus clothesline. He then hits Terry with a side slam. He goes to look for Flair and Abyss recovers and he and Terry try the beatdown again, but Morgan hits them with a double clothesline. But then the heels get the heat again and this time they keep Morgan down. Another Impact brawl that goes on far too long.

Match #3 - TNA X Division Championship - (c) Kazarian (Anaheim, Calif.) vs. Jay Lethal (Elizabeth, NJ)

Hot start for Lethal and he forces Kazarian to take a walk. Lethal chases him and brings him back to the ringside area. They've been outside the ring for much longer than 10 but the referee is only at five. Lethal throws Kazarian back in the ring and hits a springboard dropkick. Handspring back elbow connects for Lethal for two. Top rope elbow hits for Lethal for two. Kazarian rolls out of the ring. Lethal goes to bring Kazarian back in the ring but gets eye raked. He recovers and comes over the top with a sunset flip, but Kazarian drops down and holds the middle rope as referee Jackson James is focused on the shoulders and is blocked out by their bodies. He gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA X Division Champion: Kazarian

It's time for the greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all-time to make his appearance. No, it's not Fedor Emelianenko. It's Jeff Jarrett with his wife Karen.

Jarrett gets the mic, starts to speak and the crowd starts chanting "sloppy seconds." That's a good one. He says the woman in the ring with him is a victim. With that, he turns the mic over to Karen.

She says she had a presentation ready but heard what Angle said. She questions Angle's character and takes a trip back to 1997 where Angle was a "lost little puppy who had nowhere to go." As she's speaking, Angle comes out of the crowd and Germans Jarrett. Karen goes to attack him from behind with her shoe but she just turns him around and they have a staredown. She slaps him. As she bad mouths him, Jarrett recovers and low blows Angle. He takes off his suit coat and hits a running punch as Karen throws her shoe at Angle (honestly, who throws a shoe?). Jarrett goes to work with punches on Angle, telling him to never get in this ring again. They leave Angle laying.

Angle is throwing a fit backstage, hitting a trash can and destroying things. He's mad.

Match #4 - Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, NY) vs. Jeff Hardy (Cameron, NC)

You can scratch Tommy Dreamer's face off the "missing from TNA" milk carton.

Dreamer takes the rolling bump off the apron and to the floor early. Back in the ring, Hardy goes to work with a chinlock. Dreamer gets out and hits a couple of clotheslines and back drop. Hardy hits a quick back elbow and misses a real sloppy Whisper in the Wind. Dreamer goes to the middle turnbuckle but Hardy gets him to the gut with a boot. He goes for the Twist of Hate but Dreamer counters into the Dreamer Driver but Hardy is able to get his foot on the rope. Hardy rolls to the apron. Dreamer follows but Hardy hits the middle rope into Dreamer's crotch as he straddled them. This allows Hardy to get up and hit the reeling Dreamer with the Twist of Hate. Fin.

Winner via pinfall: Jeff Hardy

Backstage, Flair ices AJ Styles (yes) when Angle comes and hits Styles with a baseball bat. Then he chokes Flair with the bat and tells him he's going to the ring and Jarrett better be there or he's coming after Flair.

Match #5 - Robert Roode (Wall Street) & James Storm (Leipers Fork, Tenn.) vs. Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.) & Mr. Anderson (Green Bay, Wisc.)

This is a revenge match for both teams after they each beat each other down at various points last week.

Storm fakes an injury after being dominated and this allows Roode to hit a clothesline behind the ref's back on Anderson and Beer Money takes over. Roode with a low blow behind the referee's back. Chinlock for Roode now. Anderson gets to a vertical base and breaks the hold. He goes for a Mic Check but Roode elbows his way out. They trade a series of counters that ends with Anderson hitting a DDT. Both men down now. Anderson crawling. Roode crawling. Roode brings in Storm and Anderson gets to RVD.

RVD goes for Rolling Thunder but Roode grabs his foot and Storm comes up and hits the Backstabber for two. Beer Money goes for a double clothesline but Anderson breaks it up. He and Roode go to the floor. In the ring, RVD cranks Storm with a spinning heel kick. He goes up for the Five-Star Frog Splash and he hits it. He goes for the cover, but referee Jackson James leaves the ring to head off Jeff Hardy, who had come to the ring. Then Matt Hardy comes into the ring from the crowd and hits RVD with the Twist of Hate and that's it.

Winners via pinfall: Beer Money Inc.

Backstage, Brian Kendrick is trying to give Bully Ray yoga and breathing lessons. As you'd expect, Bully Ray, well, bullies him, shoving him into a locker. It's high school all over again for Kendrick.

Flair and Jarrett are having a screaming match. Flair says he's not apart of this. Jarrett disagrees. Bischoff says he's got it under control. They yell some more. Then Bischoff tells Jarrett to go the ring and he's got it.

Brother Devon is walking to the ring with no music. He wants to finish what was started at Genesis. He calls out Bully Ray. Ray comes out and tells Devon to come up the ramp. Devon wants him in the ring. Then Kendrick comes flying in from behind and hits Ray and tosses him in the ring. Devon with punches but then he eats an elbow. Ray talks off the chain connect to his wallet and wraps it around his fist but Devon cuts him off and drops him with punches. Devon picks up the chain but here's security. They keep Devon away and Ray comes in and attacks him as he's held up. He then dispatches of security and kicks Devon in the head. He goes outside, grabs a chair and Pillmanizes Devon's neck and head. He picks up the chain and slams it into the chair.

Angle is in the ring waiting when Jarrett's music hits. He's got his gear on and is accompanied by Gunner and Murphy. Jarrett's pyro scares him. Jarrett sends Gunner and Murphy after Angle. As you'd expect, this does not end well for Gunner and Murphy. Angle stomps mud holes in both of them and walks them dry. He goes to work on Gunner when Murphy recovers and attacks Angle from behind. Now Jarrett enters the fray. Gunner holds Angle up and Jarrett punches away until Angle moves. He dispatches of Gunner and Murphy and we're down to Angle and Jarrett in the ring. Angle puts him in a rear-naked choke when Karen comes running down screaming. Kazarian and then the rest of Immortal make the save.

Then Abyss comes walking down the ramp with his arms wide open. But he drops to his knees and then onto his stomach and embedded in his back is his own weapon, Janice. Crimson follows, in a phat suit, by the way, and screams to Immortal that "they're coming" on Feb. 3. The distraction allows Angle to make it back to his feet and clean house on the distracted Immortal.
