RAW: The Rumble and The Nexus grow
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

John Cena kicks off the show in Little Rock, Arkansas, and he is not wasting time. He says he will win the Rumble and then win the WWE Title at Wrestlemania. Cena also wants CM Punk, but instead he gets the WWE Champion. The Miz and Alex Riley walk out on stage, looking more like the board room than the locker room.

Miz says he is the most watched wrestler on RAW, and the odds of winning the Royal Rumble are not in Cena's favor. Miz then confirms that 40 superstars will compete. He also tells the potential winner not to challenge him, because they will lose.

Cena mocks Miz, and then points out if it wasn’t for Michael Cole and Alex Riley, he would have lost the belt. Cena says then only thing he must see is the WWE champion wrestle.

Miz retorts that he can fight with the best and everyone knows it. (The Miz is getting some great heat, tonight.) Cena tells Miz he will not make it to Wrestlemania.

CM Punk leads his Nexus on stage, telling the Miz he does not have to apologize to Cena. He reiterates what the Miz said about the odds of winning the Rumble, and the Nexus will see to it that Punk is the winner. The Nexus hits the ring, and delivers a beat down to Cena. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov run in, avenging their beat down from last week. David Otunga, Michael McGillicutty, and Husky Harris clear the ring, only to have Punk join them.

The GM fires off an email that stops Nexus in their tracks. The GM wonders what the odds are of Punk beating Cena if Nexus is banned from ringside. The GM adds if any members of Nexus interfere, they are out of the Rumble.

Match #1 The Usos vs. Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov w/ Tamina – WWE Tag Team Title match

If there’s a title match, and nobody cares, does it really happen?

The Usos get more dirt heaped on them by losing to Santino Marella and the cobra.

Winner via pinfall: Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov

The Nexus is plotting something backstage. The foot soldiers aren’t happy about being banned from ringside, but Punk is all smiles. He tells them to have faith.

John Morrison runs into his opponent, Daniel Bryan, backstage. The Bella kiss Bryan, and Morrison is just dumbfounded.

Match #2 – John Morrison vs. Daniel Bryan w/ The Bella Twins

Morrison and Bryan show off their mat wrestling skills to start the match. Morrison breaks free from a hammer lock only to get kicked out of the ring. We go to commercial.

After the break, Morrison has Bryan in a chin lock. Bryan breaks free, but is knocked down. Morrison climbs the turnbuckle, but Bryan rolls away from Starship pain. Both men then catch each other with cross body blocks, and hit the mat. Both competitors get to their feet, and start trading blows. Morrison lands on his feet after an over head suplex. Morrison goes for a roll up, but Bryan tries to counter into the LeBell lock. Morrison blocks it, and catapults Bryan into the corner. Morrison drives the running knee into Bryan’s head and covers to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: John Morrison

After the match, King Sheamus walks out on stage. The King says he forced Morrison to step up his game, and he can put a stop to that. Sheamus says no one is in his league, and he will conquer 39 other superstars to win the Royal Rumble. Sheamus tells Morrison and Bryan that he will personally eliminate them.

The Bella twins love the look of John Morrison, but then talk about how one of them will be Bryan’s first. (First what? This is supposed to be a PG show!) Anyway, Brie and Nikki make a bet over who will seduce Bryan first.

And now it is time for this show to come to a screeching, and I mean screeching, halt with Vicki Guerrero. She introduces her man Dolph Ziggler as the next World Heavyweight Champion.

Match #3 – Dolph Ziggler vs. Randy Orton

Orton and Ziggler lock up, and Orton is forced into the corner. Ziggler takes a cheap shot and stomps away at Orton in the corner. Ziggler shoots off the ropes and Orton catches him with a Thesz press, and then takes Ziggler off his feet with a clothesline. Orton stomps Ziggler on the apron, and then catapults him against the bottom rope. The Viper goes to the head lock, but Ziggler breaks the hold with chin breaker. He focuses on Orton’s knee, slamming it around the ring post.

Orton fights back, beating Ziggler into the corner. The ref breaks it up, and Ziggler catches Orton with a big boot. Ziggler goes back to work on the left leg. Orton hits the backbreaker, and then dodges a splash in the corner. Orton connects with the scoop slam, as Ziggler rolls to the apron. Orton sets up the elevated DDT, but Ziggler counters. He hits the Zig Zag, but Orton kicks out of the pin. The Viper connects on a European Uppercut, but Ziggler is able to apply the sleeper. Orton finally gets to the ropes to break the hold. Orton blocks another sleeper and then hits the RKO out of nowhere. Orton covers to get the win.

Winner via pinfall: Randy Orton

The bell has barely rung when The Miz and Alex Riley hit the ring. Miz slams Orton into the ring steps, and then tears apart the announce table. Jerry Lawler tries to get involved, but Miz tosses him into the crowd. The champ drives Orton into the ring post and beats on him some more. Orton is smashed through the security barrier and the Miz tells Orton that he is awesome.

CM Punk talks to his troops about faith.

Match #4 – Maryse vs. Natalya

With Lawler out of commission for the time being, Melina and Eve join Michael Cole. Maryse taps to the Sharp Shooter.

Winner via submission: Natalya

After the match, Eve shoves Maryse, as the she yells at Cole in French. Ted DiBiase steps in, and Maryse dresses him down, calling him a loser. DiBiase says he will throw anyone over the top, and issues an open challenge right now. Mark Henry accepts.

Match #5 – Ted DiBiase vs. Mark Henry – Over the Top Rope Challenge

Henry makes short work of DiBiase, tossing him over the ropes quickly.

Winner: Mark Henry

After the bell, multiple superstars run to the ring and start throwing each other over the ropes. Mark Henry has Zack Ryder above his head, when Sheamus comes in with a chop block. Henry tosses Sheamus out of the ring with a belly to side suplex. And just when you think it’s over, Alberto Del Rio drives out.

He is still saying that it is his destiny to win the Rumble.

Match #6 – CM Punk vs. John Cena

The three members of Nexus walk out on stage with Punk, but they head to the back after giving the salute. Punk gets in Cena’s face and the two trade blows. Cena whips him into the corner and follows with a bulldog. A punch to the ribs sends Punk to the mat, and Cena keeps the pressure on. Punk catches Cena with a kick, and then kicks him out of the ring. We go to commercial.

After the break, Punk has Cena in a head scissors. Cena gets to his feet and breaks the hold, but Punk lands on his feet. Punk applies the hold, again, and Cena breaks the hold on the mat. Cena connects with a shoulder tackle, and then a side slam. He hits the five knuckle shuffle, and sets Punk up for the AA. Punk counters with a spinning heel kick. He covers, but Cena kicks out. Punk hits a high running knee in the corner, and follows with a bulldog. Cena counters the GTS into the STF. Punk struggles and gets to the ropes to break the hold. Cena picks up Punk, who grabs the ropes to break up the AA. Punk springboards off the top rope to hit a flying clothesline, but Cena kicks out of the pin. Punk counters an AA into a Koji clutch and Cena is trapped in the middle of the ring. Cena gets to the ropes and breaks the hold. Punk kicks Cena off the apron with a boot to the temple. Punk launches himself over the ropes, but Cena catches him, slamming him into the ring post. Punk catches Cena on the top turnbuckle, but Cena knocks him back to the mat. He follows with a flying leg drop, but Punk kicks out of the pin. An unknown man runs to the apron, distracting Cena. Punk kicks him in the back of the head, and then stares at the new guy. Punk spreads his arms, allowing him to get kicked in the face. The ref calls for the bell.

Winner via DQ: CM Punk

The unknown man delivers a spine buster to Cena. Nexus runs in, but Punk tells them to back off. The assailant kneels before Punk, and he presents him with a Nexus armband. All five men give the Straight Edge salute to end the show.
