Superstars: All your favorites meet in 8-man tag action
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on WWE Superstars: Once again, it's the Raw talent that steals the show on another solid edition of Superstars. This week, it's rare eight-man tag action when Yoshi Tatsu, David Hart Smith, Darren Young and Primo meet William Regal, Zack Ryder and the Usos in another solid main event. Should be a good one!
This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG, V)
Match #1 - Chris Masters (Los Angeles, Calif.) & JTG (Brooklyn, NY) vs. Chavo Guerrero (El Paso, Texas) & Curt Hawkins (Queens, NY)
Masters goes for the Masterlock on Hawkins early, but a Guerrero distraction allows Hawkins to escape and hit Masters from behind. Heels all over Masters now, but he escapes a Hawkins chinlock with a jawbreaker and gets the tag to JTG. Big boot to the face gets two for JTG. JTG to the top but again, a Guerrero distraction allows Hawkins to come back and throw JTG off the top. The Hawkins kicks JTG in the midsection which sends him out of the ring.
We're back and Guerrero and Hawkins have JTG isolated in their corner and are working the quick tags. Rear chinlock for Guerrero. Switches it to a side headlock but this allows JTG to hit a side suplex to escape. Guerrero gets to Hawkins and he comes flying in to cut JTG off before he can tag Masters. JTG getting closer but Hawkins kicks Masters' hand. This brief lapse allows JTG to drop Hawkins and get the tag. Guerrero in, as well. Masters with a big spinebuster. He calls for the Masterlock but Guerrero counters. Guerrero goes after JTG on the apron and comes back and runs right into the Masterlock. Hawkins comes flying in but Masters actually backdrops him while still holding the Masterlock. Impressive. With no way out, Guerrero submits.
Winners via submission: Chris Masters & JTG
Match #2 - Alicia Fox (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) vs. Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario)
Fox in control. She stands on Kim's hair and then boots her in the midsection. Then she locks in an abdominal stretch complete with elbows to the midsection, her target area. Fox goes for a pump-handle slam but Kim counters into a lateral press for two. Kim gets going with some kicks to the body and then a crossbody in the corner. Kim to the top and she cranks Fox with a missile dropkick right to the kisser for two. Then jostle for position in the corner and it ends up with Kim hitting Eat Defeat and getting the pin.
Winner via pinfall: Gail Kim
Match #3 - Yoshi Tatsu (Tokyo, Japan), Primo (San Juan, Puerto Rico), Darren Young (Miami, Fla.) & David Hart Smith (Calgary, Alberta) vs. William Regal (Blackpool, England), Zack Ryder (Long Island, NY), Jimmy & Jey Uso (San Francisco, Calif.)
We can take Primo's face off the milk carton now! He's back!
Faces surprisingly dominating early. Smith drills Ryder with a power bomb and then hits the delayed vertical suplex for two. Smith's reign of terror doesn't last, though, as the Usos take him down. But they bring Ryder back in and Smith peps right back up and hits a Jackhammer. He goes for the running powerslam but he gets his leg clipped. Ryder goes to work.
We're back and Smith is battling Jey. Smith avoids a splash and brings in Young. Flying shoulder tackle connects for Young for two. Jey, though, clips Young's leg and he faces back-first on the apron. Regal in now and he puts the boots to Young. Ryder in now and he's having better success against Young than Smith. Very aggressive now. He lines him up for the corner kick and drills him. Ryder grabs a leg but Young hits him with an enziguri and tags Primo. He's rolling. Primo's babyface comebacks are awesome. He actually sweeps the leg. Tremendous. Then he plants Ryder with a tornado DDT and all three heels break up the cover. This brings all three faces into the ring and they dispatch of the heels. Primo tags Tatsu and he comes in and drills Ryder with the high kick and that's it. Crowd jumping up and down. Fun finish.
Winners via pinfall: Yoshi Tatsu, Primo, David Hart Smith & Darren Young
