WWE NXT: More awful challenges for lame duck show
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: After Jacob Novak was left buried last week, we have one week before our next elimination. The rookies try to impress, but that's difficult considering the awful challenges they have to take part it: A Slingshot Challenge and Superstar Password. They need to send this show back to the drawing board. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Birmingham, Ala. Todd Grisham and Josh Mathews are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Striker tells us that next week there will be another elimination.

Striker says this is the Slingshot Challenge. The rookie's pro will slingshot a shirt from the ring to the rookie on the stage and they can catch it anyway they want and have to place it in a receptacle.

R-Truth's slinging is awful. Johnny Curtis gets none. Byron Saxton and Dolph Ziggler combine for one. Derrick Bateman and Daniel Bryan go for two. Ted DiBiase and Brodus Clay with none. Next up is Conor O'Brian and Alberto Del Rio. O'Brian catches two but only puts one in the bucket, therefore Bateman is your winner.

This was not good.

Ricardo Rodriguez is backstage. He is on the phone talking about having a problem with a rat. Looks like someone is jealous.

Match #1 - Byron Saxton vs. Conor O'Brian

Saxton gets the heat with a cheap shot in the corner. He works a chinlock with a knee in the back. Now he's pulling the arms back with a knee in the back. Now back to the chinlock with the knee in the back. Saxton in complete control here. Then out of nowhere, O'Brian gets a big boot in the face of Saxton and hits his full nelson slam for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Conor O'Brian

It's time to take a look at Daniel Bryan and Derrick Bateman's double date with the Bella Twins last night after Raw. Bateman is in a suit coat, shirt and tie with American flag Zubaz. Yes. They banter back-and-forth and I guess this will continue.

It's time for Superstar Password. The rookie will have to convey a Superstar to their pro and they cannot say the Superstar's name. They are provided clues. Curtis and Truth get two. Saxton and Ziggler get two, as well. Bateman and Bryan get three. This was great. Clay and DiBiase get none. Not as good. O'Brian and Del Rio are up next. He gets one. Once again, Bateman is your winner.

It's back to the double date. The Bellas are not impressed with Bateman. The Bellas start arguing over Bryan. They starting arguing over sent text messages and Bateman gets upset about his pants and flips the table. He then gives Bryan a bag of coins to pay for the bill, as promised. Yep.

Match #2 - Ted DiBiase vs. Johnny Curtis

DiBiase drops Curtis and then hops on the middle rope to gloat. No heat at all. Curtis, though, rebounds with a big back drop on DiBiase as he comes out of the corner. Suplex lands but a slingshot leg drop does not and DiBiase takes control back.

We're back and DiBiase is in control with a headlock. DiBiase dominating here. He slingshots Curtis into the bottom rope. Curtis finally avoids a running knee and snaps DiBiase's neck off the top rope. Here he comes. Knee to the gut for Curtis. He goes for a backslide but can't get it. Instead he hits a suplex slam for two. Maryse jumps on the apron and takes the ref and this allows Brodus Clay to hit Curtis from behind. This brings R-Truth around and he decks Clay. This distraction allows Curtis to come from behind and roll DiBiase up and he gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Johnny Curtis

Maryse throws her shoes at Clay after the match.
