Smackdown: Ziggler takes Cena to the limit again, CM Punk makes impact
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on "Friday Night" Smackdown: For the first time in the 10-plus year history of the show, Smackdown comes to us for the first time on the USA Network. And it's live. WWE has a solid show in store for us with two terrific television matches as Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger face Kofi Kingston and Rey Mysterio and in the main event, John Cena battles Dolph Ziggler and Vickie Guerrero.

And we are LIVE! from San Antonio, Texas. Josh Mathews, Michael Cole and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG, V)

Match #1 - Randy Orton (St. Louis, Mo.) vs. The Miz (Cleveland, Ohio)

Orton takes it to Miz early. He beats him up on the outside and then slingshots him into the bottom rope. Uppercuts in the corner for Orton. Miz on the apron and he snaps Orton's neck on the top rope and takes over. He sends Orton off the ropes and sends him flying with a knee to the gut. Orton gets going and hits two clotheslines and a scoop slam. Miz goes to the apron after it and Orton tries to bring him back in with the draping DDT but Miz slides in and backdrops Orton to the apron. Orton punches him and Miz grabs the ref and Alex Riley comes in and pulls Orton off the apron. Miz comes to the outside and runs Orton into the steps.

We're back and Miz has Orton in a headlock but he pushes off. Now they're trading and Orton counters Miz's with a slam. Miz, though, knocks Orton down. He goes to the top but Orton crotches him. Orton follows up and hits a superplex. They eventually stand and trade punches in the centre of the ring. Orton gets the better of it and stomps a mud-hole in Miz and walks it dry. Angle Slam connects for Orton. Miz with the combination backbreaker/neckbreaker for two. Orton goes for a power bomb but Riley briefly jumps on the apron and uses this to backdrop Orton. Corner clothesline for Miz.

Miz looks for the Skull-Crushing Finale but Orton counters. He looks for the RKO but Miz goes into a backslide for two. Uppercut then draping DDT connect for Orton and he goes into position for the RKO. Riley on the apron again. Orton decks him and still hits the RKO. Into the cover, but Riley comes in and breaks up the pin.

Winner via disqualification: Randy Orton

Orton dispatches of "A-Ry" and Orton lines Miz up for the punt. Riley, though, recovers and comes flying in. Orton goes from punt to RKO on Riley in half a second flat and Miz escapes.

Santa Big Show, Rosa Mendes and Hornswaggle are out for a Christmas segment. He reads a WWE version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas." That's it. No run-ins, nothing. And right as I say that, "Dashing" Cody Rhodes comes in and attacks Hornswaggle. Show tries to make the save but Rhodes kicks him off the apron and then takes off before Show can get back.

Beth Phoenix is speaking with Todd Grisham about her ugly fall Sunday when she is interrupted by Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov. Santino suggests they do one of their lip-locks for old time's sake. Kozlov produces the missletoe. Phoenix asks Santino if he is seeing Tamina on Raw. He says this is Smackdown and what happens on Smackdown stays on Smackdown. Santino puckers up, but Phoenix grabs Kozlov's arm and then lays a big smooch on Kozlov. Santino is not happy. He comedically storms off and Kozlov blows the departed Phoenix another kiss. Ruh roh!

Santino gets rolling with a hip-toss and goes for the flying headbutt but Guerrero gets the knees up. He gets up and hits the Three Amigos, well, he gets two of them before Santino hits a "Stunner-like maneuver." He follows this with the Cobra and a roll-up for the win.

The new World Heavyweight Champion Edge is out. He says all the shenanigans with Kane and Paul Bearer were worth it because he is the new champion. He talks about his hopes and dreams when Kane's pyro hits and he's out and he's mad. Kane says Edge doesn't get to write the end to his own story, Kane does. Kane says Edge's story will end with his body broken and the title back in his possession. Edge says there's nothing worse than listening to Kane's psychotic ramblings. Edge suggests they just cut to the chase and do it here and now. Edge vs. Kane for the title.

Kane takes some steps toward the ring and then stops, smiles and tells Edge he can't be manipulated that easily. He says for six weeks they've been playing the game by Edge's rules, but no longer. He says he's going to get the title back, but on his terms and when he's ready.

Kaval does his roll into the ring and is attacked by McIntyre before the bell. He's woozy but tells the ref he can go, so he rings the bell. Huge big boot by McIntyre and he quickly follows this up with the Future Shock DDT and that's it.

Match #4 - Alberto Del Rio (San Luis Potosi, Mexico) & Jack Swagger (Perry, Okla.) vs. Kofi Kingston (Ghana, West Africa) & Rey Mysterio (San Diego, Calif.)

Del Rio jumps Mysterio and tries to rip off his mask early on. He can't get it so he lays a big kick right into his back. Just like that, Mysterio is isolated. That doesn't last long, though, as a head scissors takes Del Rio down. Now it's Del Rio being isolated. Missile dropkick lands via Kingston. Del Rio tries to fire up using a Swagger distraction and charges Kingston, but he's sidestepped and goes flying to the outside. Then Mysterio sends Swagger to the outside. Right as Del Rio and Swagger rise to their feet, they are hit with stereo crossbodies.

We're back and Del Rio is in control of Mysterio. Swagger in now with a bearhug. Mysterio gets out and hits Swagger with a drop-toe hold into the corner and gets the tag to Kingston. He comes in with a huge flying crossbody but Swagger quickly hits him with a big boot. Del Rio in now and he gets hit with a side suplex. They control until Kingston hits a rebound crossbody on Swagger. Swagger gives up on holding Kingston so he can tag Del Rio. This allows Kingston to tag Mysterio. Mysterio running willd. Huge DDT gets a great near-fall. Head kick to a downed Del Rio gets two, as well. Mysterio charges but Del Rio hits a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for two. Mysterio puts Del Rio in position for the 619 but Swagger tags himself in and absolutely decks Mysterio with a football-like tackle. That was great.

Swagger looks for the gut-wrench, but Mysterio gets out. He sets Swagger up for the 619 and hits it. Kingston follows with Trouble in Paradise and Rey hits the splash and that's it.

Winners via pinfall: Rey Mysterio & Kofi Kingston

Real good match.

Kelly Kelly is texting backstage when Drew McIntyre comes up and continues their discussion from last week. Talk about awkkkkkkkward.
