RAW: The Miz cashes in as Nexus costs Orton WWE title
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

After taking their talents to South Beach, the WWE superstars invade Orlando, Florida for Monday Night RAW. Even though John Cena was “fired” last night, I have a feeling he may show up at the Amway Center, tonight. I don’t think that will sit well with Wade Barrett and the Nexus.

Speaking of Nexus, they are the first ones to hit the ring tonight. Wade Barrett receives a chorus of boos, and he can barely talk over the crowd. Barrett says he didn’t have a fighting chance last night, because John Cena had decided to throw his career away so Barrett couldn’t win the WWE Title. Barrett points out Cena pushed him into the RKO, and he wants justice. (Cena got fired, what more do you want?) Barrett asks for another opportunity to take on Randy Orton with a neutral ref. The mysterious, tech-savvy GM has heard enough, and fires of an email.

The GM agrees with Barrett, and says that he will face Randy Orton for the title, tonight. Barrett had a feeling that this was coming, so he is allowing John Cena one last appearance -- to say his final words.

After the break, Michael Cole introduces a new member to the broadcast team, CM Punk. And next week RAW will host the King of the Ring tournament, so that means tonight we will see some qualifying matches.

Match #1 – Sheamus vs. R-Truth w/ Eve – King of the Ring Qualifier

(CM Punk calls out Eve on her dancing skill, something I have been saying for weeks.)

Sheamus should be a little salty after losing to John Morrison last night, and should take out his frustrations on Truth. Sheamus head butts Truth and drops him with an arm bar. Truth gets some separation with a chin breaker, and is able to take Sheamus off his feet. Truth climbs the turnbuckle, dropping Sheamus with a missile drop kick. Sheamus powers out of the pin. After a near fall, Sheamus connects with his bicycle kick, and sets Truth up for the High Cross. Sheamus drives him into the mat, covers, and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Sheamus

Layla and Michelle McCool try to get into the arena, but are stopped by security, since they aren’t on the list. New Diva’s Champion Natalya asks if there is a problem, and tells security that she has never seen either one of them before.

Santino and Vladimir Kozlov are lamenting their title match loss. Santino is depressed and needs something to cheer him up. Tamina serenades him with a song, and then plants a kiss on him. Santino is good now.

Josh Matthews asks Orton if he can successfully defend his title again. Orton says Cena called the match down the middle, and Randy respects him for that. Orton guarantees that Barrett will not leave with the title.

Match #2 – Ezekiel Jackson vs. The Miz – King of the Ring Qualifier

The Miz’s music hits, but only Alex Riley walks out. He says the Miz has suffered an anxiety attack, and Riley will take his place to qualify for him.

Jackson tosses Riley around the ring. Riley does hit a splash in the corner. Jackson flattens Riley with a clothesline, and then crushes him with one in the corner. Zeke slams Riley to the mat, covering for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Ezekiel Jackson

John Cena is talking in the back with various superstars. Bonus: Gail Kim sighting!

After the break, John Cena heads to the ring. He says this is the way to go out. Cena tells the crowd that they have no idea how much he respects the company. He calls the last nine years the greatest ever, and he won’t let Nexus ruin that. Cena talks about the sacrifices he has made, and is looking forward to going home. Cena tells the crowd he loves hearing them cheer and jeer. He asks all the women and children to cheer for him, and all the men to cheer against him. He just leans on the ropes and soaks it in. Cena then has some advice for Wade Barrett. He tells him to stop taking the easy way out. Cena thanks the WWE Universe for letting him do what he does, and then he walks up the ramp for one last time. Walking through the back, Cena gets a standing ovation from the RAW superstars. WWE champion Randy Orton gives him a hug, as Wade Barrett taunts Cena leaving the building.

Match #3 – Daniel Bryan vs. Ted DiBiase w/ Maryse – King of the Ring Qualifier

Brie Bella chases Bryan down on the ramp, so she could escort him to the ring. DiBiase jumps Bryan, beating him on the mat, and then slamming him on the top rope. Bryan dodges a splash in the corner, and answers with a drop kick. DiBiase counters Bryan with a spinebuster, but cannot get the pin. Bryan actually counters the pin into the LeBell lock, and DiBiase taps.

Winner via submission: Daniel Byran

Brie joins Daniel in the ring, only to have Nikki run in. Bryan doesn’t seem too interested as the twins hug.

Match #4 – Natalya vs. Alicia Fox

Alicia pulls out some of Natalya’s hair, so the Diva’s champ holds her up in a delayed vertical suplex. Natalya locks in the Sharp Shooter and Alicia taps.

Winner via submission: Natalya

John Morrison gets a “good game” smack from Melina.

Match #5 – John Morrison vs. Tyson Kidd – King of the Ring Qualifier

Kidd slams Morrison into the turnbuckle, and stomps away at him. Morrison blocks a punch, and connects with a heel kick. Kidd fights back with neck breaker. Morrison springboards off the ropes kicking Kidd, and follows with Starship Pain. Morrison covers and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: John Morrison

Match #6 – Wade Barrett (challenger) vs. Randy Orton (champion) – WWE Title Match

Orton is jumped by the members of Nexus while on his way to the ring. Multiple referees jump in, but the damage is done. Nexus is herded to the top of the ramp, as Orton is asked about his status. Husky Harris kicks Orton in the knee again, and the champ goes down. We go to commercial.

After the break, Barrett walks out to the ring alone. Randy Orton’s music hits, and Orton gingerly walks down the ramp. Barrett is laughing at the WWE champ, as Orton says he is ready. Barrett focuses on the injured knee, and kicks Orton into the corner. Barrett slams the knee over the apron, and keeps the pressure up on the injured knee. Orton kicks Barrett into the corner, and is able to hit a back breaker. Barrett picks the champ up for Wasteland and slams him to the mat. John Cena pulls the ref from the ring before he can make the three count, and delivers the Attitude Adjustment to Wade Barrett. The rest of Nexus runs down, and they chase Cena through the crowd. Orton recovers enough to hit Barrett with an RKO. Orton covers and gets the pin, retaining the WWE title.

Winner via pinfall: Randy Orton

After the bell, The Miz storms the ring. You know what this means: Miz is cashing in the Money in the Bank. The bells rings and this one is official.

Match #7 – The Miz (challenger) w/ Alex Riley vs. Randy Orton (champion) – WWE Title Match

Miz forces Orton into the corner, trying to focus on the injured knee. Miz kicks Orton in the knee, and then stomps away at it. He drags Orton into the corner and wraps his leg around the ring post. Orton fights The Miz off, and then explodes out of the corner with a clothesline. Orton counters the Skull Crushing Finale, and looks for the elevated DDT. Miz strikes Orton in the knee again, but can’t capitalize, as he runs into a scoop slam. Orton stalks Miz, but Miz counters an RKO into the Skull Crushing Finale, dropping Orton. Miz covers and gets the three count and wins the WWE Championship.

Winner via pinfall and new WWE champion: The Miz
