Impact: Immortal runs wild, Angle returns
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on TNA Impact: After several big wins at Turning Point, Immortal is running wild (brother). Tonight, several members of Immortal are given favorable matchups against a loose coalition of wrestlers opposed to the large faction following the group's ego-trip promo that featured Jeff Hardy being given a new (hideous) TNA world title.

As always, tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Fla. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Most of Immortal is out to start the show with a new faction theme song. It's in the style of Hulk Hogan's theme. Eric Bischoff grabs the mic and puts over Abyss. He then welcomes the man who put on a "mixed martial arts clinic" against Samoa Joe and that is Jeff Jarrett.

Ric Flair talks about Fortune's success against EV2. AJ Styles talks about how they ran off Sabu at Turning Point. He also says he'll break Stevie Richards' neck tonight and make sure he doesn't wrestle again.

Bischoff then welcomes out the "TNA Immortal World Heavyweight Champion" Jeff Hardy. Hardy says Turning Point was his coming out party. The crowd chants "overrated" at him. He says he will forever be Immortal.

Bischoff says they've got a special treat and it's time for the true Immortal, Hulk Hogan. Hogan says when he came to TNA, he had to have Ric Flair because without Flair, you don't have a wrestling company. Hogan says he's got a little something for the champ and a new belt lowers down from the ceiling. This belt is purple with silver and blue metal on it. This thing is a monstrosity. They then proceed to throw the TNA title into the trash can, saying it represents Dixie Carter and the old TNA. Hogan says if there's anyone left who wants to challenge Immortal or their champion, they have to drop down to their knees and pray, brother.

This brings out The Pope, who magically got his music to play right as he was going through the crowd. He stands in the crowd. Pope says that after what Bischoff pulled Sunday, he has a casket that was intended for Abyss that he now plans to put Bischoff in. Now Samoa Joe's music hits and he's also somewhere in the crowd. He calls out Jeff Jarrett, Gunner and Murphy. He begs Jarrett to come play shootfighter with him. Now Rob Van Dam's music hits and he's out near the announce desk. He tells Bischoff that all the fun he's been having at his expense is over.

RVD says he only knows one friend shallow enough to sell out and that's Hardy. He says he never lost the title and Hardy never won it. He says Hardy has to live with the knowledge that he has to face RVD in the ring. And RVD says he's getting his match tonight and will leave as the champ.

This brings out Matt Morgan. He says RVD should get his title shot, but not before he gets his. He says he'll expose Hardy like he did at Turning Point. He then calls out Hogan. He says as a kid, it was Hogan's integrity that made Morgan want to be a wrestler. But he says Hogan has no fight and more importantly, no balls anymore. He says if Hogan had a set, he'd step up and fight them.

Hogan says if Morgan wants a fight, that's what he's going to get, brother. He says Immortal is going to go to the back and put a plan together. He warns Morgan to be careful what he wishes for.

Match #1 - Jay Lethal (Elizabeth, NJ) & Taylor Wilde (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Robbie E. & Cookie (Jersey Shore)

The ladies quickly get in the match even though Cookie wants no part of a match. Cookie quickly tags out and the guys come back in. Also, Robbie has "GTW" on his trunks. "Gym, Tan, Wrestle." Greatness right here, folks.

The Shore using some double teams but Lethal moves on one of them and Robbie almost flies into Cookie. Lethal uses this to hit Robbie with the Lethal Combination. Cookie tries to interfere but Lethal catches her kick. She takes off her boot to escape and Wilde chases her around the ring. As the ref deals with the ladies, Robbie grabs the boot from Lethal, drills him with it and makes the pin right as Wilde chases Cookie right by the pin. Wilde just runs right past he partner being pinned. Awesome.

Winners via pinfall: Robbie E. & Cookie

Team 3D is out for their retirement speech. They put over tag team wrestling in TNA. They talk about what they're going to do now in their lives. Brother Ray is going to go into music and Devon is going to raise his children. They hit their "Oh my brother, testify" line, bump fists and hug. Then Ray takes off his glasses and drills Devon from behind. He kicks him in the back as he's getting up.

Bischoff is running down the referees backstage. He asks Earl Hebner why a punk kid was assigned to the world title match. Then that punk kid, Jackson, says it was his fault and he made the wrong call. Then Morgan walks in and defends the referee. He says the kid should be assigned to his match tonight against Beer Money and Douglas Williams. Bischoff says sure.

Match #2 - Handicap Match - Gunner & Murphy (Parts Unknown) vs. Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa)

Gunner hits a kick that puts Joe down but Joe gets going with punches and hits an exploder suplex. Murphy blind tags himself in but Joe sees it coming. He quickly hits the Musclebuster and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: Samoa Joe

Gunner confronts Joe after the match and Joe slaps him and goes to work, locking in the Coquina Clutch. From behind, though, Jarrett cranks Joe with the nightstick. Jarrett puts Joe in the ankle lock when Kurt Angle comes in the from the crowd. German suplexes for Gunner and Murphy and Jarrett runs off.

Bischoff is in the bathroom and Abyss is apparently taking a dumpski. But it's The Pope who walks out of one of the stalls, attacks Bischoff then attacks Abyss as he comes out of the stall. Then he takes Bischoff away. This actually happened. They fought in the bathroom.

Match #3 - Kazarian (Anaheim, Calif.) vs. Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.)

RVD monkey flips Kazarian halfway across the ring. He was so impressed with this he does it again to equal results. Thrust kick connects for RVD and he is rolling. Kazarian makes RVD miss in the corner and goes to the top for a crossbody but ends up taking out both RVD and referee Earl Hebner. This brings out Ric Flair with a chair, but Rhino comes flying down and swats it away. The same Rhino who, we were told before this match, had his contract expire after the pay-per-view.

Rhino slides into the ring and stares at RVD, then Kazarian. RVD tells him to get Kazarian. He goes toward him then turns around and Gores RVD. Hebner crawls over and makes the slow count.

Winner via pinfall: Kazarian

Rhino's back in the ring and has the chair. Tommy Dreamer runs out and stops him. He starts to leave as Dreamer checks on RVD, but picks it back up and hits Dreamer in the back with it.

The Pope is beating up Bischoff backstage. Pope asks him, "you wanna be Pope?" Bischoff says Pope is taking this too far. Pope starts dressing him up with bling and such. Then he takes him to a new location.

Hogan is throwing a fit in the office that Abyss let Bischoff out of his sights. Abyss goes to find him.

Match #4 - TNA World Television Championship - (c) AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.) vs. Stevie Richards (Philadelphia, Pa.)

Richards attacks Styles during his entrance.

Match is ongoing and Richards is in control and very feisty. He throws Styles to the outside. Styles rolls back in and catches Richards with a kick coming in and then a springboard reverse legdrop as Richards hung over the rope (I've never seen that move before, so I have no idea what to call it).

Styles now goes to work with a chinlock. Styles in control now. Styles with a nice dropkick. They trade strikes in the corner. Richards fires up with two clotheslines and a back elbow. He follows up with a running neckbreaker for two. Mounted corner punches for Richards. Richards charges Styles in the corner but he moves and Richards is down. Styles goes across to the apron and comes back with a springboard but Richards hits him with a Stevie Kick to the gut for two.

Richards goes for a power bomb but Styles slips out. He drags Richards to the mat by the hair and loads him up for the Styles Clash and makes good on his pre-match prediction and drops Richards right on his neck, modifying the move, and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA World Television Champion: AJ Styles

Pope is slapping Bischoff around backstage and loads him into the casket and starts pushing.

Pope is bringing the casket to ringside. Right as he gets there, Abyss comes flying in. He chokes Pope on the floor. Pope gets up and starting laying in the shots on Abyss. Abyss goes down and Pope starts kneeing him. Pope going to town and Bischoff crawls out of the casket and low blows Pope. Abyss recovers and picks Pope up and drops him in the casket. They run the casket through the bottom of the stage. Abyss celebrates like this is some big deal.

Match #5 - Handicap Match - Robert Roode (Wall Street), James Storm (Leiper's Fork, Tenn.) & Douglas Williams (The United Kingdom) vs. Matt Morgan (Fairfield, Conn.)

Heels commence a beatdown as Morgan enters the ring but he gets up and gets both Roode and Storm in position for choke slams but Williams comes and clips Morgan's left knee. They go to work on that knee. Storm slaps on the Figure Four in the middle of the ring. Morgan reverses it and Storm grabs the ropes. Roode in and he goes right back on the knee. Roode locks in a Boston Crab.

Morgan, though, fires up and Roode brings in Williams. Morgan is the proverbial house of fire. Avalanche and a side slam for Morgan and Storm breaks up the cover. Beer Money in now. They try to suplex Morgan but fail, getting suplexed themselves. Flair gets up on the apron and throws his jacket at Morgan right as we head into Reaction.

Morgan punches Flair off the apron so it's Morgan and Williams in the ring. Williams with a running knee. Beer Money walks off taking Flair to the back for some reason. Morgan catches Williams and hits a fallaway slam. A Carbon Footprint later and it's over.

Winner via pinfall: Matt Morgan
