RAW: Barrett, Nexus celebrate early in the U.K.
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

At least once a year, Monday Night RAW comes to us from across the pond. Manchester, England hosts tonight’s build up to Survivor Series, which is only a week from Sunday. Will Wade Barrett be cheered in his home country? Like every time a Canadian heel comes home?

John Cena is standing at a podium in the ring, representing Nexus. He reads from a scroll, introducing Wade Barrett in a very self-congratulatory manner. Barrett is mostly booed in the return to his home country. The rest of Nexus is in tow.

Before Barrett speaks, Michael Cole informs us that Josh Mathews is filling in for The King tonight, who is recovering from knee surgery.

Barrett tells the Manchester crowd that they will see a preview of his championship celebration, but first there is a matter at hand. Barrett wants to look into something that occurred last week. David Otunga led an invasion of Smackdown, only to get speared by Edge and lose a tag team match. Barrett berates Otunga for losing, and then turns to Cena. Barrett wasn’t pleased with how Cena called his tag team match, and wants an explanation. Cena tells him they lost. Barrett reminds Cena what is at stake next Sunday. Cena tells him that he will give anyone who wants to interfere a beating of a lifetime. Barrett wants Cena to announce him as the new WWE champion.

Current WWE champion Randy Orton has something to say about that. The champ reminds Barrett that he is fighting him for the title, and all he cares about is that Barrett never wins the title. Barrett reminds Orton that he has the Nexus, when the RAW GM chimes in with an email.

The GM cancels Barrett’s championship preview plans, and says Nexus will be banned from ringside at Survivor Series. As for tonight, Randy Orton will be getting an army to back him up. The GM will choose a four-man team to join Orton and face Nexus with John Cena as the ref.

Match #1 – Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, and Eve Torres vs. Maryse, Alicia Fox, and Tamina – Divas Cup Match

All the Divas are dressed in soccer uniforms. Maryse hits Brie with a DDT, but Nikki saves her sister out of the way, and rolls Alicia up to get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, and Eve Torres

David Otunga is informed he will not be taking part in the ten man tag tonight, but instead he will face John Cena.

Match #2 – The Hart Dynasty vs. The Usos

The burying of the Hart Dynasty continues as Jey Uso hits the Superfly splash D.H. Smith to get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: The Usos

Matt Striker wants Orton to weigh in on who his partners might be tonight. Orton wants the best of the best, when The Miz informs Orton that he is on the team. Orton is less than thrilled.

Otunga is shunned by his Nexus teammates, but he still tells them that he will beat Cena, and he wants them out there.

Match #3 – Goldust vs. Ted DiBiase w/ Maryse

During the match, DiBiase has Maryse take back his Million Dollar Title that Goldust had stolen. Aksana, the new bride of Goldust, runs down, slaps Maryse and takes the belt. During the confusion, Goldust is able to roll up DiBiase and get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Goldust

Match #4 – John Cena vs. David Otunga

Wade Barrett and the rest of the Nexus walk out with Otunga, but Barrett then tells them to head back. Otunga takes off out of the ring, but Cena is able to chase him down and drag him back to the ring. Back in the ring, Cena connects with a gut-wrench suplex. He whips Otunga into the corner, but misses a spear, catching the ring post. Otunga misses with an elbow giving Cena the opening he needs. He connects with the five knuckle shuffle and follows with the Attitude Adjustment. Cena locks in the STF and Otunga quickly taps.

Winner via submission: John Cena

Otunga is licking his wounds in the back, and Barrett points out his losing streak. Barrett wants Otunga to redeem himself, by taking the Nexus back to Smackdown and take on Edge. If he loses to Edge, though, he is done.

Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov walk to the ring dressed as proper Englishmen for tea time. They will hopefully be sitting down with Sheamus to make peace with him. Santino says they have studied English culture. The crowd loves Santino; he is actually getting laughs. Santino says they have ginger tea, and the crowd loves it. Sheamus compares Santino to the village idiot. Santino then tries to play psychologist with Sheamus and the crowd is eating out of Santino’s hand. Kozlov reminds Santino that he beat Sheamus, which is why Sheamus is mad. Santino offers Sheamus more tea, but spills it all over him. Sheamus flips the table, when the GM fires off an email. The GM wants some action; Santino will face Sheamus one on one without Kozlov at ringside.

Match #5 – Sheamus vs. Santino

Santino flees the ring and runs into the crowd. The GM sends Cole an email, ordering Santino back into the ring or be suspended. Sheamus runs over Santino in the ring, and stomps away at him. Santino nails Sheamus with a low blow and the ref calls for the bell. Santino celebrates, not realizing that Sheamus has gotten to his feet. One big boot knocks out Santino, and Sheamus picks him up for the Irish Curse. John Morrison runs in and makes the save connecting with a spinning roundhouse kick. He then drags Santino from the ring.

Winner via disqualification: Sheamus

Cena watches the promo for Wrestlemania, when Wade Barrett tells him to imagine never being there ever again. All he has to do is raise Barrett’s hand next Sunday.

Randy Orton, The Miz, R-Truth, Daniel Bryan, and Mark Henry vs. Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Michael McGillicutty, and Husky Harris – John Cena Special Referee

(I understand why WWE books these 10 man tag matches on the overseas tours, but I don’t have to like it on TV.)

Cena loses control as all ten men fight in the ring. Orton’s team clears the ring, as David Otunga makes his way to the ring. Otunga watches from in front of the announce table. Orton drops Barrett with the elevated DDT, but Barrett quickly recovers. Cena lets a whole lot of nonsense go on, but while admonishing Nexus, Alex Riley ran in and hit Orton with the briefcase. The Miz hits Orton with the Skull Crushing Finale, allowing Barrett the cover Orton. Cena makes the three count and Barrett gets the win. Nexus carry Barrett off on their shoulders.
