Impact: Morgan steps up, takes title shot
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on TNA Impact: Last week, Matt Morgan stood up for concussed wrestlers and subsequently was booted from both Fortune and Immortal. What do those groups have in store for the "DNA of TNA" tonight? Plus, both EV2 and Fortune continue their internal bickering with EV2 being much more worse off when the night ends.

As always, tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Fla. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.

Ric Flair is giving Eric Bischoff a pep talk backstage. Bischoff is in a gi and MMA gloves. He and a referee come out to the ring. Bischoff says he wants to address Matt Morgan. He says he, Flair and Hulk Hogan have decided that Morgan is persona non grata. He tells Morgan to stay away from the Impact Zone and "good luck in your future endeavors." They then turn their attention to Mr. Anderson. Bischoff says he's going to give Anderson one more opportunity to face Jeff Hardy at Turning Point. To do that, Anderson will have to come out and pin Bischoff and then sign the contract. He then says he read the doctors reports and Anderson is probably at home with an ice bucket on his head. Bischoff says that if Anderson doesn't come out later, he'll never get a shot at Hardy. Then he provides a sample of what Anderson can expect. He then attacks the referee who unlocked Morgan's handcuffs "prematurely" last week. Then he fires him.

EV2 is arguing backstage when Fortune walks in. AJ Styles suggests they just kill each other. Styles gets in Rhino's face and Rhino tries to tackle him and Styles sidesteps him and Rhino goes barreling into Rob Van Dam.

Time to talk to Mr. Anderson on the phone. He says this concussion is the worst of his 11-year career. He says he's on the way to the Mayo Clinic to get it checked out. They talk about Morgan and Anderson says if Morgan has his back, he has Morgan's.

The Beautiful People are backstage. Velvet Sky asks Angelina Love to let her go it alone. They embrace and Velvet leaves and then Winter shows up. She says she'll never leave Angelina and she won't be alone again. Then Angelina leaves.

Match #1 - Sarita (Mexico City, Mexico) vs. Velvet Sky (Parts Unknown)

Velvet with two chops and Sarita responds with a back elbow. She loads Velvet up for the double underhook power bomb but Velvet slides out the back. Facebuster for Velvet. Sarita throws Velvet to the outside and kicks her as she comes back in. She follows that up with the double underhook sitout power bomb for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Sarita

Fortune is walking backstage when Douglas Williams and Kazarian bickering. Flair says those two should settle it "Horseman style." That means in the ring later tonight.

Match #2 - Max Buck (Los Angeles, Calif.), Jeremy Buck (Los Angeles, Calif.) & Tara (State of California) vs. Shannon Moore (Whispering Pines, NC), Jesse Neal (Orlando, Fla.) & Mickie James (Richmond, Va.)

Max Buck goes to work on Neal. Earlier in the match, Taz said Neal's mohawk flares "like a pack of hemorrhoids." I cannot make this up. Neal starts to get going but he's pull out of the ring by Jeremy Buck. He ducks a clothesline but runs right into a kick from Tara as the referee is distracted. Then things break down and James hits a headscissors takedown on Max. Moore hits a moonsault on Max but Tara breaks up the pin. This brings James in with a Thesz Press. She dispatches of Tara and gets stalked by Max. Mickie hits Max with her kick and Ink Inc. follows it up with the Moorgasm and that's it.

Winners via pinfall: Ink Inc. & Mickie James

Per usual, the heels attack the faces following a loss.

Jeff Jarrett is out. He first address Kurt Angle. He runs him down for trying to attack Bischoff and Flair when it was he who did the damage. He says Angle needs to go home where he can all alone. Then he moves on to Samoa Joe. He says he's truly sorry. Then he says he wishes the stage was higher. Next it's on to all the fans. He never wants to hear "you sold out" yelled at him again. Of course, the crowd immediately starts chanting it. He talks over them and says he bought in.

Jarrett is walking back up the ramp when Samoa Joe busts through the entrance ramp and starts attacking Jarrett. He sets Jarrett up for the Muscle Buster when Gunner and Murphy make the save and take the beating.

Well, Jarrett escapes and Gunner and Murphy make their own comeback. Joe fights them off and hits a Muscle Buster.

Match #3 - Triple Threat Match for the TNA World Television Championship - (c) AJ Styles (Gainesville, Ga.) vs. Rob Van Dam (Battle Creek, Mich.) vs. Rhino (Detroit, Mich.)

Rhino goes for a Gore but Styles sidesteps him and Rhino goes flying into the corner. While Styles works on Rhino, RVD comes up and kicks him. Rolling Thunder for RVD but Styles gets up and RVD stops. RVD sends Styles to the apron. Styles tries to springboard in but RVD kicks him to the floor. RVD goes to follow up when Rhino stops him for some reason. They argue and Styles comes in and hits both of them with a flying forearm. He then rolls up RVD and holds the tights to get the fall.

Winner via pinfall and STILL TNA World Television Champion: AJ Styles

RVD and Rhino argue and this brings EV2 out. They have to be pulled away from each other. RVD decks Raven. Tommy Dreamer grabs a mic and then RVD accuses him of being the mole. Dreamer says RVD needs his head fixed and it needs to be done old school. He proposes RVD and Dreamer meet at Turning Point. RVD accepts and tells Dreamer to tell his boy Bischoff it's on.

Match #4 - Douglas Williams (The United Kingdom) vs. Kazarian (Anaheim, Calif.)

Flair is on commentary and Beer Money is at ringside. Lots of mat based action. They actually do a Greco-Roman Knuckle Lock. Williams is getting the best of much of the match but Kazarian hits a spinning heel kick. Then they bonk heads and both are down. Flying European uppercut for Williams. Kazarian with a crossbody but Williams rolls it through for two. Running knee and an exploder suplex for two for Williams. For some reason, James Storm ends up on the apron and Williams is sent into him. This is a distraction enough to allow Kazarian to roll Williams up and get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Kazarian

There's some arguing following the match but Flair calms everybody down and Kazarian and Williams shake hands.

Match #5 - Abyss (Parts Unknown) vs. The Pope (Harlem, NY)

They brawl to the outside when some fans get mouthy with Abyss. He pie-faces one and pulls another over the rail and smashes him. The bell rings. Then he goes to the other side and beats three more fans down.

Well, the bell rang, the match is over and I have no idea what the result was. Disqualification or no contest?

Pope has the mic and challenges Abyss to a "Pope's Congregation" lumberjack match at Turning Point. Abyss accepts.

Eric Bischoff is out for his challenge. He calls out Mr. Anderson. He then has Jeremy Borash do the most over the top ridiculous introduction in the history of wrestling. This was awesome. Borash does an intro for Anderson where Anderson is disparaged. Then Borash stops reading because he says Anderson won't be here. Then Bischoff challenges Borash to a match and just attacks him. Then Anderson's music hits. The lights go off and it's Matt Morgan behind Bischoff in the ring.

Match #6 - Eric Bischoff (Cody, Wy.) vs. Matt Morgan (Fairfield, Conn.)

Morgan hits Bischoff with the Carbon Footprint and pins him.

Winner via pinfall: Matt Morgan

Impact goes off the air as Earl Hebner counts three. We pick things back up on Reaction and Morgan signs the contract to face Jeff Hardy for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Turning Point.
