WWE NXT: Wedding bells are ringing for one rookie
MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on WWE NXT: The abomination that is NXT rolls on with another all-out burial of the competitors. This time, though, one competitor, Naomi, takes Michael Cole to task for his commentary. Elsewhere, a pro proposes marriage to a rookie diva. Should be a good one!
And we are LIVE! from Portland, Ore. Michael Cole and Josh Mathews are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).
Striker welcomes out the five remaining NXT rookies. They all have airhorns. Striker says the next elimination will come in three weeks time. He says the competition immunity slate is wiped clean. Tonight's competition is "WWE Name That Tune" where five seconds of an entrance theme is played and they have to guess.
The first tune is Sheamus and AJ gets it first. Theodore Long's is up next and AJ gets it again. Santino Marella's is next and Naomi gets it. Edge is next and again, AJ gets it. John Cena's is next and it's AJ again. Kofi Kingston is next and AJ gets it. Striker makes fun of the others for not playing. Next two are The Miz and Melina and AJ gets them both. Cole asks if there is a mercy rule for the competition.
Time for round two with three-second snippets. AJ gets DX and then Randy Orton. Zack Ryder goes to AJ. Dusty Rhodes goes to AJ, too. Trish Stratus goes to AJ. None of them guess the Legion of Doom. AJ gets Mr. McMahon and that's it.
AJ wins with 1,900 points. Naomi has 100 and Maxine, Aksana and Kaitlyn have 0. Wow.
Match #1 - Alicia Fox vs. Naomi
Naomi gets going early with some clotheslines and dropkicks. She then uses her backside to Alicia's face. This sends Alicia out of the ring and she tries to buy some time. Naomi lets her and Alicia kick her in the gut. Alicia gets going but Naomi kicks her in the face for two. Naomi puts Fox in the corner and hits a spinning heel kick. Naomi goes for a flying crossbody but Fox moves. She goes for the ax kick but it's completely botched. They go to the cover and Naomi kicks out at two. They try it again and it's slightly better and Fox gets the pin.
Winner via pinfall: Alicia Fox
Goldust and Aksana are backstage. Aksana is upset about her working papers and her attorney says there's no options with her working papers and she could have to go back for six months. Goldust says they are going to take care of it together. He says she has to focus.
It's time for each rookie diva to cut a promo. They each have one minute. Naomi says someone on this show has been getting on her last nerve and it's Michael Cole. She pretty much buries him for his negativity and says he's not Jim Ross. He gets some jabs in, including pointing out the unoriginality of a JR joke. AJ cuts a goofy promo about being a nerd in the form of a personal ad to which Striker says "I'm more of a Craigslist kinda guy." The commentary table just erupted in laughter to this. Kaitlyn takes about Vickie Guerrero. She says Dolph Ziggler and her got together and got her a present. It's Bengay. This bombed.
Aksana talks about America and hopes someone from immigration is watching. She thanks Christopher Columbus. This was something. Maxine's topic is disrespect. She says last week she was disrespected by Hornswaggle. She says she'll always end up on top. She then turns to Kaitlyn and says she's lucky to have Vickie Guerrero as her pro. She calls Kaitlyn a homewrecker for her relationship with Ziggler.
Mercifully, like Impact last week, this segment is over.
Backstage Vickie Guerrero and Kaitlyn talk. Guerrero says they can either make each other miserable or they can let bygones be bygones. Kaitlyn says she's cool with that. Then Guerrero goes off saying if Kaitlyn ever touches Dolph, being eliminated from NXT will be the least of her worries.
It's now time for the "Power of the Punch" challenge. Naomi goes a hammersledge and gets 811, but she is told she can't do it with two hands, so she goes it again and gets 801. AJ gets a 362. Kaitlyn gets a four after trying a running punch. Aksana gets a 666. Maxine drills it and gets a 604. At one point during this, Cole admits to playing the Kenny Powers baseball game on his phone during the competition.
That means Naomi is your runaway winner.
Match #2 - Aksana vs. AJ
Rough start for Aksana early as they are telling the story she is lacking confidence. But she does hit the Goldust slide down uppercut. Aksana tries a body slam but AJ slides out and rolls Aksana up.
Winner via pinfall: Aksana
Goldust grabs the mic and says they have options. Aksana says there are no options. Goldust suggests that they get married. He then proposes marriage to her right there in the ring. She looks around for a bit then smiles and says yes. They celebrate as the show goes off the air.
