RAW: Cenation allies with Nexus
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Going into RAW tonight I truly expected for Nexus to be finished. There is no way John Cena is losing to Wade Barrett; boy was I wrong. The Cena in Nexus era starts tonight, as Jackass 3-D star Johnny Knoxville guests stars on RAW tonight from Wichita, Kansas.

Wade Barrett leads his troops to the ring, eager to announce their newest member. First, Barrett reveals who hit the ring last night to help him out. Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris interfered, but Barrett says he didn’t ask them for help. Barrett then asks his men why they came to the ring, when they could have gotten him disqualified. Barrett isn’t too concerned, though, he is here to introduce John Cena, the newest member of Nexus.

John Cena walks out with no fanfare. Tarver says they have a gift or him, a Nexus armband. Cena reluctantly puts it on. Heath Slater tells Cena that they are here for him, in fact they have written up a statement for him to read. Barrett tells him he has to do it. The statement reads that Cena is now a part of Nexus, and any enemy of Nexus is an enemy of his. Barrett tells Cena he will be part of a tag team to face Evan Bourne and Mark Henry. Cena is allowed to choose his partner and he picks Michael Tarver. And that match starts now.

Match #1 – John Cena and Michael Tarver vs. Evan Bourne and Mark Henry

Cena shakes hands with Bourne, enraging Tarver. He demands to be tagged in so he can show John the Nexus way. And we go to break.

After the commercials, Mark Henry is in full control of Michael Tarver. Henry beats him into the corner. Bourne tags in and starts working Tarver on the mat. The big man tags back in, as Tarver crawls to his corner. Cena has an arm out, but pulls it back as Tarver tries to make a tag. Henry continues to wear Tarver down, and makes a tag. Bourne connects with a standing moonsault, and then kicks Tarver in the knee. Tarver answers by throwing Bourne across the ring, but Cena still refuses to tag in. In fact, he hops off the apron to go sign autographs for some lucky fans. Tarver can’t believe what he is seeing, and doesn’t notice Mark Henry waiting for him. Henry picks him up and hits the World’s Strongest Slam. Henry covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Mark Henry and Evan Bourne

After the match, Cena makes a statement of his own. He has one goal, to destroy Nexus from within. He knocks Tarver from the ring, and then clobbers him with a clothesline on the floor. Cena picks Tarver up and slams him on the ring steps. The crowd wants another one, and Cena obliges their wishes. Tarver is rolled back into the ring, and Cena locks in the STF. Cena keeps the hold locked in, only breaking the hold when the GM fires off an email. Michael Cole tells Cena (as per the GM) that he must take his lead from Wade Barrett. If Cena doesn’t follow Barrett, the GM would be forced to fire him.

Match #2 – Alicia Fox vs. Natalya

Natalya gets Alicia to tap in the Sharp Shooter in under two minutes.

Winner via submission: Natalya

Johnny Knoxville is talking about his movie with Gal Kim and Melina. He then gets Zack Ryder with the high five gag, hitting him with a giant hand.

Josh Matthews asks Cena what he is going to now that the GM has laid down the law. Cena takes off to the Nexus locker room, but stops in his tracks once there. Barrett tells him they have a lot to talk about.

Match #3 – Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan

Sheamus picks Bryan up, dumping him in the corner, where he proceeds to beat on the US Champion. Sheamus relentlessly drives his knee into Bryan’s head, and the ref calls for the bell. Sheamus doesn’t stop, nailing Bryan with the High Cross.

Winner via DQ: Daniel Bryan

Michael Cole is in the ring to speak for the GM. The GM will only be talking via email read by Michael Cole, the voice of WWE. (His words, not mine.) The GM calls Edge's act of defiance unacceptable. He wants an apology out of Edge, and will then make an announcement about the WWE Championship. Edge refuses to apology, as he is on a crusade against all things stupid. Edge calls Cole the personification of stupid since 1997. He would rather listen a recording of Jim Ross than a live Cole. (I second that.) The GM fires off an email. A new number one contender will be decided tonight in a 20-man over the top rope battle royal. Edge will not be involved in that match, though, because he is being shipped off to Smackdown! The GM has pulled off a trade, but the terms have not been disclosed. Edge is thrilled to get off of RAW. Cole demands Edge treat him with respect. Edge wonders if spearing Cole would be respectful, when The Miz interrupts. Miz tells him he will do no such thing. Edge calls Miz a wanna be. Miz says they are nothing alike. Edge agrees, because he has been WWE champion. Alex Riley sticks up for his boy. Edge says the Miz is awesome, at tapping out. Miz tells Edge to run off to Smackdown. Edge calls him a Jackass, takes out Riley, and smashes the Miz into the podium. Edge spears Riley, but Miz gets him with the Skull Crushing Finale.

Barrett tells Cena he did him a favor by taking out Tarver. Barrett wants help winning tonight’s battle royal. Cena asks what if he wins. Otunga tells Cena that if Barrett gets eliminated, he has to help the other members of Nexus.

Match #4 – The Bella Twins vs. LayCool

LayCool are miked up for tonight’s match so they can provide commentary during their match. (And I thought Diva matches couldn’t get any worse.) The Bellas pull the switch, as Layla was getting admonished by the ref. Michelle gets rolled up as the Bellas get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: The Bella Twins

Maryse accuses Knoxville off sending those notes. Ted Dibiase also yells at him, but runs into the giant prop hand. He is knocked to the ground; Maryse doesn’t learn, because when she goes to help, she gets a giant slap across the back, and is knocked onto Ted. Knoxville runs off.

Justin Roberts introduces Johnny Knoxville to the ring. He thanks everyone, but is in a hurry to get out of there. DiBiase and Maryse corner him in the ring. Knoxville tries to apologize, but just insults DiBiase even more. Ted slaps him across the face and then locks in Dream Street. The saga isn’t over, as another message flashes across the TitanTron. DiBiase and Maryse turn around and come face to face with Goldust. He slams DiBiase to the mat, and says he doesn’t want him. Maryse is almost in tears, as Goldust corners her. He doesn’t want her either, though. He drops to his knees in front of the Million Dollar Title, and says he wants that. Goldust picks up the belt.

WWE is having a contest to win tickets to see Nickleback in Las Vegas. If I win do I actually have to go to the concert?

David Otunga sits down and has a heart to heart with John Cena. Otunga says he is there for Cena if he ever needs to talk.

Match #5 – 20 Man Battle Royal – Number One Contender Match

Sheamus eliminates Evan Bourne right off the bat, and then takes out David Hart Smith. William Regal is eliminated by Cena. The Miz knocks out Santino Marella, as Mark Henry throws Zack Ryder over the top rope. He does the same to Primo Colon. Cena saves Wade Barrett from elimination at the hands of Mark Henry. Nexus then eliminates Henry without the help of Cena. Otunga yells at him, so Cena tosses him over the ropes. We go to commercial.

John Morrison eliminates Heath Slater, and then teams with R-Truth to pick up Barrett. Cena runs over to stop them. Morrison does eliminate Tyson Kidd with a springboard kick though. Morrison keeps up his momentum by knocking out The Miz. Cena protects Barrett once again, but going after Sheamus. R-Truth knocks out Justin Gabriel, thinning the numbers of Nexus, although, R-Truth doesn’t last long after that. Barrett sends DiBiase packing. Morrison knocks himself off the apron trying to kick Barrett. Cena and Sheamus square off, as Barrett lies in the corner. He hits the five knuckle shuffle, but Sheamus counters the AA with the Irish Curse. Cena dodges the bicycle kick, and Sheamus is hung up on the ropes. Cena knocks him to the floor, leaving Cena with a decision. Barrett orders him from the ring. If Cena doesn’t follow his orders, he will be fired. Cena begrudgingly follows Barrett’s wishes, but not after getting in his face. Cena finally steps over the top rope, and jumps to the floor, eliminating himself. Wade Barrett is the new Number One Contender.

Winner: Wade Barrett

After the match, WWE Champion Randy Orton enters the ring to face his new challenger. Orton lifts the title high as the two men stare each other down and the show ends.
