Superstars: Raw versus Smackdown battle on Thursday night
By MATT JOHNSON - SLAM! Wrestling

It’s Raw versus Smackdown this week on Superstars. Which Superstars are going head to head? Is it John Cena vs. The Undertaker? Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho? Sheamus vs. Kane? We will see which two compete momentarily.

Match #1 – Primo vs. JTG

Raw versus Smackdown in this match. The audio seems a little off. Striker sounds different in particular. It is like he is announcing through a McDonald’s drive through. JTG goes on offense. Stryker brings up that JTG is wearing Timberland boots. JTG hits some punches in the corner, but Primo strikes back and throws JTG outside the ring. Primo throws JTG into the ring steps and we are off to commercial.

After the break, Primo is on offense in the ring. Primo applies body scissors and an arm bar at the same time. Primo charges the corner, but JTG hits a big boot. Primo sweeps the leg, but misses a headbutt. JTG hits some clotheslines and a back body drop. JTG hits a shoulder block, but when he attempts a finishing move, Primo hits a back stabber and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Primo

I would have once considered this a major upset. But, JTG is not going anywhere and Primo has a future because he can speak Spanish. That is a very attractive skill from WWE’s perspective.

Highlights (if that is what they are) air from NXT. They played musical chairs.

Instead of a match, a replay of John Cena’s gauntlet match with Nexus from this past Monday airs. I will not go through the details of the match again. Check out the Raw report on the SLAM! Wrestling home page.

Match #2 – Goldust vs. William Regal

It sure feels like these two have wrestled about 8 times on Superstars. Here we go again. I dare WWE to give them a serious storyline on Raw. The two veterans feel each other out early. Regals slows it down and applies a version of a headlock. Goldust sneaks out and Regal escapes the ring. Goldust chases Regal, but Regal beats him down outside the ring. Commercial.

After the break, Regal is working over the knee of Goldust. Regal works over Goldust in the corner and shuts down all attempts by Goldust to break out. Almost out of nowhere, Goldust hits the Final Cut and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Goldust

There was no transition in that match. Regal was dominating and then Goldust hit his move and got the win. Apparently, wearing down an opponent does not matter anymore. Superstars was short and to the point this week, with only two matches. The action was decent, however. WWE also got to plug Hell in the Cell, which is coming up in two weeks.
