WWE NXT: Welcome to The Gong Show
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: There are no words for what this show has become except this: The best thing going in World Wrestling Entertainment. On this edition, the train wreck continues. CM Punk joins the commentary team to replace Michael Cole, except Cole returns late in the show to make a three-man team. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Bloomington, Ill. Josh Mathews is our commentator and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

First off, we are introduced to NXT's newest commentator CM Punk, who comes out to the ring in a suit coat and his ring gear. This will be great.

Striker brings out all the rookies. Then Vickie Guerrero excuses herself into the ring. She says Kaitlyn will face Jamie tonight, then brings out Lay-Cool to give her some further coaching.

Lay-Cool runs down all the rookies until Kelly Kelly's had enough and challenges Lay-Cool and Kaitlyn to a match with her, Jamie and Naomi. They accept.

It's time for the challenge. It's musical chairs. Kaitlyn is eliminated first. Jamie is next. This is hilarious watching most of them wearing high heels and skirts. They wobble around the chairs and then try to cross their legs as fast as they can once they sit. Maxine and Aksana are gone. It's down to Naomi and AJ. They sit nearly at the same time but AJ sits down a split second sooner despite Naomi getting more of her body on the chair.

After an Aksana video package, she is shown backstage looking sad. She tells Goldust that she has been contacted by the government because of some issues with her papers and could be deported.

Match #1 - Maxine vs. AJ

Maxine puts in a headlock and Punk says this is "vintage Maxine." Ha! AJ into the corner but she hits Maxine with a kick and fires up. The finish is something I can't describe. Appeared to be horribly messed up with Maxine hitting a brainbuster but AJ rolling on top of her for the pin?

Winner via pinfall: AJ

As AJ is celebrating, she is interrupted by Michael Cole, who cuts a promo and says he is coming back to NXT. He is going to bring journalistic integrity to this show. Punk is standing and clapping. It appears we have a three-man booth. Oh my goodness.

We come back to commentary and Cole has his arm around Punk. They send it to Striker for the "Talk the Talk Challenge" where they are given a random topic.

Jamie's topic is teeth. She ignores that and says she wants to talk about what she can bring. She then says she is going to show what smart, sexy and powerful means. Cole wants to know where his gong is. Naomi's topic is toupee. She can't think of anything. She asks aren't they here to wrestle. She wants a match. Striker says Naomi has been disqualified. Then Striker says Jamie is disqualified, too.

AJ's topic is caffeine. This one is right up her alley. She says she's natural dynamite. Aksana's topic is llama. She talks to Striker and asks him to show her a llama. Time runs out before she speaks. Maxine's topic is foot. She says she can use her foot to squash AJ. Kaitlyn's topic is ignition. She goes off topic about advice she received about picturing people in their underwear. She barely talks about ignition. This was ... wow. AJ wins.

Match #2 - Kelly Kelly, Naomi & Jamie vs. Michelle McCool, Layla & Kaitlyn

Layla mocks Jamie's physique early going. Layla brings in Kaitlyn and she spears Jamie. Naomi in and Kaitlyn brings in McCool. Naomi gets going with a running elbow and a dropkick. She then hits a spinning heel kick on McCool in the corner, landing out on the apron. Layla, though, distracts Naomi and McCool hits a belly-to-belly. Kaitlyn runs in and McCool sends her back and then tags her in. She pins Naomi, but she's too late and Naomi rolls her over and pins her.

Winners via pinfall: Kelly Kelly, Naomi & Jamie

After the match, Lay-Cool gets in Kaitlyn's face. She pushes McCool. Layla drops down and clamps on her leg. As she bends over, McCool just lays a vicious kick into her face. Guerrero gives her the bad mouth to end the show.
