ROH: Delirious and A-Double battle in the cage
By MATT MACKINDER - SLAM! Wrestling

So it turns out that due to the numerous emails, with mostly rude ones from out Vancouver way, that HDNet is indeed available in Canada. I had noted that it wasn’t in last week’s Ring Of Honor report and I suppose that’s what happens when you listen to those in charge of this website.

In any event, we’re back at it this week and in Canada or the United States, HDNet is ready to go with ROH.

Mike Hogewood and Dave Prazak are our broadcasters and we get right to the action from The Arena in South Philadelphia.

Match #1 – The Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis & Kory Chavis) vs. The Necro Butcher & Erick Stevens w/ Prince Nana & Mr. Ernesto Osiris

Prince Nana gets on the mic and tries to distract DCFC so his guys representing the Embassy can come in from behind. Davis and Chavis battle back and soon, the advantage changes, but not until Davis absorbs a couple restholds.

Davis tags in Chavis and all four men are in the ring. While the ref is checking on Davis and Necro on the floor, Stevens nails his Gonorrhea finisher (Olympic slam into a DDT-type maneuver) on Chavis for three.

Winners via pinfall: The Necro Butcher & Erick Stevens

Last week’s lumberjack match main event between Delirious and Austin Aries gets recapped, hyping tonight’s cage match main event between the same two.

Aries is backstage with Kyle Durden and gives your typical “I will win because” interview.

Match #2 – Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana vs. Jay Freddie

Total squash. Cabana wins with his reverse Boston crab finisher, the Billy Goat’s Curse.

Winner via submission: Colt Cabana

Steve Corino attempts to blindside Cabana after the match with a fork, but Cabana fights back and Corino bails.

Hogewood and Prazak discuss “Glory By Honor IX” and we get footage from Sept. 11 where Kevin Kelly interviews fans outside the Manhattan Center. We also see how Roderick Strong unseated ROH World champ Tyler Black and who made his return to ROH that night – Homicide.

Jim Cornette’s sitdown interview with Davey Richards is shown again. Good stuff here and great to know Davey is sticking around.

Match #3 – Taeler Hendrix vs. Sara Del Rey w/ Shane Hagadorn & The Kings Of Wrestling

A pretty quick match here that sees Del Rey catch Hendrix coming off the top with a big boot and then get a tap-out with a cross armbreaker.

Winner via submission: Sara Del Rey

Del Rey celebrates in the ring with Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli post-match.

More history on the Delirious-Aries feud is shown. I love the build-up ROH utilizes in pushing their feuds. No two-week feuds and then blow-off here, people.

Next week’s main event is announced and it will feature the new ROH champ teaming with The House of Truth (Christian Able and Josh Raymond) against “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels and The Briscoe Brothers.

Match #4 – Steel Cage Match - Delirious w/ Daizee Haze vs. Austin Aries

Once Aries gets to the ring, he grabs Daizee by the hair. Delirious kicks open the cage door, knocking down both Daizee and Aries. Delirious tells his girl to go back to the locker room and once both guys are in the ring, the door is shut and the two face-off in the middle of the ring.

Delirious gains control and heads to the top of the cage. Aries gets up and throws Delirious off the top and throat-first onto the top rope. A double axehandle off the top puts Delirious down. Aries then throws Delirious into the cage and then dropkicks him into the cage. Aries walks the top rope taunting the crowd before trying to rip Delirious’ mask off. Delirious is bleeding heavily from under the hood.

A-Double slams Delirious and lands an elbow for a two-count. Delirious battles back with headbutts and sends Aries into the cage multiple times. No juice, though. This is an old school-type cage match and the crowd definitely appreciates it.

The two continue to go back and forth and Delirious hits his cobra suplex. Delirious kicks Aries into a corner and then tries to get a submission with the cobra stretch. Kenny King and Rhett Titus try and climb the cage, but Delirious knocks them both down.

A blow-for-blow exchange at the top of the cage ensues and when Delirious locks in the cobra stretch (essentially a cobra clutch) on top of the cage, Aries surprisingly taps.

Winner via submission: Delirious

Titus and King enter the ring and give Delirious two spike piledrivers. The three heels leave the ring, while Delirious is tended to in the ring.

'Til next week, folks.
