ROH: Delirious and Aries' latest go-round
By MATT MACKINDER - SLAM! Wrestling

While HDNet is unavailable in Canada, it is available in the United States. That's why starting tonight, SLAM! Wrestling will start covering Ring Of Honor's weekly Monday night show on the network.

And Matt Mackinder is back in the saddle.

In tonight's main event, Delirious and Austin Aries continue their feud in a lumberjack match. The House of Truth is also in action, while Christopher Daniels and Rhett Titus battle as well.

We start out with Kyle Durden interviewing Grizzly Redwood backstage from "earlier today." Aries interrupts and wants Grizzly to help him out in the main event with a cheapshot on Delirious. Redwood says that being a professional lumberjack, he must uphold the lumberjack code of ethics. Aries appears to be OK with this, but instead drills Grizzly from behind and threatens Delirious and Daizee Haze.

Mike Hogewood and Dave Prazak are our broadcasters and we get right to the action from The Arena in South Philadelphia.

Match #1 - "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels vs. "Addicted To Love" Rhett Titus w/ Austin Aries

Just as this match starts, a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen lets us know that Roderick Strong beat Tyler Black for the ROH World title last Saturday night at the "Glory By Honor IX" Internet pay-per-view.

Headlocks from Daniels and armdrags from Titus rule the first part of this match. Daniels gains command with some offense before he goes to the second rope and gets dropkicked to the floor by Titus, who then takes over.

Daniels locks the Koji Clutch on Titus, who taps, but referee Todd Sinclair is tied up with Aries. After Titus inadvertantly knocks Aries to the floor, Daniels slams Titus and then ends it with the Best Moonsault Ever.

Winner via pinfall: Christopher Daniels

No backstage skits here or backstage boredom here, folks. We're onto our next match.

Match #2 - The House of Truth (Christian Able & Josh Raymond) w/ Truth Martini vs. Ricky Reyes & Aiden Chambers

Pretty much a squash here, but Reyes and Chambers get a few moments of offense. Able and Raymond get the win after a double-team maneuver on Chambers.

Winners via pinfall: The House of Truth

Back from break, Hogewood and Prazak hype this past weekend's "Glory By Honor IX" Internet pay-per-view, but say to go to the ROH website for all results.

Jim Cornette's sitdown interview with Davey Richards concerning Richards' wrestling future is shown next. Recent rumors have had Davey retiring at the end of the year and he addresses the rumors by saying that the December "Final Battle" event will be his last match. He also talks of his marriage, getting on with married life and also his mother's addiction. Cornette then asks him for his decision and Davey says he's not going anywhere and because he's lost everything, including his marriage and grandparents, and wrestling is still here, he's not retiring. Kind of a confusing roller coaster interview, but I guess at the end of the day, Davey stays and that's definitely good news for ROH.

Match #3 - The American Wolves (Davey Richards and ROH TV champion Eddie Edwards) vs. The Super Smash Brothers

The Smash Brothers control the match early, including a double dive over the top onto both Wolves. Richards eventually fights back and he and Edwards mount a series of double-team moves onto Player Uno and Player Dos.

The next few minutes are an example of the solid tag division in ROH as the match goes back and forth. Edwards picks up Player Dos for a powerbomb, but on the way down, Richards jumps and brings Player Dos down onto his knees (think a mid-air Back Cracker). After a two-count, Edwards turns over Dos into the Achilles Lock (a half crab) and we get a tap-out.

Winners via submission: The American Wolves

Next is a quick montage recap of the Delirious-Aries feud to date. This has been going on for months and you really see how ROH builds feuds that last more than a Monday night match and then a stipulation match at a pay-per-view.

Match #4 - Lumberjack Match - Delirious vs. Austin Aries

As soon as the bell rings, Delirious goes right at Aries. Both get in some early shots until Aries winds up on top of Delirious and pounds away. Delirious fights out of a brain buster attempt and hits a chokeslam on Aries, who rolls to the floor on the heel side, where he isn't tossed back inside the ring.

Aries knocks Delirious to the floor, where the faces allow him a breather. The match swings to Aries' favor for the next couple minutes. Aries drops Delirious neck-first onto the top rope and the masked man lands in front of the faces. Aries then dives through the ropes into Delirious and a couple of the faces.

Aries keeps control in the ring and then both are down after Delirious hits a corkscrew neckbreaker. Delirious takes over and you get a sense the end of the match is coming even after a near-fall on Aries. Delirious hits a cobra suplex and as Aries rolls to the floor, Delirious flips onto Aries and the heels.

A brawl breaks out on the floor between all 20 lumberjacks and while Sinclair has his back turned, Titus runs in and hits a top-rope kneedrop on Delirious. A stunner-like move to Delirious' throat gets Aries three.

Winner via pinfall: Austin Aries

The show ends with a promo for next week's show - Delirious and Aries in a steel cage match.

'Til next week, folks.
