Countdown to WWE Hell in a Cell

I'll give WWE a heap of credit. Despite only having two weeks to build Hell
in a Cell, they've done a heck of a job building up the PPV.
Leaving aside a couple thrown-together matches (*cough*Divas*cough*), WWE is
working tonight's pay-per-view based on momentum from our last PPV Sunday and
not rushing angles to the big show (eg. Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio).
Does that compensate for there being too many PPVs in such a short timespan?
No, but it takes a bit of sting off the cable bill, knowing that if you're tuning
in tonight, you're going to, in all likelihood, get your money's worth.
Here's how the card shapes up.
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP HELL IN A CELL MATCH
Sheamus vs. Randy Orton |
And then there were two.
Yes, after the six-pack elimination bout we saw last month, two of the men
return for another go at it, this time in the ultimate steel confines. Orton's
experience in the cage, psychologically, gives him the advantage, while Sheamus
is improving every PPV and showing that he indeed belongs in the main event
mix. Props to him also adding the red glove after the tale he told on Raw.
It's a hard guess as to which title will close the show, but I'm going to guess
it will be this one, with Triple H finally returning. This is after all "his"
match and the final image of Hunter standing over Sheamus with sledgehammer
in hand would certainly be a strong one to carry over to Raw. As for the match,
I'll take Orton because they need to keep him with the belt, with the distinct
possibility, as you'll see below, of Orton vs. heel Cena at the Rumble.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP HELL IN
A CELL MATCH
Kane vs. Undertaker |
|
The X factor here is Paul Bearer. We have yet to see the father and son promo
between Bearer and Kane, so WWE has to work that dynamic into the feud, presumably
in time for the Survivor Series bout, which I said last time 'round should be
a Buried Alive match to kill this quarrel dead. 'Taker always raises his game
in the Cell, and Kane has such a connection to the bout that this should be
an awesome bout storywise. 'Taker also looked a lot better in his match vs.
Punk physically, so maybe he's healed up a bit more. I'm not expecting a classic,
but this should be a fun match to watch. In the end, I'm thinking Undertaker
gets the title, but will drop it soon after, possibly even to Punk.

NEXUS MEMBERSHIP MATCH
Wade Barrett vs. John Cena |
|
I can't see Nexus splitting up, especially with the classic faction event,
the Survivor Series, on the horizon. Thus, I think Cena loses here, and in and
around November it's revealed that Cena lost on purpose and finally does the
heel turn so many of us want.

DIVA'S TITLE MATCH
Natalya vs. Michelle McCool |
|
McCool is too annoying and should be taken to school by actual wrestler Natalya.
| |
UNITED STATES TITLE TRIPLE THREAD FALLS
COUNT ANYWHERE SUBMISSION MATCH
The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan vs. John Morrison |
|
For the last couple months, we've seen teases of Morrison turning heel. I'm
guessing the stips will help Morrison introduce his new and less fan-pleasing
finisher, which will somehow incorporate Parkour. I'm almost envisioning a Tarantula-like hold. Look for him to get this new finisher on Miz to get the win, then
transition into a feud with Bryan while Miz moves to a feud with Orton over
the WWE title.
