No public funeral for Luna Vachon
By GREG OLIVER - Producer, SLAM! Wrestling

The family of Gertrude (Trudy) Vachon -- known to wrestling fans as Luna -- have opted for a quiet, private funeral open to immediate family only.

In fact, when talking to SLAM! Wrestling, her father, Paul Vachon, declined to even give out the date.

Luna Vachon died on Friday, August 27th in Port Richey, Florida. The Medical Examiner's Office is looking into the cause of death, and according to the St. Petersburg Times, authorities don't suspect foul play.

Her father's sorrow was overwhelming.

"No parent should outlive their child," Butcher Vachon said.

He has been appreciative of all the postings on his Facebook page; he has been staying up late reading them. Should fans wish to send their condolences to the family, they will be forwarded by SLAM! Wrestling -- email goliver845@gmail.com.

Luna's mother, Van, is 80 years old, and the belief is that a public funeral would be far too taxing on her and the entire family.

Paul Vachon's third wife, Dee, remembered the good times back in February when Luna joined her and Paul for a cruise. We had a hell of a time on that. Her and I went four-wheeling through the jungle. ... We're happy that we got to spend that time with her."
