WWE NXT: Awful show features one of worst segments in company history
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on WWE NXT: The Miz battles one of the six remaining rookies in what ends up being a decent match. But before that, the show was completely torpedoed by one of the worst and most soul-sucking segments in WWE history. It was not a good one.
And we are TAPED! from Laredo, Texas. Michael Cole and Josh Mathews are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).
Striker is in the ring and brings out the NXT rookies. This show is becoming like a 2009 edition of Impact where each show opened with a Main Event Mafia promo.
Striker says it's time for a kissing contest and here with it is Michelle McCool and Layla. This is already just an atrocity of a segment.
As Husky Harris prepares to pucker up, they bring out a replacement. It's "Margaret" the 1993 Laredo Homecoming Queen. She is a rather large lady with something (quite possibly herpes) off the side of her mouth.
This could be the single worst segment in the history of WWE television. I will provide no further recap on this absolute abomination of a segment other than the winner: Lucky Cannon.
No words can describe how awful that segment was. It was an embarrassment to the company and a waste of more than 15 minutes of precious television time.
Match #1 - Kaval (Brooklyn, NY) vs. Husky Harris (Brooksville, Fla.)
Kaval knocks Harris out of the ring and slingshots onto him, but he's caught. Harris then slams him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Harris charges Kaval in the corner but eats a boot. In another corner, Kaval slaps away and hits a double stomp. Kaval misses a move in the corner and Harris catches him with a uranage and the senton drop and that's it.
Winner via pinfall: Husky Harris
They run a Miz promo on Michael McGuillicutty. Ashley Valance then has McGuillicutty and he wants a match with The Miz. Lucky Cannon comes up and says he wants a match with The Miz. Then Miz speaks up from the stage and says those two can battle it out to see who gets to face Miz. Kofi Kingston then suggests the winner of that match faces The Miz tonight.
Match #2 - Michael McGuillicutty (Champlin, Minn.) vs. Lucky Cannon (New Port Richey, Fla.)
Cannon squashed quickly again, as McGuillicutty picks up the win with the McGuillicutter.
Winner via pinfall: Michael McGuillicutty
Striker says it's time to put the Pros on the spot. He asks them who the worst Pro is. Kingston says LayCool. LayCool says Kingston is right now. Mark Henry says Zack Ryder. Cody Rhodes says Kofi Kingston. He asks Zack Ryder but he is interrupted by The Miz, who says they are all the worst. John Morrison bickers with him. It's bad. Then Miz goes to the ring.
Match #3 - Alex Riley (Georgetown, Va.) vs. Percy Watson (Miami, Fla.)
Huge back elbow connects for Watson but Riley takes over. Headlock for Riley but Watson gets out and hits two dropkicks. Watson with a sunset flip for two. But it's not long before Riley hits the TKO for the fall.
Winner via pinfall: Alex Riley
Match #4 - The Miz (Cleveland, Ohio) vs. Michael McGuillicutty (Champlin, Minn.)
Running kneelift for Miz and he goes to work. Small package for two for McGuillicutty and he eats a clothesline and a running dropkick. Chinlock for The Miz. McGuillicutty gets out and beats a muddle into Miz in the corner. Belly-to-belly throw for McGuillicutty. He misses a dropkick, though, and Miz kicks him in the face and comes up from behind and hits the Skull-Crushing Finale.
Winner via pinfall: The Miz
