RAW: Team Cena is falling apart
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

SummerSlam is still weeks away, so Monday Night RAW actually has a chance to build up some storylines. John Cena unveiled his “Dream Team” last week and chased Nexus out of the arena. What will happen this week in San Antonio? (Although, Bret Hart being on this Dream Team would be like adding Penny Hardaway to the Miami Heat.)

John Cena kicks off the show by cutting promo on Nexus, saying he and his team will end Nexus at SummerSlam. Cena then compares his team to the Justice League. Chris Jericho interrupts his teammate, claiming he is the leader of this team. He is in this only for one thing, to get back at Wade Barrett. Cena doesn’t care, and tells him it’s his team, all Cena wants is to beat Nexus. Jericho doesn’t want to be patronized. Cena slaps the microphone out of his hand, and Jericho backs down. Cena lays down the law; this is about the business, not the individual. Jericho still tries to play the alpha dog, and says he is the only chance they have to beat Nexus. Jericho then says Cena is a threat to the business. Jericho tells Cena he will be gunning for him when Nexus is finished. Cena tells Jericho to take his best shot, when the GM fires off an email. The match at SummerSlam will be an elimination match ala Survivor Series, and tonight Nexus will take on seven RAW superstars. In the meantime, Jericho and Cena will team up, and if you aren’t down with that, I got two words for you.

Match #1 – Randy Orton vs. Jey Uso w/ Jimmy Uso and Tamina

WWE Champion Sheamus watches from ringside. Orton dominates the match, until he lets his focus slip, trying to keep an eye on Sheamus. Orton connects with the elevated DDT, and follows with an RKO on Jey. Orton covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Randy Orton

After the match, Jimmy Uso jumps Orton from behind, as Orton stares down Sheamus. Orton fights back, but doesn’t see Sheamus slip into the ring. Orton sidesteps the bicycle kick and Sheamus lays out Jimmy. Orton hits the RKO and the champ is out.

The Miz runs down with a ref, with the intention of cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Miz calls for Sheamus to get to his feet, but Orton slips into the ring and hits Miz with an RKO. The match never starts, so Miz still has his Money in the Bank.

We return from break and The Miz and Sheamus are arguing in the ring. The GM puts a stop to that by sending an email saying that they will team up to face Jericho and Cena later tonight.

Edge is on the phone, when Khali barges in. Edge tries to weasel his way out of what he said earlier. Khali, through his translator, challenges Edge to a match, right now. Edge says fine, but if he wins, Khali is off the team.

Match #2 – The Great Khali vs. Edge

Michael Cole is flying solo, because Jerry Lawler has been named to the seven man team that will face Nexus later tonight. Khali chops Edge in the corner, and then stomps away. Khali misses a leg drop, and Nexus walks to the ring. Edge takes off into the crowd, and Khali is surrounded. Nexus allows Khali to leave the ring.

No Contest

Match #3 – Nexus vs. Jerry Lawler, Evan Bourne, David Hart Smith, Tyson Kidd, Yoshi Tatsu, and Goldust

Yoshi Tatsu and Michael Tarver face off to start the match, but Tatsu is eliminated quickly after a power slam.

Justin Gabriel tags in to face Jerry Lawler. The King hits the drop kick and then drops a fist from the second rope. Gabriel kicks out of the pin, and the Barrett pulls Gabriel from the ring. And we go to commercial.

During the break, the King was eliminated by Heath Slater. Smith and Kidd team up, but cannot pin Slater. Hart hits a back breaker, and works Slater over in the corner. Hart runs into a boot, but then catches Slater on the top turnbuckle. Slater floats over, Hart takes Gabriel out on the apron, but Slater hits a leg sweep and gets the pin.

Golddust steps in, and is quickly pinned by David Otunga after a spinebuster.

Mark Henry picks David Otunga up and drops him to the mat. Skip Sheffield gets the tag and beats on Henry. The World’s Strongest Man counters with a power slam. Henry brings Gabriel into the ring, but Sheffield is able to hit a clothesline and pin Henry.

Tyson Kidd enters the ring via the ropes, but he leaps right into a clothesline from Sheffield. Darren Young gets the tag, and covers for the pin.

Evan Bourne is all alone, but he tries to take on the entire Nexus. Wade Barrett catches Bourne and hits a fireman’s carry slam for the win.

Winner: Nexus

After the bell, Nexus continues to beat on Bourne. Wade Barrett grabs a microphone and gloats over their clean sweep. He says the cracks are starting to show in Cena’s team, and that will destroy them at SummerSlam.

Sheffield says Nexus will win because they have a singular focus.

The Miz is in the back, when Sheamus wants to explain something to him. Miz will never beat him for the title, Sheamus tells him to name the time and place. Miz says tonight, right after they beat Cena and Jericho. Sheamus knocks the MitB briefcase out of Miz’s hand.

Match #4 – Brie Bella w/ Nikki vs. Alicia Fox

Nikki tries to switch with her sister, but Jillian Hall stops her. Alicia hits the scissors kick and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Alicia Fox

After the match, Jillian wants to sing for Alicia. The Divas champ delivers a scissors kick to shut her up.

Match #5 – Ted DiBiase w/ Maryse vs. John Morrison

R-Truth joins Cole and King at the announce table. DiBiase hammers away at Morrison in the corner and then locks in a sleeper. Morrison fights back with a clothesline and then a spinning kick. Maryse distracts Morrison allowing DiBiase to roll up Morrison, who kicks out. R-Truth jumps to the apron, and Morrison is dropped into R-Truth. DiBiase rolls him up for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Ted DiBiase

After the bell, R-Truth and Morrison exchange some heated words in the ring. Cena looks worried watching his teammates fight from the back.

Josh Matthews wants to know why Randy Orton did what he did earlier. Orton explains that he doesn’t care who he faces at SummerSlam because they will answer to an RKO.

Match #6 – Sheamus and The Miz vs. John Cena and Chris Jericho

Both teams argue over who will start, but Miz makes that decision by trying to hit Cena with a cheap shot. Cena avoids it, and The Miz tags in Sheamus. The WWE champ slaps on a head lock, but Cena reverses the hold. Cena shoots off the ropes, and drives Sheamus into the corner. Jericho makes the tag, and slams the WWE Champ off the turnbuckle. Sheamus runs into a drop kick, and then spills to the floor as Jericho pulls off the old low bridge. The Miz yells at Sheamus as we go to break.

After the break, The Miz gets the tag with Cena down in the corner. Cena fights back, hitting a fisherman’s suplex. Jericho gets the tag, and walks right into a kick. Miz kicks Jericho in the ribs and then stomps him into the corner. Sheamus gets the tag, but cannot make the pin. The WWE champ connects with a back breaker, and tags in Miz. Jericho kicks him in the chin, and follows with a drop kick off the middle turnbuckle. Sheamus gets a tag, and prevents Jericho from making one. Sheamus locks in a camel clutch. Jericho fights out, but is stilled slammed into the corner. The Miz beats Jericho down in the corner, but misses a clothesline in the corner. Sheamus and Cena get tags, and Cena hits a sidewalk slam followed by the five knuckle shuffle. Miz distracts the ref, as Jericho hits his partner with the CodeBreaker. The Miz makes a blind tag and covers Cena for the three count.

Winner via pinfall: Sheamus and The Miz

After the match, Jericho puts Cena in the Walls, but Cena counters into the STF. Jericho taps, as Khali runs down to play peacemaker. Edge runs in and spears Khali. R-Truth and Morrison join the fray, as all seven men argue. Khali hits Morrison with an over hand chop, and the show goes to black as Team Cena is in disarray.
