Impact: TNA goes Extreme
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on TNA Impact: It's a night of stipulations, as TNA presents us with a street fight, an I Quit match, a triple threat match and a ladder match for the show's first four matches. Then, at the end of the show, all hell breaks loose as the former ECW four hit the ring, bringing out most of the TNA roster as an all-out brawl ensues. Should be a good one!
As always, tonight's taped show emanates from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Fla. "The Professor" Mike Tenay and The Tazz are our hosts.
We start out the show with the new Top-10 Contenders list:
10. Rob Terry
Abyss is out with his girl and a slab of meat. He says he has a plan for TNA World Champion Rob Van Dam and he'll show him that later, as he is awaiting the final plan from "them." Then he introduces us to Janice, the board full of nails. He then goes to town on the slab of meat, breaking Janice in the process. Then he starts chewing the raw meat.
Then it's to the back where Sarita and Taylor Wilde are brawling. They are scheduled for a street fight tonight.
Match #1 - Street Fight - Taylor Wilde (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Sarita (Mexico City, Mexico)
They brawl from the back to the outside of the ring. Wilde sends Sarita over the guardrail and into the crowd. Sarita grabs someone's purse from the crowd and starts choking Wilde out with it and she does.
Winner via referee stoppage: Sarita
Match #2 - I Quit Match - Brian Kendrick (Venice, Calif.) vs. Douglas Williams (The United Kingdom)
Williams gets to work with suplexes and then pulls out the glove from his tights and whitewashes Kendrick with it. But Kendrick fires up with a spinning heel kick and some more kicks. He hits a missile dropkick and then goes for the Cobra Clutch. Williams escapes and charges at Kendrick in the corner with a knee, but Kendrick moves and locks in the cobra clutch and Williams quits.
Winner via quitting: Brian Kendrick
Kevin Nash makes his way to the ring. Kendrick gives him the business as Nash is asking for a mic and eats a choke slam for his troubles. Nash says he's tired of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff dodging him. He says if he can't get their attention, he'll take out a couple of their young boys and maybe they will start paying attention. He goes to hit the Jackknife on Kendrick but Jeff Jarrett's music hits. Jarrett says it's not about Nash, it's not about him. Jarrett says Nash is a glory hound. Nash wants to know why Jarrett is taking up with Hogan and Bischoff and adds that if Jarrett wants trouble with him, he's got it.
Match #3 - Desmond Wolfe (London, England) vs. Rob Terry (Cardiff, Wales) vs. Samoa Joe (Isle of Samoa)
Joe locks in a kneeler but Wolfe makes the save. Wolfe takes over the match. He goes for a spinning toe hold but Terry pushes him into Joe, sending him flying off the apron. Now Terry gets going, lauching Wolfe into orbit with a blackbody drop. Then Joe gets back in, takes out Terry and locks in the Coquina Clutch on Wolfe and he taps.
Winner via submission: Samoa Joe
Match #4 - Match #1 in a Best-of-Five Series for the TNA World Tag Team Championship (Ladder Match) - Beer Money Inc. vs. (c ) Motor City Machine Guns (Detroit, Mich.)
The competitors are climbing the ladder to grab the open stipulation contract for Match #2.
Guns get things started by dropkicking both members of Beer Money to the floor then hitting suicide dives on them.
Beer Money isolate Shelley and hammer him with two ladders. But he ducks a ladder shot and Sabin comes flying in and hits them. Roode nearly decapitates Sabin with a clothesline. But Guns take back over and hit a double-team bulldog on Roode. Storm dispatches of Sabin, dragging him to the floor.
The Guns set Roode up on a ladder bridged between the ring and guardrail. Shelley comes in, steps on Roode and takes out Storm, then Sabin comes in with a splash. All four men in the ring. Guns dispatch of Storm and then there's a ref bump. Roode and Sabin on the ladder now. Roode sent out to the ramp. Sabin grabs the contract, but outside referee Earl Hebner was checking on Brian Hebner and this allows Storm to come flying in and he drills Sabin with the beer bottle. Earl Hebner looks up, sees Storm with the contract and calls for the bell.
Winners via stealing the contract: Beer Money Inc. (lead series 1-0)
Match #5 - Matt Morgan (Fairfield, Conn.) vs. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero (Harlem, NY)
Pope wins a quick match with a Codebreaker.
Winner via pinfall: D'Angelo Dinero
Morgan then attacks Pope and goes for the Carbon Footprint against the post, but Mr. Anderson makes the save with a chair. Anderson offers his hand to Pope but he doesn't accept.
Madison Rayne is out to formally protest the decision at Victory Road. She demands that within seven days that the decision is reversed and the title returned to her or she'll sue TNA for every penny its worth. Then Velvet Sky and Lacey Von Erich make their way to the ring.
Velvet is not happy about Rayne saying she doesn't need them anymore. Rayne says she doesn't. Velvet threatens to beat up Rayne when Angelina Love comes out. Love says they're all acting. Velvet says she's done. Rayne demands Love comes to the ring and gives her back the title. Love tells her to come get it. Rayne hits Love and she no sells it. Ric Flair is in the ring and he announces both AJ Styles and Kazarian as the first two members of Fortune. Then Desmond Wolfe comes out. He only gets a few words out before Abyss's music hits and he's on his way with Janice in hand. All four men in the ring bail and Abyss calls out RVD and he quickly makes his way to the ring.
Abyss says "they" have instructed him to win the TNA Title. He says they're going to take Janice, hang her 15 feet above the ring and they are going to have the most extreme match in the history of pro-wrestling.
RVD gets the mic and says a few words before plastering Abyss. He goes to work but then Abyss delivers a choke slam. Abyss goes to Janice but Mick Foley appears on the ramp. Abyss is stunned. Then Tommy Dreamer, Rhino, Stevie Richards and Raven jump the rail. Two security members come in and are dispatched of. Then some roster members get taken out. More security members and referees now.
