WWE NXT: Miz, Kaval meet for first time
MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling
Tonight on WWE NXT: With the next elimination three weeks away, the rookies get to breathe a bit, but still have to take part in the "Talk the Talk Challenge" with the winner getting their own talk show next week. Also, The Miz hooks up with Kaval for the first time. Should be a good one!
And we are "LIVE!" from Atlanta, Ga. Michael Cole and Josh Mathews are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).
Striker is in the ring and he welcomes us to NXT. He brings out the pros. Ryder asks who voted for Titus O'Neil as last. He says O'Neil was robbed and they all know it. Striker asks Morrison what he would do with the poll. He says O'Neil shouldn't have been eliminated. The Miz should have. He then brings out all the rookies and there is a podium in the ring.
It's time for the "Talk the Talk Challenge" where each rookie is given a topic. They have 10 seconds to think and 30 seconds to speak. The winner hosts their very own talk show next week on NXT.
Percy Watson is up first and his topic is "glasses." This man is the greatest. Kaval's topic is "chicken." He says he's not chicken and chicken's can't exist in WWE. Eli Cottonwood gets "mustache." He talks about not having a mustache at the beginning, then says he does have one. Michael McGuillicutty gets "breath." He says nothing about breath until saying "I'll take your breath away." Husky Harris gets "doorknob." He basically refuses to talk. Lucky Cannon gets "deodorant." Alex Riley gets "pigeon." He says he's the rooster in this hen-house.
By vote of the WWE Universe, PERCY WATSON is the winner!
Match #1 - Percy Watson (Miami, Fla., 1-1) vs. Michael McGuillicutty (Champlin, Minn., 3-0)
McGuillicutty locks in a headlock but Watson gets out and lands two dropkicks. McGuillicutty goes off the ropes, Watson ducks and McGuillicutty goes flying over top for a sunset flip and he actually gets him.
Winner via pinfall: Michael McGuillicutty
Match #2 - The Miz (Cleveland, Ohio) vs. Kaval (Brooklyn, NY, 1-2)
Miz controlling the early portion of the match. He hits the running corner clothesline and goes for a chinlock but Kaval gets out and reverses into a lateral press for two. This annoys Miz, who dumps Kaval to the outside, where he is consoled by Michelle McCool and Layla as Alex Riley gets in his face.
We're back and Miz is locking in a chinlock but Kaval gets to his feet. He elbows out only to be kicked. Miz misses a short clothesline and Kaval hits the sunset flip into the double stomp. Kaval gets rolling with kicks and gets a near fall. Kaval goes up for the Warrior's Way but Miz crotches him. He follows him up but Kaval knocks him down. Kaval rises but The Miz is too quick and sweeps his feet and puts him stomatch-first on the top turnbuckle. Miz drags him down and hits the Skull-Crushing Finale for the pin.
Winner via pinfall: The Miz
Match #3 - "Dashing" Cody Rhodes (Marietta, Ga.) & Husky Harris (Brooksville, Fla., 0-2) vs. Mark Henry (Silsbee, Texas) & Lucky Cannon (New Port Richey, Fla., 1-2)
Henry gorilla presses Henry and goes for a sit down, but Rhodes moves and that turns things around. He brings in Harris, who hits an avalanche. But as he gloats, Henry turns around and hits a power clothesline. Henry brings in Cannon as Harris tags Rhodes. Cannon gets going on Rhodes, forcing Harris to break a pin. Henry comes in and trucks Harris. The distraction allows Rhodes to recover to hit the Cross-Rhodes for the pin.
Winners via pinfall: Cody Rhodes & Husky Harris
