WWE NXT: Not 1, but 3 rookies eliminated from show
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE NXT: After tonight, one rookie isn't going to be so Wild and Young. That's right, tonight marks the first NXT elimination. The series, which has run since February, will finally see an elimination as the eight pros convene and reveal the second "Pros Poll." Should be a good one!

And we are LIVE! from Buffalo, N.Y. Michael Cole and Josh Mathews are our commentators and Matt Striker is our host. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

As has been the usual the past few weeks, Striker welcomes out the eight NXT rookies. Before the elimination, Striker acknowledges the rookies' win against the Raw superstars Monday when Daniel Bryan pinned Santino Marella.

Striker asks Tarver if he remembers what he said last week that he should be eliminated. He shows the clip and then says WWE management doesn't believe those who don't believe in themselves should be around, so Tarver is eliminated.

Then Striker goes up to Bryan and asks him if he remembers saying that he should be eliminated. After playing the clip, Striker informs him that he has been eliminated. I don't really get this. I thought only one person was going to be eliminated.

Well, Striker then says those two were eliminated by "WWE Management" and that the Pros are convening right now to determine our regularly scheduled elimination. Hmmph.

Match #1 - Wade Barrett (Manchester, England) vs. Heath Slater (Pineville, WV)

Slater starts going to town on Barrett but Barrett lifts him up for his finish but Slater slithers out and hits a neckbreaker. Slater goes to the top for a crossbody but Barrett catches him and this time hits a "power maneuver" for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Wade Barrett

Striker is backstage with Tarver. He says he things the ruling was fair, but the contest was not. Striker then wishes Tarver the best in his future endeavors.

Match #2 - Skip Sheffield (College Station, Texas) vs. Darren Young (Miami, Fla.)

Sheffield with a headlock. Young fires out and goes for his full nelson slam, but Sheffield just powers out and hits his finish for the pin.

Striker is backstage with Daniel Bryan. He says he believes the elimination process was fair. But it seems like Bryan is under the impression the pros eliminated him. Someone smarten this man up. Striker asks him if he should've remained on the indy scene. Bryan goes into how if you look up Daniel Bryan on YouTube, you'll only see WWE stuff. He says Daniel Bryan might be dead. But Bryan Danielson is not.

Match #3 - David Otunga (Hollywood, Calif.) vs. Justin Gabriel (Cape Town, South Africa)

Gabriel tries to get to the high flying early but Otunga knocks him off the rope on a springboard try. Otunga locks in an abdominal stretch and elbows Gabriel for good measure. They fight a bit on the outside and the apron. Otunga hangs Gabriel up on the top rope and kicks him. In the centre, he hits a slam and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: David Otunga

OK, now's the time to find out who the poor soul is that gets eliminated. Of course, Justin Gabriel has immunity. We're down to five rookies now. Striker asks each rookie who they think should be eliminated. Darren Young thinks Wade Barrett should be gone. Heath Slater, Skip Sheffield and Gabriel think Otunga should be gone. Otunga says "The One Man Hick Band" Heath Slater should be gone. Barrett also believes Otunga should be a goner. Well, well, well.

Now it's time for the Pros Poll.

1. Wade Barrett
2. David Otunga
3. Justin Gabriel
4. Heath Slater

That leaves Sheffield and Young as the final two. The first rookie that is eliminated by the pros is Skip Sheffield.

Striker immediately asks Sheffield his thoughts. He says from day one he has been misguided and the fans have not seen the real Skip Sheffield, although he puts over William Regal, saying he should've listened to him. He says he will be back.

Striker says next week there will be another poll and there will be another elimination.
