Smackdown: Punk escapes a cutting
By PETER HOEFGEN - Live Audio Wrestling

Starting the show, we get a recap of last week, the triple threat match featuring Edge, Chris Jericho, and Jack Swagger. Swagger wins via pin, while Jericho does the spot crashing the steel ring steps into Edge's ankle at the end of the show.

We come into the Mohegan Sun Arena to Jack Swagger coming out to the ring.

Grisham and Striker run down the Orton vs. Swagger match at the Extreme Rules ppv as well as Swagger's win against the Undertaker at Raw and the triple threat match on last week's Smackdown.

Swagger cuts a promo about how he's on a role with his defeat of Jericho and Edge last Friday. He runs Chris Jericho's line of "he's the Best in the world at what he does" and Swagger calls himself the best now. He then describes his win against the Undertaker and takes a jab at Shawn Michaels. Swagger uses his line of being the "greatest natural competitor in the WWE" before playing a video package of his win against the Undertaker during last Monday's Raw.

Swagger says that he looks like a champion, and that he hopes to become a permanent member of the Smackdown roster next week. He gives a promo for his match at Extreme Rules, and promises to dominate Randy Orton. Swagger cuts a promo about the Viper's Venom, and calls himself the antidote. He promises to cut off the Viper's head.

Jack Swagger vs. John Morrison

Jack Swagger starts with his amateur wrestling style taking Morrison to the floor and grapples with him. Swagger misses with a leg drop allowing Morrison to get the upper hand with a running knee and a quick pin for a 2 count. Morrison continues with a quick kick to the mid section then tries for an Irish Whip. Swagger reverses and slams Morrison to the mat.

Back from the break, Swagger has Morrison in a body scissors submission hold. Morrison battles out of it, before Swagger comes back and sets Morrison up for a superplex. Morrison counters and pushes Swagger to the ring then goes for a flying dropkick that connects and a quick cover for a 2 count. Morrison continues and whips Swagger into the corner before Swagger counters with a kick and gets a near fall 2 count. Swagger goes for elbows to the stomach and then a leg drop and puts Morrison in a choke submission hold. They show Swagger's mouth busted open with colour.

Swagger continues with his submission hold as Morrison battles out of it pushing Swagger to the ropes. Morrison runs at Swagger and Swagger counters trying to hit a sidewalk slam. Morrison counters with a takedown leaving both men lying on the mat. The Referee counts to a 6 as both men rise. Morrison's first throwing fists towards Swagger and then hits a running shoulder block. Swagger comes back, takes a run at Morrison and Morrison counters by trying to throw Swagger outside of the ring. Swagger lands feet first on the ring apron, jumps over the ropes and is caught by a sick kick from Morrison who goes for a pin and gets a 2 count. Swagger sets Morrison up for a Irish Whip but Morrison counters with a kick to face. Swagger counters, scoops Morrison up and slams him against the ropes. Swagger goes for his Gut Wrench Power Bomb and the pin. Morrison escapes by placing his hand on the ropes. Swagger scoops Morrison up to run him to the Post but Morrison counters with a kick and hits Starship Pain. Morrison goes for the pin and wins.

Punk is backstage showing the hair that Rey cut off on Monday Night Raw to Theodore Long. Punk calls Rey a criminal in a mask and that the reason Rey cut Punk's hair was because Rey knows he will not be shaving Punk's head at Extreme Rules. Theodore Long says that he hopes that Punk does not get his head shaved. Long thinks Punk "is going to be real ugly with a bald head". He then makes the match between Punk and Gallows vs. Rey Mysterio and Kane.

R-Truth and Matt Hardy make their way out to the ring.

Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler vs. Matt Hardy and R-Truth

Dolph Ziggler starts with R-Truth. R-Truth gets a quick takedown before going back up and getting Dolph in a headlock and tagging in Matt Hardy. Dolph whips R-Truth into the ring post area and takes a run at R-Truth who ducks out the way using his athleticism. Dolph is caught by Matt Hardy who slams him head first into the ring post. We come back from commercial as Dolph Ziggler has Matt in a headlock, Matt battles back with fists, a clothesline and then does a power bomb from the corner and gets a quick cover and a 2 count. Matt goes back on offence and Dolph counters by throwing Matt into the ring post and onto the outside. Drew on the outside sets up a sick kick to Matt's head on the steel ring steps. Dolph follows that up by smashing his elbow into the back of Matt Hardy's head. The ref steps to the outside and asks Matt if he can continue. Matt says that he can. There is a Smackdown replay from last week showing Jericho trapping Edge's ankle in the steel ring steeps and then running at them.

Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett make their way to the ring and into the cage.

Jericho says that he is going to end Edge's career and that there will be no more heroic comebacks, no more championship title reigns, no more spears. Jericho calls the cage match at Extreme Rules the biggest moment of his career and goes on to say what he's going to do to Edge. He says that next Monday night Edge will be watching the WWE Draft from a bed in a hospital and that the greatest part of Edge being gone from the WWE is that Edgeheads will no longer be chanting "spear, spear, spear" they'll be chanting "goodbye Edge, goodbye Edge, goodbye Edge"

Edge's music hits and he makes his way out to the stage. Edge says that Jericho did injure his ankle last week and people have been asking Edge how he is going to compete at Extreme Rules, but more people have been asking how Jericho lost to Heath Slater on NXT. Edge says he is banged up but nothing is going to stop him from getting inside the steel cage at Extreme Rules. Nor will it stop him from getting inside the cage right now as he enters it.

Edge says that he knows how to deal with injuries. He knows what it takes to come back from an injury and brings up his broken neck and torn Achilles tendon. Edge says that Jericho will find out if Jericho has what it takes to come back from an injury and that nothing is going to stop Edge from spearing Jericho through the cage at Extreme Rules. Edge says that there is nothing that is going to stop him from spearing Jericho right now.

Edge attacks them and Jericho and Barrett double team Edge. Jericho tries to put Edge into the Walls of Jericho. Edge breaks free and sets up a spear on Jericho, who ducks out of the cage to the outside leaving Barrett inside the ring. Jericho locks the door as Barrett tries to get out leaving him with Edge. Edge bouncing Barrett's head off steel and throws him at the cage. He then sets up a spear on Barrett as he glares at Jericho and hits it. Edge continues to stare down Jericho.

Punk tags in Gallows. He uses his boot to choke Rey near the ropes. Gallows traps Rey in his corner and starts throwing fists into Rey's midsection. As the Ref calls him off Punk begins to choke Rey from the outside. Gallows hits Rey with an Uppercut and a quick pin for a 2 count. Gallows goes to work on Rey's neck with a submission choke until Rey breaks free and makes a hot tag to Kane while Gallows tags in Punk.

Kane goes to work on Punk hitting a sidewalk slam then going up top for a flying clothesline. Kane goes for pin and gets a two count before Gallows breaks it up. Rey enters the ring and Gallows takes a run at him and falls to the Floor as Rey pulls down the ropes. Rey battles Punk and goes for another pin before Punk counters Rey with a pin of his own and gets the win.
