Smackdown: Punk escapes a cutting

Starting the show, we get a
recap of last week, the triple threat match featuring Edge, Chris
Jericho,
and Jack Swagger. Swagger wins via pin, while Jericho does the spot
crashing the steel ring steps into Edge's ankle at the end of the
show.
We come into the Mohegan Sun
Arena to Jack Swagger coming out to the ring.
Grisham and Striker run down
the Orton vs. Swagger match at the Extreme Rules ppv as well as
Swagger's
win against the Undertaker at Raw and the triple threat match on last
week's Smackdown.
Swagger cuts a promo about
how he's on a role with his defeat of Jericho and Edge last Friday.
He runs Chris Jericho's line of "he's the Best in the world at
what he does" and Swagger calls himself the best now. He then describes
his win against the Undertaker and takes a jab at Shawn Michaels.
Swagger
uses his line of being the "greatest natural competitor in the WWE"
before playing a video package of his win against the Undertaker during
last Monday's Raw.
Swagger says that he looks
like a champion, and that he hopes to become a permanent member of the
Smackdown roster next week. He gives a promo for his match at Extreme
Rules, and promises to dominate Randy Orton. Swagger cuts a promo about
the Viper's Venom, and calls himself the antidote. He promises to
cut off the Viper's head.
Jack Swagger vs. John
Morrison
Jack Swagger starts with his
amateur wrestling style taking Morrison to the floor and grapples with
him. Swagger misses with a leg drop allowing Morrison to get the upper
hand with a running knee and a quick pin for a 2 count. Morrison
continues
with a quick kick to the mid section then tries for an Irish Whip.
Swagger
reverses and slams Morrison to the mat.

Back from the break, Swagger
has Morrison in a body scissors submission hold. Morrison battles out
of it, before Swagger comes back and sets Morrison up for a superplex.
Morrison counters and pushes Swagger to the ring then goes for a flying
dropkick that connects and a quick cover for a 2 count. Morrison
continues
and whips Swagger into the corner before Swagger counters with a kick
and gets a near fall 2 count. Swagger goes for elbows to the stomach
and then a leg drop and puts Morrison in a choke submission hold. They
show Swagger's mouth busted open with colour.
Swagger continues with his
submission hold as Morrison battles out of it pushing Swagger to the
ropes. Morrison runs at Swagger and Swagger counters trying to hit a
sidewalk slam. Morrison counters with a takedown leaving both men lying
on the mat. The Referee counts to a 6 as both men rise. Morrison's
first throwing fists towards Swagger and then hits a running shoulder
block. Swagger comes back, takes a run at Morrison and Morrison counters
by trying to throw Swagger outside of the ring. Swagger lands feet first
on the ring apron, jumps over the ropes and is caught by a sick kick
from Morrison who goes for a pin and gets a 2 count. Swagger sets
Morrison
up for a Irish Whip but Morrison counters with a kick to face. Swagger
counters, scoops Morrison up and slams him against the ropes. Swagger
goes for his Gut Wrench Power Bomb and the pin. Morrison escapes by
placing his hand on the ropes. Swagger scoops Morrison up to run him
to the Post but Morrison counters with a kick and hits Starship Pain.
Morrison goes for the pin and wins.

Punk is backstage showing the
hair that Rey cut off on Monday Night Raw to Theodore Long. Punk calls
Rey a criminal in a mask and that the reason Rey cut Punk's hair was
because Rey knows he will not be shaving Punk's head at Extreme Rules.
Theodore Long says that he hopes that Punk does not get his head shaved.
Long thinks Punk "is going to be real ugly with a bald head". He
then makes the match between Punk and Gallows vs. Rey Mysterio and Kane.
R-Truth and Matt Hardy make
their way out to the ring.
Drew McIntyre and Dolph
Ziggler vs. Matt Hardy and R-Truth
Dolph Ziggler starts with
R-Truth.
R-Truth gets a quick takedown before going back up and getting Dolph
in a headlock and tagging in Matt Hardy. Dolph whips R-Truth into the
ring post area and takes a run at R-Truth who ducks out the way using
his athleticism. Dolph is caught by Matt Hardy who slams him head first
into the ring post. Matt then throws a punch at Drew McIntyre who steps
to the ringside area.

We come back from commercial
as Dolph Ziggler has Matt in a headlock, Matt battles back with fists,
a clothesline and then does a power bomb from the corner and gets a
quick cover and a 2 count. Matt goes back on offence and Dolph counters
by throwing Matt into the ring post and onto the outside. Drew on the
outside sets up a sick kick to Matt's head on the steel ring steps.
Dolph follows that up by smashing his elbow into the back of Matt
Hardy's
head. The ref steps to the outside and asks Matt if he can continue.
Matt says that he can. Dolph follows that up with a fist to Matt's
face and rolls Matt into the ring to get the cover and a 2 count. Dolph
continues his assault on Matt's head until the ref stops the match
because he deemed Matt could not continue.
After the match Drew runs at
Matt, and throws him into the steel ring posts before he tells Matt
that this is the "Last time he ever wants to see him again"
Jericho and Barrett are shown
walking to the ring.
The Cage is lowered to the
ring.

There is a Smackdown replay
from last week showing Jericho trapping Edge's ankle in the steel
ring steeps and then running at them.
Chris Jericho and Wade Barrett
make their way to the ring and into the cage.
Jericho says that he is going
to end Edge's career and that there will be no more heroic comebacks,
no more championship title reigns, no more spears. Jericho calls the
cage match at Extreme Rules the biggest moment of his career and goes
on to say what he's going to do to Edge. He says that next Monday
night Edge will be watching the WWE Draft from a bed in a hospital and
that the greatest part of Edge being gone from the WWE is that Edgeheads
will no longer be chanting "spear, spear, spear" they'll be chanting
"goodbye Edge, goodbye Edge, goodbye Edge"
Edge's music hits and he
makes his way out to the stage. Edge says that Jericho did injure his
ankle last week and people have been asking Edge how he is going to
compete at Extreme Rules, but more people have been asking how Jericho
lost to Heath Slater on NXT. Edge says he is banged up but nothing is
going to stop him from getting inside the steel cage at Extreme Rules.
Nor will it stop him from getting inside the cage right now as he enters
it.
Edge says that he knows how
to deal with injuries. He knows what it takes to come back from an
injury
and brings up his broken neck and torn Achilles tendon. Edge says that
Jericho will find out if Jericho has what it takes to come back from
an injury and that nothing is going to stop Edge from spearing Jericho
through the cage at Extreme Rules. Edge says that there is nothing that
is going to stop him from spearing Jericho right now.
Edge attacks them and Jericho
and Barrett double team Edge. Jericho tries to put Edge into the Walls
of Jericho. Edge breaks free and sets up a spear on Jericho, who ducks
out of the cage to the outside leaving Barrett inside the ring. Jericho
locks the door as Barrett tries to get out leaving him with Edge. Edge
bouncing Barrett's head off steel and throws him at the cage. He then
sets up a spear on Barrett as he glares at Jericho and hits it. Edge
continues to stare down Jericho.

There is a replay from last
Friday's Smackdown where Shad attacked JTG after his match.
Shad has joined the crew for
commentary as Grisham and Striker announce the Strap Match between Shad
and JTG for Extreme Rules.
JTG vs. Mike Knox
JTG starts off quickly with
fists to the face before Mike Knox comes back showing his strength with
a cross body block and a cover for a 2 count. JTG goes back on the
offence
with a flying shoulder block, and then a dropkick before Knox is knocked
out of the ring. He then goes flying over the top rope onto Knox and
stares at Shad. Knox re-enters the ring and comes back quickly with
a kick to the mid section as JTG enters before whipping JTG to the
ropes.
JTG comes back to quickly the pin and 3 count.
After the match Shad enters
the ring after the match and assaults JTG with a kick to the face then
starts hitting him with a leather strap, then goes back with his
catchphrase
"It's My Time".

Grisham and Striker run down
the Card for Sunday's Extreme Rules ppv. There is a promo for the
Batista
vs Cena Last Man Standing Match for the WWE title.
A clip from the opening to
last Monday Night Raw shows Punk and his Straight Edge Society trying
to convert HHH, their assault on Hunter, and Rey Mysterio coming out
to make the save and then shaving off a piece of Punk's hair.

Team LayCool vs. Beth
Phoenix
and Mickie James
Beth and Layla start as Layla
hooks Beth into a headlock. Beth powers out throwing Layla to the side
while Layla comes back with kicks to Beth's side. Michelle tags herself
in as Beth Catches Layla in a giant swing. Beth goes for a Slam on Layla
but Michelle stops her with a kick to her leg. Michelle works on Beth
before going for a pin and a 2 count. She continues to work on Beth
with kicks before tagging in Layla. Layla wraps Beth's leg around
the bottom and begins to stretch it.
Michelle double-teams Beth
from her corner planting her foot on Beth's stomach. Layla goes for
a figure 4 but Beth counters and pushes Layla away with her foot. Beth
throws Layla into her corner and tags in Mickie. Mickie begins to show
her quickness by running around the ring and hitting Layla with
clotheslines,
then a regal cutter and goes up to the top rope to fly against Layla
for the pin and a 2 count. Michelle enters the ring to stop the count
but Beth enters and throws her to the outside. Layla hits a sick
neckbreaker
to take the pin and the win.
After the match, Beth enters
the ring and stares down Layla as Michelle attacks Beth from behind.
Layla grabs an ironing board from underneath the ring and sets it up
against a ring post. Michelle throws Beth through the ironing machine
and then delivers a sick kick to Beth knocking her out. Vickie gives
lipstick to Layla and Michelle as they start paining it over her face
with Michelle yelling that Beth "looks better now".
Rey Mysterio and Kane are shown
backstage before their match.

Punk comes out to do a promo
about Rey Mysterio cutting his hair on Monday Night Raw. He tells Rey
that he will not be shaved bald at Extreme Rules. He then cuts a promo
on somebody joining the straight edge society tonight and getting their
hair shaved.
CM Punk and Luke Gallows
vs. Rey Mysterio and Kane
Rey and Gallows start. Rey
uses his quickness with kicks to Gallows. Gallows comes back with a
scoop slam and then goes to work while Rey is on the ground. Gallows
tags in Punk who starts with kicks to Rey while he is still on the
ground
and then knees to Rey's stomach as he stands. Punk tries to hit Rey
with a slam but Rey counters and tags in Kane forcing punk back to his
corner.

We're back with Gallows and
Kane in the ring. Kane goes for a cover then a headlock on Gallows.
Gallows tags in Punk who tries to fly against Kane but is forced back
with a punch. Kane tags in Rey and hits a baseball slide against Punk.
Rey tries to whip Punk to the corner, but Punk counters. Rey takes a
run at punk but Punk counters and throws Rey head first into the ring
post. Punk traps Rey in the corner and hits a knee to his midsection
then runs a bulldog with Rey landing on the mat and covers Rey for a
2 count. Punk then uses a surfboard submission on Rey before Rey breaks
free and Punk shoulder blocks him and hits a quick cover for a 2 count.
Punk tags in Gallows. He uses
his boot to choke Rey near the ropes. Gallows traps Rey in his corner
and starts throwing fists into Rey's midsection. As the Ref calls
him off Punk begins to choke Rey from the outside. Gallows hits Rey
with an Uppercut and a quick pin for a 2 count. Gallows goes to work
on Rey's neck with a submission choke until Rey breaks free and makes
a hot tag to Kane while Gallows tags in Punk.
Kane goes to work on Punk
hitting
a sidewalk slam then going up top for a flying clothesline. Kane goes
for pin and gets a two count before Gallows breaks it up. Rey enters the
ring and Gallows takes a run at him and falls to the Floor as Rey pulls
down the ropes. Punk takes a run at Kane but Kane drops him with a boot
then sets up Mysterio for a sick Splash from the top rope and a two count
cover. Rey battles Punk and goes for another pin before Punk counters
Rey with a pin of his own and gets the win.
After the match Punk continues
his offence on Rey, until Rey fights back and tries for a 619 but knocks
Punk into the Barber's Chair. Serena saves Punk from Rey cutting his
hair. Rey and Punk stare each other down to end the show with Rey say
that he'll shave all of Punk's hair off.
