WWE Superstars: 3 solid matches pace show
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE Superstars: Even though tonight's show is headlined by an interpromotional battle between John Morrison and Carlito, the middle match between former ECW stars Yoshi Tatsu and Zack Ryder steals the show. Should be a good one!

This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG, V)

I love how 90 percent of the people in the opening video package never appear on the show.

Match #1 - Shad Gaspard (Brooklyn, N.Y.) vs. Goldust (Hollywood, Calif.)

Wow, I guess Undertaker and The Great Khali aren't the only two competitors WWE dragged out for these tapings. Of note here: Goldust actually hit the camera with his wig for once. Mad props there.

Goldust mounts Shad in the corner and goes to work with punches but is shoved off. Gaspard explodes with a big boot that puts Goldust down. He stands over and taunts him and Goldust pulls him down into a small package for two. This does not make Mr. Gaspard happy. He grabs Goldust and posts him. He follows up with the STO and that's that.

Winner via pinfall: Shad Gaspard

Match #2 - Yoshi Tatsu (Tokyo, Japan) vs. Zack Ryder (Long Island, N.Y.)

As the world's most dedicated former ECW reporter, I appreciate this match greatly.

Fun little match to start with Tatsu in control. Tatsu looks to lock in an armbar but Ryder gets the bottom rope with his leg. He takes a powder and Tatsu follows up, sliding outside but Ryder sidesteps him and throws him back-first into the barricade.

We're back and Ryder has a Level 2 Randy Orton Chinlock applied. Rosa Mendes gets involved by slapping Tatsu and Ryder goes back to the chinlock. Tatsu tries to fire up but Ryder hits the RoughRyder to put an end to that. Ryder charges in the corner but eats a boot. Tatsu gets himself out of the corner and lands some kicks.

Back-body drop for Tatsu. He hits a Superman punch in the corner. He goes to the middle turnbuckle but Ryder hits him in the gut on the way down. He follows up with a Rude Awakening for two. Ryder stands over Tatsu so Tatsu kicks him. Tatsu ends up on the apron and comes around and hits the unsuspecting Ryder with the high kick. He follows up with a missile spinning heel kick for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Yoshi Tatsu

Match #3 - Carlito (The Caribbean) vs. John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.)

They slug it out in the middle of the ring and Carlito hits a big ol' Double A Spinebuster for two. Morrison slides to the apron and slides in under Carlito but Carlito mule kicks him. Carlito with a springboard moonsault but he's caught. He goes to transition to the Backstabber but Morrison drills him with a kick for two.

Morrison continues to go to work when Michael Tarver jumps up on the apron. With the referee distracted, Carilto rolls Morrison up and gets a visual pin but the referee doesn't see it. Carlito is, to put it mildly, upset. While he's chewing out Tarver, Morrison hits a springboard kick for the fall. Tarver spikes the apple in disgust.

Winner via pinfall: John Morrison
