Smackdown: Swagger cashes in
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on Friday Night Smackdown: Chris Jericho made it through WrestleMania 26 as the World Heavyweight Champion. Five days after the big event, Edge wants and gets more. Unfortunately for both, it doesn't work out as planned, as after Edge lays out Jericho, Jack Swagger cashes in his Money in the Bank contract.

And we are TAPED! from Las Vegas, NV. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG, V)

We are immediately joined by the World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho. He says he is still the World Heavyweight Champion and is the best in the world at what he does. He says he wrestled a perfect match at WrestleMania and is the best champion of this generation or any other.

He says Edge committed a cowardly act after their match by spearing him through the dasher boards. He talks some more until Edge comes out and he is not looking happy.

Edge says he thinks the crowd would love to see Jericho get speared again tonight because he wants a rematch for the title and he wants it right now. Jericho says he doesn't care what Edge wants. He had his chance at Mania and lost. The way Jericho sees it, Edge is at the back of the line because he is a loser and nothing he says or does will change that.

Edge attacks Jericho and hockey punches him, ripping off his suit jacket and shirt. Edge with a kick and the Edgecution DDT. Edge lines Jericho up and hits the spear on Jericho's taped ribs.

Edge puts his arms in the air in the center of the ring as Jericho writhes in pain. Edge walks up the ramp when Jack Swagger comes in and drills Edge with the briefcase. He goes in the ring then slides out and calls for a referee. He's cashing in Money in the Bank. The referee takes forever to come out but Jericho is still down. Finally the referee comes down.

Match #1 - World Heavyweight Championship - (c) Chris Jericho (Winnipeg, Manitoba) vs. Jack Swagger (Perry, Okla.)

Jericho gets up, the referee rings the bell and Swagger hits the gut-wrench power bomb. That's it.

Winner via pinfall and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Jack Swagger

Swagger walks off as both Jericho and Edge try to recover.

Match #2 - R-Truth (Charlotte, N.C.) & John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.) vs. Cryme Tyme (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

This one last about 45 seconds. Truth hits the ax kick and Morrison hits Starship Pain on Shad and that's all.

Winners via pinfall: John Morrison & R-Truth

JTG helps Shad up and they talk and it gets more vocal. Shad tells JTG to shut up and pie faces him. JTG comes back and Shad gives him a big boot then several knees to the body and hits a big punch that lays JTG out. He wants more and lays JTG out again. Grisham speculates if this is the end of Cryme Tyme. Man does not take a hint.

Swagger is walking backstage. He runs into Shelton Benjamin and tells him that maybe he should be called the gold standard now. Swagger keeps walking and the camera sticks with Benjamin, who is not pleased.

Josh Mathews is backstage with Shad. He says no more Cryme Tyme. It's "my time."

Michelle McCool, Layla and Vickie Guerrero are backstage when Swagger comes in looking for Smackdown GM Theodore Long. Vickie says she's the official consultant and can help. Swagger wants time for a State of the Championship address tonight. Vickie says he can have as much time as he wants. Swagger replies by kissing her on the cheek. The ladies freak out and the crowd boos.

Match #3 - The Great Khali (India) vs. Dolph Ziggler (Hollywood, Fla.)

Khali chops Ziggler in the corner and lands a big boot, sending Ziggler out of the ring. He pulls Ziggler onto the apron but Ziggler necks him and jumps to the second rope and applies the sleeper. But Khali gets out but is weakened. Ziggler hops back on and flattens Khali out on the ground and puts the big man to sleep.

Winner via technical submission: Dolph Ziggler

Khali grabs the mic and speaks. Ranjin Singh says Khali said it's time to go back to India and recharge. When he returns, he'll become World Champion.

The Straight Edge Society is out. Punk cuts a promo on Las Vegas and then says Rey Mysterio still needs CM Punk. Winners via pinfall: Beth Phoenix & Tiffany

Jericho confronts Long backstage and demands he reverses the decision and give him back the World Title. Long says no. He asks Jericho if he wants his rematch tonight. Jericho says he's in no condition to compete. Long says if he doesn't want the rematch tonight, he's got nothing else to say to him.

Josh Mathews welcomes in the Hart Dynasty. They say now that the Bret Hart/Vince McMahon match is over, it's their turn to continue on the tradition of the Hart family. That's when Swagger just steps into the frame holding the title.

Kane is out to the ring. He says he needs someone to take his frustration out on and the more the better. So tonight he's going to take on the entire NXT roster.

Heath Slater tags himself in and immediately eats a choke slam. Michael Tarver comes in and gets thrown over the top rope. Then the rest of the rookies get together outside and decide to attack together from all sides. Bryan jumps on Kane's back but the referee counts to five and it's over.

Winner via disqualification: Kane

They continue the beatdown, each hitting a move. Then they hold Kane down for Justin Gabriel's 450 Splash. They celebrate, but Kane starts to stir, so they bail. He gives chase, so they bail a little faster.

Tony Chimel welcomes the new World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger, to the ring.

He gives his State of the Championship address, including telling everybody that they found their replacement for Shawn Michaels as the greatest living wrestler on the planet. Then Jericho comes to the ring and insists Swagger give him the belt back. He says Swagger committed the biggest robbery in WWE history and that Swagger is lucky he's injured. Then Edge comes down.

Edge says Swagger should face him because he wouldn't be champion if not for him. Then Theodore Long comes out. Long says he has an easy solution to the problem next week, Jericho will face Edge with the winner get a title match against Swagger.

Edge turns to Swagger and but turns around to eat a Codebreaker from Jericho. Swagger then hops in the ring and gives the gut-wrench to Jericho and then to Edge.
