RAW: It's official, Bret Hart returns next week
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Itís the last RAW of the decade, and it may very well be the last RAW that hasnít had any other wrestling competition. Hopefully TNA can push WWE into the powerhouse show it was heading into 2000 as we head into 2010.

The show starts off with Chris Jericho trying get fans outside the arena in Hartford, Connecticut, to sign a petition to get him reinstated on RAW. The fans donít seem eager to support his cause.

Inside the arena, John Cena starts things off by bringing a table into the ring, and addressing the crowd. Cena makes his speech about how Sheamus became the WWE champion from atop the turnbuckle. Cena wants his rematch right now, and he wants it to be a tables match. The WWE champ makes his way to the ring. Sheamus canít believe what he is hearing, since he has nothing left to prove. He is the WWE champion, and RAW belongs to him. Cena corrects him; RAW belongs to the WWE Universe. Sheamus says the match is on his terms, and there will not be tables. That match wouldnít be a challenge, so heíll just have to lose straight up, one on one. Cena moves quickly to shut up Sheamus and puts him through a table with the Attitude Adjustment.

Guest host Timbaland is in the back with the Bella Twins and Gail Kim. Josh Matthews wants to know if Timbaland will postpone the title match until a later date based on what just went down. Timbaland leaves it up to the crowd, and the fans want the match.

Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase join Randy Orton in the locker room. Orton is thinking of breaking up the band, spurred on by the loss to three random guys last week. Orton thinks he has wasted the last year and a half. DiBiase makes a case, but Orton has his own test. Both Cody and Ted will wrestle in singles matches, if they loses Orton will kick them out of Legacy and the beat them up.

Jericho is still stumping for signatures, to no avail.

Match #1 Ė Evan Bourne vs. Ted DiBiase

Orton sets at ring side for this match. DiBiase hammers away at Bourne, but misses an elbow drop and Bourne drop kicks Dibiase in the head. Ted connects with a clothesline coming off the ropes, and then follows with a delayed vertical suplex. Bourne recovers with a thrust kick to the chest, and the pulls DiBiase off the top turnbuckle with a head scissors. Bourne scrambles to the top rope, and leaps over DiBiase. Bourne canít quite leapfrog over Ted, and smashes into the lower turnbuckle. Ted takes advantage and hits Bourne with Dream Street. Dibiase covers and gets the three count.

Winner via pinfall: Ted DiBiase

Match #2 Ė Mark Henry vs. Cody Rhodes

Orton is still at ringside to start the match. Henry tosses Rhodes across the ring, and then knocks him to the mat. Rhodes rolls away from a splash, and then connects on a low cross body. Rhodes is pushed out of the ring. Rhodes tries a drop kick, and Henry knocks Rhodes into the ropes. Henry charges, and crushes Rhodes on the ropes. Henry slides out of the ring, but injures a knee in the process. Rhodes hits a chop block on the knee and then connects with a DDT. Rhodes covers and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Cody Rhodes

Orton looks pleased with his crew.

Jillian Hall is trying to talk Gail Kim into letting her in to see Timbaland. We pan over to Hunter taping Hornswoggle to a skateboard for fun. Shawn is a little off tonight, because he is worried about the Vince McMahon/Bret Hart thing. Hunter tells HBK to stay out of it, and then takes Jillian out by rolling Hornswoggle into her.

Match #3 Ė Kelly Kelly vs. Maryse

Maryse plants Kelly with a DDT and covers for the win.

Winner via submission: Maryse

Maryse gets on the microphone and calls out Melina. And then says something only our friends in Quebec could understand.

Jericho continues the rally, and nobody cares. Show walks out to tell Jericho itís over. Jericho wants to know if thereís someone else; Show says he is moving on. Show hands him an envelope, Jericho looks at the contents and is pleased. (Iím assuming thereís a ticket in there.)

Vince walks to the ring to address the rumors concerning Bret Hart. (I donít know what there is to address. Hart signed a WWE contract, and will host RAW next week, as RAW goes up against TNA.) Yes, Bret Hart will host next week, and Vince shows an unbiased video of Bretís WWE career. Oh course we see the Montreal screw job, and Vince saying, ďBret Hart screwed Bret Hart.Ē Vince says he allowed Bret to come back and be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and Bret did not say a word to Vince or even shake his hand. Oh wait, Vince stops short of announcing Bret Hart as the guest host. He says he canít do it. Vince says Hart will never be a guest hosts on RAW, and leaves the ring. Before Vince can leave, Shawn Michaels heads to the ring.

HBK says there are rivalries that canít be denied. Vince thinks he is talking about Bret, but HBK is talking about the Deadman. He wants Undertaker at Wrestlemania. He is out here to appeal to Vinceís wallet. He wants a rematch. Vince says he is reluctant to make the match, and wonít do it. If HBK wants it, heíll have to do it himself. HBK has one more thing for Vince; he canít believe Vince is afraid of Bret Hart. HBK wants Hart back in the WWE, and back on RAW. Only good things will happen if Hart is brought back. HBK then says he would be happy to see Bret Hart back on RAW one more time. Vince then makes it so, Bret ďThe HitmanĒ Hart will host RAW next week.

Josh Matthews asks John Cena about his upcoming title match. Before Cena can answer Sheamus ambushes Cena, getting in a few shots before the officials can pull him away.

MVP is playing Timbalandís game on the PSP. Kofi drops in to thanks him for an opportunity to get a title shot. MVP asks Kofi for first shot at the title if he wins. The Miz drops in, saying Kofi will never have the US Title. Timbaland tells Miz that if he loses, the title match will take place later tonight.

Match #4 Ė The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston

Miz stars off with a suplex, and then stomps Kofi into the corner. He follows with a clothesline into the corner, but Kofi catch Miz with Trouble in Paradise as Miz leapt off the top turnbuckle.

Winner via pinfall: Kofi Kingston

Match #5 Ė The Miz vs. Kofi Kingston Ė U.S. Title Match

We return from commercial in mid match as Kofi connects on a cross body block. Kofi gets a near fall with a back slide. Kingston hits a side Russian leg sweep, and follows with the Boom drop. Kofi connects with Trouble in Paradise, and covers. Randy Orton runs in, pulling Kofi off Miz, and hitting Kofi with a RKO outside the ring. Miz is disqualified, but it doesnít matter.

Winner via DQ: Kofi Kingston

Josh Matthews wants some answers. Orton says he will determine when his business with Kofi is done with, and itís not over yet.

Match #6 Ė DX vs. Big Show and Chavo Guerrero

Hunter does his pre-match shtick, when Chris Jericho comes walking down through the crowd. He produces the front row ticket that allows him to be there.

Jericho looks disappointed that Show has a new partner. Chavo hits a vertical suplex on Hunter counters the second with a delayed vertical suplex. HBK tags in, hitting an inverted atomic drop. Show pulls HBK down by the hair when the ref was distracted. Show tags in, slamming HBK to mat by his neck. Chavo tags back in, and goes for a moonsault, but HBK gets his knees up. Hunter and Show tag in, and HHH blocks a chokeslam. He then hits a spinebuster on Chavo, nut Show catches him with a spear. Chavo tags in, and climbs on Shows shoulder. HHH rolls away from the frog splash. HBK knocks Show from the ring. Hornswoggle runs in, trying in vain to hit Chavo with a Pedigree. Chavo back drops him, but doesnít see HHH get up. Hunter hits Chavo with the Pedigree and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: DX

After the match, Jericho jumps the railing. He is furious and jumps onto the apron. HBK dispatches him with some Sweet Chin Music. Hunter tells he has a rematch next week, but when he loses, he is gone for good.

Timbaland makes his way to the ring with the Bella Twins. Timbaland announces the match.

Match #7 Ė John Cena vs. Sheamus Ė WWE Title Match

Cena and Sheamus trade punches, and Sheamus blocks a bulldog. Cena is beat on the mat, and then Sheamus drives Cena into the corner. The champion hits a suplex, and gets a near fall. Cena gets on a roll with a side slam, followed by the five knuckle shuffle. Sheamus blocks the AA by grabbing the ropes, and then grabbing the ref and throwing him across the ring. The ref calls for the bell, disqualifying Sheamus. Cena wins the match, but not the belt.

Winner via DQ: John Cena

After the bell, Cena chases Sheamus up the ramp, and brings him back to the ring. Sheamus connects with the bicycle kick, and then puts him down with another boot. The show ends with Sheamus standing atop the ramp with the belt over his head.
