Smackdown: X-Mas tag team turmoil

It's Christmas Day and with sugar plums dancing in our heads and chestnuts
roasting, WWE presents a special holiday edition of Smackdown.
And what better way to start off than with a meaningless segment involving
Vickie Guerrero and Teddy Long? Okay, there are probably 100 ways that are better,
and I can easily think of 100 more when Hornswoggle gets into the picture. Feh.
Match 1 - John Morrison/R-Truth/Finlay/Matt Hardy vs. CM Punk/Dolph Ziggler/Luke
Gallows/Drew McIntyre
Okay I'm getting sick of these clusterfrick more-than-4-people tag matches.
Seriously - last time I checked the rosters weren't swelled up so much that
you needed to stuff so many competitors into one match. Morrison finishes the
bout for his band of merry men with the pin on Ziggler following Starship Pain.
Winners: Morrison/Truth/Finlay/Hardy
Next up we get an as-always stellar promo from Chris Jericho, who for some
reason begins to badmouth the Hart Dynasty. Just as we start to get an interaction
between the Canucks that looks to turn the Harts face, DX pops up on the big
screen to mock both Jericho and the Calgary trio. Eventually, the Harts get
sick of being ripped from both sides and went after Jericho, finishing up the
beatdown with the Hart Attack. I guess the face turn is in anticipation of Bret's
Monday January 4 return.
Next... no, I'm not going to talk about this degrading Mickie James angle or
any segment associated with it. This is horrible.
We then get comments from Rey before the big bout.
Match 2 - Undertaker vs. Rey Mysterio (World Title match)
Decent enough for what it was, but we knew it wasn't going to get a proper
finish, as Dave Batista runs in for the DQ.
Winner: No contest
Post-match, Rey gets the 619 on both 'Taker and Batista.
Backstage we go next for a Cryme Tyme beatdown on a bad Santa. Feh.
Match 3 - Cryme Tyme vs. Jobbers
Yup.
Winners: Cryme Tyme
Backstage we go for more with Vickie, Long and Hornswoggle. It's pie time.
Oh for.... please make this crap stop!
Match 4 - Mickie James/Maria vs. Beth Phoenix/Layla
Another tag team bout? Really? Faces win.
Winners: Mickie/Maria
Post-match, Beth gets her shots in. Turn her already so that she can squish
Michelle McCool. Please!
Match 5 - Hart Dynasty vs. D-Generation X (Unified Tag Team Title match)
Not a bad match at all. Of course, DX wins, but I don't think anyone expected
a different result on the first time out. I half-heartedly hoped for a Jericho
run-in, but this was more a test of Smith and Kidd running with the "big
dogs". The countdown begins to Bret's arrival.
Winners: DX
Horny joins HHH and HBK in the ring for post-match celebrations and I die a
little inside.
So this was pretty much all about tag team matches and Hornswoggle -- a total
180 from where we were one year ago. My apologies to anyone who likes Hornswoggle,
but the little guy's got to go. Please!
