ECW: Regal gets his wish
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Syfy: After being laid out by Ezekiel Jackson, Kozlov and William Regal last week, Christian and Yoshi Tatsu look for revenge in tag team action. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from the Providence, Rhode Island. Josh Mathews and Byron Saxton are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Christian says after last week, there's only one thing to say: He wants William Regal in this ring and he wants him now. Regal doesn't come out, so Christian says he'll come back and find him, but before he can leave the ring, Tiffany's music hits.

They chatter for a few minutes until Regal's music hits and the rather large trio make their way to the ramp. Regal asks how badly Christian wants him. Bad enough for an ECW Championship match? Christian says let's do it, but Tiffany says they are both scheduled for other matches. But after a speech by Christian, she asks Regal if he accepts the challenge and he thinks for a few seconds and then declines, saying he's the one in control and he will only accept a title match on his terms. He says if he takes his match, he wants it to be in front of a deserving crowd next week in front of his home crowd in England. Christian says he'll see Bill in England.

Tiffany says the match is on, but Jackson and Kozlov are banned from ringside. Oh, and Mr. Regal, your match is next. As Regal goes to get in the ring, Christian dropkicks him.

Match #1 - William Regal (Blackpool, England) vs. Goldust (Hollywood, Calif.)

It amazes me week after week how over Goldust is.

Fast start for the Bizarre One, mounting Regal with punches. Regal throws him outside but Goldust sweeps the foot and pulls Regal out with him and lands some heavy punches. In the ring, Goldust ducks a punch and hits an ATOMIC DROP. Can't even remember the last time I saw one of those. Goldust mounts Regal in the corner and starts punching, but he only gets to five before Regal pushes him off and takes control.

Regal works a chinlock and the crowd gets behind Goldust with a "Let's go Goldust" chant. It works and Goldust gets moving, hitting two clotheslines but he runs into a boot in the corner. Regal charges out and runs into a powerslam for two. Bulldog for Goldust. He goes for a splash in the corner, but Regal moves and Goldust hits his head on the post. Regal then hits the staggering Goldust with the knee trembler and that's it.

Winner via pinfall: William Regal

Zack Ryder is getting ready backstage when Rosa Mendes walks up and introduces herself to him. She says she's announcing his match tonight. Long story short, Zack is in love.

Match #2 - Zack Ryder (Long Island, N.Y.) vs. Shelton Benjamin (Orangeburg, S.C.)

Ryder looks off his game walking to the ring. After a few seconds of the match, Ryder goes to the outside and says something to Mendes. Benjamin follows up, but Ryder goes back in the ring and knocks him off the apron. Drive-by kick for Ryder followed up by a chinlock. Benjamin gets to a vertical base and elbows his way out. Backbody drop by Benjamin followed by a Stinger Splash. He follows that up with a belly-to-belly suplex. Ryder knocks Benjamin out of the ring and slingshots him back in the ring, but he gets his eyes caught on Mendes, who is applying makeup. He turns around and walks right into Paydirt.

Winner via pinfall: Shelton Benjamin

Paul and Katie Lea Burchill are in the ring. He says The Hurricane is nowhere to be found but sure enough, Hurricane's music hits and he comes to the squared circle.

They trade barbs and Burchill proposes one more match: If he wins, Hurricane unmasks and if Hurricane wins, the Burchills will leave ECW. Hurricane accepts with a poem. It's on.

Abraham Washington and Tony Atlas are walking backstage bemoaning the loss of his show's set thanks to Regal's rampage last week. Washington says they should go to Tiffany and get her to buy a whole new set because it was her fault it was destroyed. He says they should go all out with the new set with all the tricks. He goes to knock on Tiffany's door when a rather large man walks out at the same time. They're stopped dead in their tracks. Tiffany says that is ECW's newest superstar Vance Archer and he's intense.

Match #3 - Vance Archer (Dallas, Texas) vs. Logan Jones (Providence, R.I.)

Archer squash, 56 seconds.

Winner via pinfall: Vance Archer

Match #4 - Ezekiel Jackson (Harlem, N.Y.) & Kozlov (Moscow, Russia) vs. Christian (Toronto, Ontario) & Yoshi Tatsu (Tokyo, Japan)

It's speed against power with Tatsu and Jackson to start. Kozlov wants in and Jackson gives him the hardest tag in the history of wrestling. It doesn't go much better for Kozlov early until he hits a headbutt and throws Tatsu in the corner and tags Jackson. Kozlov tells Jackson to "break his back!" Jackson clubs him over the back and brings Kozlov back in. Quick tags now. They have successfully isolated Tatsu. Jackson misses a splash in the corner and that gives Tatsu the opportunity he needs to crawl to Christian. Both men tag.

Big boot by Christian and a flying European uppercut. Christian takes out Jackson and goes to the top but is caught by Kozlov and is thrown to the canvas. Kozlov goes for a backbreaker but Christian fights out and hits a reverse DDT but Jackson breaks the pin. Tatsu comes flying in and they dump Jackson to the outside. Tatsu follows with a slingshot dive. Christian charges at Kozlov but is caught and Kozlov hits a fallaway slam. Kozlov charges Christian but he moves and hits a tornado DDT. He claps his hands goes for the Killswitch and that's all she wrote.

Winners via pinfall: Christian & Yoshi Tatsu

Regal tries a sneak attack but Christian sees him coming. They brawl, but what Christian didn't see coming is the freight train that is Ezekiel Jackson from behind. Tatsu is nowhere to be found and it's a 3-on-1. Jackson and Kozlov drag Christian ribs-first into the post and pull him outside where Regal locks in the Regal Stretch. We finally see Tatsu and he is still down. Regal lets go and the three once again stand over Christian as the show goes off the air.
