It's cool to be John Morrison

John Morrison despises The Miz so much, he has a hard time stepping out of character to describe Sunday's showdown at WWE's Bragging Rights pay-per-view.

"I'm surprised that The Miz is the U.S. champ," says Morrison of his former tag-team partner. "He's super annoying and obnoxious. I know I can beat him."

When the pair were split up in April with Morrison returning to Smackdown! The Miz was cast as the heel -- the bad guy. Morrison, who had been playing his character with plenty of arrogance, has no regrets.

"There was no apprehension on my part," he says. "I'd already been successful at singles wrestling. We had a lot of fun as a team. We'd faced The Hardys, DX, Jimmy Yang and Shannon Moore -- the top teams. As far as sports entertainment goes, a lot of times change is good.

"The split would have been good if it wasn't for The Miz making some kind of weird statement (with an unprovoked attack on his former partner). It's OK. What goes around comes around. He's going to get hit with some Moonlight Drive and Starship Pain."

It's not that Morrison's character has changed a lot. He's still smug enough. But he's hearing cheers instead of jeers.

"It's cool to be myself," he says. "I'm not shy about (being full of confidence). I can call myself The Friday Night Delight and The Shaman of Sexy. It's all over the top. That's what sports entertainment is supposed to be."

Morrison (real name, John Randall Hennigan) grew up a wrestling fan, looking up to stars like The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, two wrestlers he'd now like to work a program with.

"Wrestling is something you have to be passionate about. It takes up so much of your life," says Morrison, who says a hectic schedule has kept him away from his Manhatten Beach, California home for all but four days this month.

"I look forward to going to work. If I didn't have that passion, it would drive me crazy."

AROUND THE RING

At TNA's Bound for Glory pay-per-view, Eric Young won (stole) the TNA Legends title ... Nigel McGuiness made his TNA debut as Desmond Wolfe, attacking Kurt Angle, who is now being cast as a fan favourite ... Team Smackdown! (Chris Jericho and Kane and their new teammates Matt Hardy, R-Truth, Finlay and The Heart Dynasty) will face Team RAW (Triple H, Michaels, Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston and Mark Henry at Bragging Rights.
