WWE Superstars: Young guns look to upset vets
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on WWE Superstars: With their place on Smackdown's Bragging Rights team secured, hot prospects Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar look to gain confidence heading into their first pay-per-view main event by facing the veteran team of Matt Hardy and R-Truth in tonight's main event. Should be a good one!

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcome us to this week's edition of Superstars. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - Kelly Kelly (Jacksonville, Fla.) vs. Gail Kim (Toronto, Ontario)

Of course, these two will be teammates Sunday at Bragging Rights.

Quick pace early. Shoulderblock by Kim for two. Roll-up by Kim gets two, but Kelly is just flipping all over the place and gets caught. Kim with a jackknife cover for another two count. Kim with a Level 5 Randy Orton Chinlock. Kelly works her way up and forces her way out. Kim puts Kelly on the top turnbuckle and goes for a hurricanrana but Kelly hangs on and Kim goes crashing to the mat. Kelly gets on Kim's shoulders and rolls through for two. Back up and they hit a double clothesline. They start duking it on center ring but Kelly hits a serious of clotheslines and a tilt-a-whirl head scissors for two.

Kim misses a springboard crossbody and Kelly capitalizes with the Kelly Killer (who names these moves?) for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Kelly Kelly

The two embrace and Kelly Kelly starts crying after actually being allowed to win in her hometown.

Match #2 - Ezekiel Jackson (Harlem, N.Y.) & Kozlov (Moscow, Russia) vs. Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.) & Goldust (Hollywood, Calif.)

Goldust and Dreamer work on Jackson's left arm, but he is able to tag Kozlov in. Goldust hits a drop-toe hold on Kozlov and Dreamer follows up with an elbow. But that doesn't last long. Kozlov and Jackson double-team Dreamer in the corner, often illegally. Kozlov with a belly-to-belly throw. Quick tags now and Jackson absolutely flattens Dreamer in the corner with a huge clothesline.

Both men get the tag and Goldust comes in on fire, hitting the drop-down uppercut and a bulldog for a cover that Jackson breaks up. Kozlov goes for a chokeslam, but with the referee distracted, Dreamer clubs Kozlov in the back and Goldust hits essentially an inverted bulldog and that's enough to keep Kozlov down.

Winners via pinfall: Goldust and Tommy Dreamer

The celebration last a whole half-second before Jackson came in and cleaned house. Kozlov hits an Iron Curtain on each for good measure.

Match #3 - Matt Hardy (Cameron, N.C.) & R-Truth (Charlotte, N.C.) vs. Eric Escobar (San Juan, Puerto Rico) & Drew McIntyre (Ayr, Scotland)

Fast start for Hardy and Truth, as they hit stereo dropkicks that send Escobar and McIntyre crashing to the mat outside.

McIntyre working over Truth with a hammerlock. Escobar in and Truth turns the tide until Escobar counters a sunset flip and continues to work the left arm. McIntyre back in and he is really taking it to Truth. Truth gets a bit of hope but McIntyre puts him down with an elbow. Both men get the tag and Hardy is ready to go.

Hardy with a clothesline and bulldog for two. McIntyre eats a big boot and Hardy hits a moonsault but Escobar breaks up the count. Truth sends Escobar to the outside while Vickie Guerrero distracts the referee. Truth tries to springboard onto Escobar, but Escobar just side steps it and Truth goes crashing to the floor.

In the ring, a roll-up by Hardy gets two. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate, but McIntyre pushes him off to the rope, where Escobar is waiting to wring Hardy's throat off the rope. Hardy stumbles right into the double-arm DDT and that's all she wrote.

Winners via pinfall: Drew McIntyre & Eric Escobar
