Impact: Bound for Glory takes shape
By CHRIS & BRYAN SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestlin
This past Sunday at TNA's No Surrender event, the centerpiece of TNA Wrestling, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, captured the TNA Heavyweight Championship for the first time since its name change a few years back. Tonight on Impact, Styles will make his inaugural address as champ, while Mick Foley and Abyss join forces to take on Booker T and Scott Steiner in the main event for the TNA Tag Team Championships.
The show began with a recap of No Surrender.
The World Elite were shown arriving at the Impact Zone, followed by Hernandez who attacked them and took off before they were able to retaliate.
The Impact opener aired, as Mike Tenay pitched it to the ring and the Main Event Mafia.
The Main Event Mafia were in the ring, with Kurt Angle holding the mic. Angle said that he didn't lose at No Surrender, he was screwed by Matt Morgan. Angle went on to say that he would exact his revenge on Morgan at Bound for Glory. The World Elite interrupted them, with Eric Young questioning their supposed dominance. Young said that it was he who saved Angle from Hernandez at No Surrender, so he was asking for Angle's help in a tag match later on. Booker T got on Young and said he didn't care about World Elite. Young told Booker he wasn't concerned with his opinion, leading to Samoa Joe and Scott Steiner holding Booker back. Eventually Angle agreed to tag with Young and the two will see action later on.
Mike Tenay and Taz ran down the rest of the card for Impact.
Match One - Street Fight - "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero vs. Suicide
D'Angelo Dinero attacked Suicide during his entrance. Dinero had his ribs taped up as a result of their pay-per-view match. Suicide went after the ribs with a kendo stick amongst other weapons, before ultimately hitting the Suicide Solution on a trash can to get the pin.

Match Two - "The War Machine" Rhino vs. Brother Devon
Brother Devon jumped Rhino in this match and the two just brawled, leading to a double count out.

Both competitors were busted open as security and Brother Ray ran out to separate them. Ray provided a voice of reason and got Rhino and Brother Devon to shake hands. Everything appeared to be okay until Rhino turned around and Gored Ray before taking off.
Lauren caught up with Hernandez who claimed he didn't need a partner for his tag team match against Kurt Angle and Eric Young. Matt Morgan walked in and said that he wanted Angle as bad as Hernandez wanted Young, so he was asking to be in the match. Hernandez agreed and spoke a bit in Spanish, as Morgan put his arm around him and replied "Yeah, what he said."
In the backstage area, Jeremy Borash talked to Mick Foley, who was angry about the Tweet N' Tweak caricature getting destroyed. Borash tried to cheer him up, saying that he heard their trading card was going for $300. Foley said to find the guy who was selling them and he would have the answer on who destroyed their caricature.
An AJ Styles package was shown.
AJ Styles was shown making his way into the Impact Zone.
AJ Styles entered the Impact Zone and thanked the TNA fans for all their support. He also thanked Sting and invited him to the ring. Sting came out and thanked Styles for asking him to join the celebration, but said it wasn't about him, it was about Styles. As Sting went to leave, Styles stopped him and said he knows what he did at the pay-per-view. Sting acted like he had no idea what Styles was talking about. Styles said that Sting had the choice to pin Angle or take out Morgan and he let Styles get the win. Sting denied it and said Styles earned the title by wrestling the match of his life. Styles went on to say that Sting rose above and passed the torch to him. As a token of Styles' appreciation, he wanted to offer Sting a TNA Heavyweight Championship match at Bound For Glory in Sting's home state of California in front of his family and friends. Sting accepted and shook hands with Styles, who put over Sting saying that if he wanted to be the best, he had to beat the best. He told Sting that they were going to give the TNA fans something to remember, before hugging.

Match Four - Triple Threat Match - Samoa Joe vs. Daniels vs. Homicide
This match made its way to the floor, where Homicide tried to a use a steel chair, but was stopped by the referee. Booker T and Scott Steiner entered the Impact Zone, as the Invasion stepped aside and let Angle go. Angle threw up the Mafia sign as he walked by them on his way to the back.
Backstage, Jeremy Borash and Mick Foley interrogated The Motor City Machine Guns. Chris Sabin said they were innocent, because they were doing commentary when the caricature was destroyed. Foley said that they were still guilty of having the worst theme music in TNA. Ha, ha. Sabin said that the room had a surveillance camera in it, so they could watch that to find the culprit.
Mike Tenay and Taz hyped Christy Hemme vs. Traci Brooks in a battle of the Playboy models.
A pre-taped interview was shown where Lauren, with the help of an interpreter, interviewed Hamada in the bleachers of the Impact Zone. Alissa Flash crashed the interview and complained about not getting promo time for herself. Hamada told her that they could have a match, but Flash walked off. When Hamada least suspected, Flash attacked her and sent her down the bleachers, as security ran in to gain control of the situation.
Daffney was shown with Kevin Nash backstage. Nash was hitting on her and Daffney was going along with it, until she decided to elbow him below the belt and go on the attack. Dr. Stevie walked in and put a taser on Nash, complaining about Nash taking his $50,000.

After the match, Mick Foley berated Abyss for destroying his caricature. He hit Abyss over the head with the video tape and taunted him. Jeremy Borash came out and asked Foley what he was doing. Foley looked like he was leaving, but instead he grabbed a barbed wire baseball bat and beat on Abyss' head which was already busted open. Foley then left, as Abyss screamed "Why" from the center of the ring.
