RAW: Batista drops a bomb on RAW, Orton
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Batista at WWE Monday Night Raw. Photos by Mike Mastrandrea

Breaking Point. What can I say? Well, not much because I didnít see it, but Iím sure Monday Night Raw will fill me in. Trish Stratus is tonightís guest host in Toronto. Also, Batista has a big announcement (retirement is the hot rumor).

And WWE doesnít let me down with a montage of last nightís WWE championship match. John Cena made Orton quit and is the new WWE champion.

WWE doesnít hold us in suspense long, as Batista walks to the ring, with his arm still in a brace. Batista thanks the fans, and I feel a retirement speech coming on. The Animal has come back to say goodbye. Batista addresses the retirement rumors, but then Randy Orton just has to interrupt.

Orton isnít happy about losing the WWE title last night, but knowing Batista is retiring does cheer him up. Orton says no one cares he is leaving, so save us the speech. Orton then takes credit for making Batista retire. The Animal just laughs at Orton, who demands to know what is so funny. Batista says there are two things. First, Orton is so predictable, and second Batista knows something Randy doesnít. The Animal sheds the brace, and decks Orton. The Animal then makes a huge announcement: Batista is going to Smackdown!, but first Batista will have one last match on RAW, a No Holds Barred match against Randy Orton.

Finally, the woman of the hour, Trish Stratus is announced. She looks good as a brunette. Trish knows RAW, and she knows what we want. Trish also knows that Orton is owed a rematch, so at the next PPV, Orton will get his rematch. A Hell-in-the Cell match! Trish gets things started with a tag team match.

Match #1 Ė Kofi Kingston and Primo vs. Jack Swagger and The Miz

(Does WWE just pull names out of a hat to make these type of tag team matches?)

As Kofi fights Swagger, The Miz walks off with Kofiís US Title. Kingston is distracted, and Swagger hits the gut wrench powerbomb. Swagger covers for the win, as The Miz just walks away with Kofiís title.

Winner via pinfall: Jack Swagger and The Miz

Mickie James and Jerry Lawler at the announcer's table.
Divas Champion, Mickie James, joins King Lawler and Michael Cole at ringside for the next match, a number one contender match for the Divas Title.

Match #2 Ė Alicia Fox vs. Gail Kim

Alicia avoids Gail Kim coming off the top rope, and then kicks her in the back of the neck. Fox covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Alicia Fox

After the match, Fox stares Mickie James down from the ring.

Trish is in her office, which is decked out to promote her business. Beth Phoenix demands to know why she wasnít booked in the Diva match. Chris Jericho interrupts, and brings up their past. Trish likes his new partner, Big Show. Beth tells Trish she has no guts, because she retired. Trish says she will face her, and Jericho, in a mixed tag match.

Shawn Michaels whallops Ted DiBiase.
Match #3 Ė Ted DiBiase w/Cody Rhodes vs. Shawn Michaels w/ Triple H

Cody wants to know if we are ready, blatantly ripping off DX. (Um, I really canít take Rhodes seriously with that lisp of his.) Legacy are the only people to make DX tap out. Ted calls it historic.

DiBiase comes out like a house on fire, pummeling HBK. Michaels fights back with chops and connects with a swinging neck breaker. DiBiase shoots HBK off the ropes and nails a power slam. Dibiase kicks HBK in the face, and then hits a back body drop. Shawn slips from the ring, but right in front of Rhodes. HHH makes Rhodes back off, and Shawn climbs onto the apron. DiBiase brings Shawn in the hard way with a back suplex. He follows with a standing drop kick. DiBiase slaps on a head lock. Michaels fights his way out, blocks a drop kick, but DiBiase counters a figure four into a small package. HBK kicks out, and then slaps on the figure four. Rhodes distracts the ref, and Ted rakes the eyes to break the hold. DiBiase looks for the Million Dollar Dream; HBK breaks free by slamming Ted into the turnbuckle. Michaels sends DiBiase over the ropes. Ted gets back in, and turns into an inverted atomic drop. HBK build momentum with chops and then a flying forearm. HBK pummels DiBiase after a Thesz press, and climbs the turnbuckle. HBK drives an elbow into the heart of DiBiase. Shawn staggers into the corner, and starts to warm up the band. Cody pulls Shawn down and gets DiBiase disqualified.

Winner via disqualification: Shawn Michaels

Triple H slams Rhodes into the announce table, as Michaels and DiBiase brawl into the stands. Rhodes slams HHH into the ring steps, but Hunter tosses him into the crowd. Rhodes is brought back to the ring, as Hunter tosses him into a cameraman and we lose signal for half a second before going to commercial.

Match #4 Ė Hornswoggle and Evan Bourne vs. Chavo Guerrero and Carlito w/ Rosa Mendes

Hornswoggle wants to start the match, and he does by hitting Carlito in the knee and stealing Carlitoís apple. Hornswoggle makes a quick tag, and Bourne almost gets the pin with a sunset flip. Chavo tags in, and is drop kicks by Bourne. Chavo retreats to the apron, but is kicked to the floor by Hornswoggle. Carlito tags back in, slamming Bourne to the mat. Carlito then stomps Bourne into the corner. Chavo gets the tag, but Bourne connects with the head scissors. Chavo runs into a heel kick, but Carlito breaks the fall. Bourne counters a backstabber, and pulls Chavo into the corner. Bourne makes the tag, and then flies over the top rope to knocks Carlito off the apron. Chavo gets to his feet, and cuts Hornswoggle off on the top rope. Hornswoggle spits apple into the face of Chavo and finishes him off with the tadpole splash, getting the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Hornswoggle and Evan Bourne

After the match, Chavo wonders what he has to do to beat Hornswoggle. He tells Hornswoggle it is over and gives up.

Josh Matthews interviews the new WWE Champion John Cena. The champ says he wanted to give up, but he had to keep his word. Cena addresses the rematch, promising that we will see a more brutal version of Cena at Hell in a Cell.

Okay, the next PPV is actually called Hell in a Cell. And DX will take on Legacy in a Hell in a Cell.

Match #5 Ė Trish Stratus and MVP vs. Beth Phoenix and Chris Jericho

Trish and Beth start the match. Phoenix picks Trish up and slams her into the corner. Stratus fights back with forearm shivers and then a chop to the chest. Phoenix jabs Trish in the throat, but Trish ducks a clothesline. Jericho breaks up a pin, but MVP clotheslines him out of the ring. MVP then slams him into the ring barrier, as Big Show runs out to make the save. Show gets Jericho and Phoenix disqualified. Mark Henry also runs down to save MVP.

Trish grabs the microphone, saying it isnít going down like that. Itís now a six-person tag.

Mark Henry, Trish Stratus and MVP.
Match #5 Ė Trish Stratus, Mark Henry and MVP vs. Beth Phoenix, The Big Show and Chris Jericho

We come back from the commercials with the match in progress. Big Show softens up MVP for Jericho, who hits MVP with a head butt. MVP ducks a clothesline and gets near fall with a roll up. Jericho takes a cheap shot at Henry, distracting the ref, and allowing Jericho to pull MVP across the ring. MVP hits a back elbow, but Jericho catches himself on the ropes and makes a tag to Phoenix. MVP thinks he needs to tag Trish, but Beth wants a piece of him. MVP catches Phoenix by the leg on an attempted kick, and tags in Trish. Stratus hits a Thesz press, and follows with a double Balliní Elbow with MVP. Jericho pulls Phoenix out of the ring, but goes after Jericho. Trish is tripped up by Big Show coming off the ropes. Phoenix scrambled back into the ring, but canít get the cover. Trish recovers and hits the Stratusfaction and cover Phoenix for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Trish Stratus, Mark Henry and MVP

After the match, MVP joins Henry in the ring to celebrate.

Match #6 Ė Batista vs. Randy Orton Ė No Holds Barred Match

Orton slides out of the ring, grabbing a chair right away. Batista cuts him off, tossing Orton back into the ring. Orton looks for a DDT off the ropes, but Batista powers his way into the ring. Batista explodes off the ropes with a clothesline. Orton slides out of the ring, looking for a weapon. Batista cuts him off with a clothesline. Back in the ring, Orton thumbs Batista in the eye, and then stomps away at him on the mat. Orton drops a knee onto the head of the Animal, and then goes back to the chair. Batista cuts him off with a spear, and Orton goes back the floor. The Animal follows tosses Orton over the announce table and into the barricade. Batista then drops Orton onto the barricade. Orton is then whipped into the ring steps. Batista counters an RKO with a sidewalk slam, and Orton rolls out of the ring again. Orton makes his way up the ramp, only to be tossed back into the ring by John Cena. Batista hits a spinebuster and follows with the Batista Bomb. The Animal covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Batista
