Impact: The Elite Mafia grows stronger
By CHRIS & BRYAN SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
The war between the Frontline and the Main Event Mafia continues tonight on Impact, as AJ Styles and Daniels re-join forces to do battle with Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe in the main event. Plus, the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament continues with more first round action, Cody Deaner squares off against Tara in an MMA Rules match and "The Monster" Abyss goes to war with Dr. Stevie.
Match One - Four Way Tag Team Match - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) vs. The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams) vs. Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) vs. Booker T and Scott Steiner
The show starts off in the ring. Lots of back and forth action here. Team 3D had the match won, after hitting the 3D on Scott Steiner, but Booker T made the save. Brutus Magnus snuck in the back door and made another cover while Steiner was still down and that was enough to get the three and give The British Invasion the victory.
Winners Via Pinfall - The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams)
After the match, Kurt Angle was shown flipping out, while Booker T, Scott Steiner and The British Invasion got into it. Security stepped in to take control of the situation.
Kurt Angle was shown yelling at Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams, until Eric Young stepped in and told him he should know better.
Mike Tenay and Taz ran down the rest of the card for Impact.
Kurt Angle entered the Impact Zone and called out Matt Morgan. Morgan hit the ring and Angle told him that he is just about there to becoming a Main Event Mafia member. Morgan guessed that he would have to do something else to prove himself and Angle agreed. Sting and AJ Styles came out next, with Sting getting right up in on Angle and calling him out. Angle fired back, telling Sting to shut up and saying that he doesn't really want to pass the torch to Styles. Angle went on talk about how Sting is using Styles to eventually win the title, while he sort of admitted to using Morgan to keep it. Morgan played more games with Angle and said that if he was going to use, he wanted to be used tonight. Morgan then offered his services to Angle, saying he would be in his corner for the main event.
Lauren spoke to Earl Hebner and asked him why he disqualified Hernandez last week. Hebner shot off on her and said not to question him.
Jeremy Borash was shown with Mick Foley and his kids in Foley's office. Foley talked about his match with Kevin Nash at Hard Justice and their rematch which will take place next week. Dr. Stevie knocked on the door and entered the office, leading to Foley making a match for him later on against "The Monster" Abyss.
Match Two - TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament First Round Match - Alissa Flash and Daffney vs. Sarita and Taylor Wilde
Sarita and Taylor Wilde worked very well as a tag team here, taking the offense right to Alissa Flash and Daffney. Sarita scored the pin for her team after hitting Flash with a belly-to-belly suplex.
Winners Via Pinfall - Sarita and Taylor Wilde
Jeremy Borash talked to Eric Young, who said that maybe Kurt Angle was going to get what he deserved. He then invited Angle to come talk to him anytime.
Lauren spoke to Suicide, who promised to take care of "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero.
The Motor City Machine Guns came out to do their own bit of commentary for the next match.
Match Three - D'Angelo Dinero vs. Jay Lethal
Jay Lethal came right after D'Angelo Dinero and took him to the floor. The match made it's way back into the ring, with Dinero taking a couple of shortcuts along the way. The Elijah Express/Lungblower combo did the trick however, giving Dinero some steam going into his impending bout with Suicide.
Winner Via Pinfall - D'Angelo Dinero
The Main Event Mafia and The World Elite faced off. Kurt Angle complained to Eric Young about what Brutus Magnus did earlier on, but Young didn't want to hear it. He said that he wasn't going to apologize for what happened. Young told Angle that the agreement was to do whatever it takes to win. Young told Angle that they needed to stay together, or they would both fall. Angle agreed and that was that.
Angelina Love and Velvet Sky were shown making their way to the Impact Zone.
Match Four - TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament First Round Match - The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) vs. Madison Rayne and Roxxi
Roxxi was Madison Rayne's surprise partner and she came back swinging. Roxxi had things going in her favor, until she wound up on the floor with Velvet Sky. Meanwhile in the ring, Angelina Love got the schoolgirl roll-up on Rayne and hooked the tights to get the pin and advance in the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Title Tournament.
Winners Via Pinfall - The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky)
Cody Deaner was shown with Jeremy Borash and Mick Foley. Deaner talked about his TNA Knockouts Championship match with ODB at No Surrender and asked for a warm-up match on Impact, which Foley granted him.
Mick Foley came out to join Mike Tenay and Taz on commentary for the next match.
Match Five - Dr. Stevie vs. Abyss
Dr. Stevie jump started the match with an attack on Abyss, but "The Monster" was able to battle back and hit the Black Hole Slam to walk out victorious.
Winner Via Pinfall - Abyss
After the match, Kevin Nash came out to attack Abyss, but Mick Foley got involved and made the save.
The World Elite made their way to the ring, with Eric Young calling for Hernandez to come out and join them. Hector Guerrero came out and told Young to end this whole thing. Young said he respected the Guerreros, which is why he wasn't going to attack Hector, but he also said that it wasn't over with Hernandez.
Tara was shown making her way to the Impact Zone in MMA attire.
A package was shown to highlight the feud between Tara and Cody Deaner.
Match Six - MMA Rules Match - Tara vs. Cody Deaner
Tara was all over Cody Deaner in this match, until Deaner accidentally punched the referee. While the referee was down, Awesome Kong came out and hit the Implant Buster on Tara, taking her out of the equation. The ref woke up, saw Tara down and awarded the match to Deaner via knockout.
Winner Via Knockout - Cody Deaner
Lauren spoke to Cody Deaner, who gloated about his tainted victory and promised to win the TNA Knockouts Championship at No Surrender.
Mike Tenay and Taz ran down the card for No Surrender.
Footage was shown of Rhino attacking Bobby Lashley while he was working out at the gym.
Match Seven - Daniels and AJ Styles w/ Sting vs. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe w/ Matt Morgan
This was a good back and forth match. Samoa Joe tried to get a chair and use it, but Sting caught him. Matt Morgan grabbed a chair of his own and encouraged Kurt Angle to send AJ Styles into it, but Styles reversed and Angle took the chair, knocking him silly and allowing him to get rolled up for the pin.
Winners Via Pinfall - Daniels and AJ Styles
After the match, Matt Morgan got in the ring and explained himself to Kurt Angle, who retaliated with a slap. Morgan then kicked him and hit the Hellevator.
Backstage, The World Elite attacked Homicide and were carrying him to the ring.
Back from a commercial break, The World Elite were in the ring with Homicide. They had Homicide down, as Eric Young called for Hernandez to come out. Hernandez ran to the ring and cleaned house. Young attempted to use a chair on Hernandez, but he blocked it and sent Young running. Hernandez checked on Homicide, as Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams tried to get back in the ring, only to get knocked down again. Homicide then hit Hernandez with the chair from behind and began his attack on him. The rest of the World Elite joined in before covering Hernandez with the Mexican Flag. After the attack, The World Elite stood tall and celebrated their dominance.
