ECW: An odd show
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Syfy: Instead of spending time on new stuff that actually matters right now, we are treated to a replay of the epic WrestleMania 25 match between Shawn Michaels and Undertaker. Also, Abraham Washington has a new sidekick and the feud between Sheamus and Goldust appears to be at an end. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Cleveland, Ohio. Josh Mathews and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - Shelton Benjamin (Orangeburg, S.C.) vs. Zack Ryder (Long Island, N.Y.)

Backbody drop and clothesline land for Benjamin but he goes for the Stinger Splash but Ryder moves. Ryder hits a flying leg lariat for two and locks in a crossface into a chinlock. Benjamin gets to a vertical base and escapes and leaps to the top rope and hits a flying forearm.

Benjamin goes to work with another backbody drop and does hit the Stinger Splash this time. Benjamin with a backbreaker. He follows up with a springboard blockbuster and finishes Ryder off with Paydirt.

Winner via pinfall: Shelton Benjamin

Tony Atlas is out to welcome us to The Abraham Washington Show with tonight's guest, Gregory Helms.

Washington opens with his monologue. Standard fare. Then he welcomes out Gregory Helms.

Helms denies being The Hurricane. Atlas is just chuckling the whole time. Washington then brings out Paul and Katie Lea Burchill. Burchill talks then the "Hurri-cam" comes on the Tron where The Hurricane says he is on assignment in Gotham City and next week, he'll be back on ECW and challenges Burchill. Burchilll tells Helms he'll see him next week and walks to the back.

Match #2 - Kozlov (Moscow, Russia) & Ezekiel Jackson (Harlem, N.Y.) vs. Jim Parks & Mike Tolar (combined weight of 415 pounds)

They kill the poor guys.

Winners via pinfall: Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson

Regal adds insult to injury by locking in the Regal Stretch on one of the poor saps and then Christian comes out to the stage. Regal welcomes him to come fight and he says he's not coming alone and Tommy Dreamer comes out. Regal laughs at this. He says is either of them takes a step toward the ring it's going to be the biggest mistake of their lives. Dreamer then pulls Singapore cane's out of his back and they go to work on the attacking Kozlov and Jackson on the ramp. They enter the ring and Regal scurries. Kozlov and Jackson try to enter the ring but Regal pulls them back.

Match #3 - Extreme Rules - Sheamus (Dublin, Ireland) vs. Goldust (Hollywood, Calif.)

This has actually been coined a "no count out, no disqualification match." So I put Extreme Rules since that what that is. I wonder if they are phasing out that term.

They brawl up the ramp.

Sheamus goes to work and this is essentially a regular match. And it continues to be a regular match, complete with bodyslams, chinlocks and inside cradles.

Finally Sheamus escapes to the outside. Goldust hits a flying clothesline off the apron but Sheamus rams him back-first into the ringpost. Goldust returns the favor, only face-first. Goldust goes for a running bulldog but Sheamus pushes him off then stomps a mudhole in him in the corner. Sheamus hits the Irish Curse and that's it. Thank goodness.

Winner via pinfall; Sheamus
