Impact: An Elite Mafia is formed
By CHRIS & BRYAN SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

After suffering a loss last week at the hands of Mick Foley and Bobby Lashley that cost them the TNA Legends Championship, the Main Event Mafia is out for revenge. This week on Impact, Kurt Angle tests the "strength in numbers" theory, as he joins forces with Eric Young and The World Elite to stage a complete TNA takeover. Will the "Elite Mafia" succeed, or will the Frontline continue to fend off the fight?

The show began with a recap of last week's Impact, where Mick Foley captured the TNA Legends Championship.

Kurt Angle and Eric Young were shown getting out of a limo together, as the TNA Impact opener aired.

Mike Tenay hyped the show, including the second match the best of three series between AJ Styles and Matt Morgan.

The Main Event Mafia entered the Impact Zone and Kurt Angle grabbed the mic. Angle complained about the outcome of last week's tag team main event and said he complained to the board of directors about Mick Foley being the TNA Legends Champion. Angle said that they "agreed" that the match wasn't fair, but said they would let the decision stand, provided Foley defends the title against Kevin Nash at Hard Justice. Angle talked about looking out for the family and announced that he struck a deal to do business with The World Elite. Eric Young took a mic and talked about how his group is ready to do whatever it takes to help the Mafia's cause. Young told his group to "let the cleansing begin."

Jeremy Borash spoke to Mick Foley, who said that tonight was going to be a night that they would never forget. Sting and Bobby Lashley walked into the room, as Sting told Foley it was showtime. The three competitors then left the room together.

Lauren talked to Daniels, who said that he was going to make an example out of Eric Young in their match. Lauren pointed out that Young was waiting in the ring with Sheik Abdul Bashir and Kiyoshi. The Motor City Machine Guns walked in and talked about how they haven't been on TV lately. Daniels flipped on them and said that all their jobs were in jeopardy and that they could help by accompanying him to the ring for his match.

Match One - Eric Young w/ Kiyoshi and Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Daniels w/ The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

The Motor City Machine Guns pretty much ignored the gang beating taking place on Daniels throughout the match. Daniels almost had the match won when he hooked Eric Young for the Angels Wings, but Sheik Abdul Bashir distracted the referee and Kiyoshi spit the mist at Daniels. This allowed Young to gather his bearings and hit the piledriver on Daniels for the pin.

Winner Via Pinfall - Eric Young

Mike Tenay and Don West hyped the rest of the show.

Backstage, Lauren caught up with Beer Money Inc. and Team 3D. Robert Roode talked about Eric Young and said he forgot where he came from. Roode said that he wasn't going to let him dictate his future. Team 3D then got on Young and complained about how he cost them the IWGP Tag Team titles, before ragging on The British Invasion.

Introductions took place for an eight man tag team match.

Match Two - Eight Man Tag Team Match - Doug Williams, Rob Terry, Scott Steiner and Booker T w/ Brutus Magnus and Sharmell vs. Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

This match eventually broke down into an all out brawl, with Mafia members, Elite members, Mick Foley, Sting, Bobby Lashley and others getting involved. In the ring, Rob Terry finished off Robert Roode to get the pinfall, as the rest of the competitors duked it out on the floor.

Winners Via Pinfall - Doug Williams, Rob Terry, Scott Steiner and Booker T

The brawl was covered from a variety of angles, as just pure mayhem ensued. Eventually the local police came to maintain order. Very good job with this brawl, it certainly helped push this feud along nicely and gave it that gang warfare feel.

Mike Tenay and Don West recapped the brawl.

Match Three - Sarita and Taylor Wilde vs. Alissa Flash and Traci Brooks

Mike Tenay plugged the Steel Asylum match at Hard Justice and announced that it would feature the return of Suicide. Good match here, with Sarita getting the pin on Alissa Flash, just as she did in her debut.

Winners Via Pinfall - Sarita and Taylor Wilde

After the match, Alissa Flash and Traci Brooks attacked Sarita and Taylor Wilde.

Lauren talked to The Beautiful People backstage, who whined about Cody Deaner kissing Angelina Love last week. They announced that at Hard Justice, it will be Angelina Love and Velvet Sky vs. ODB and Cody Deaner. Interesting.

Kip James was shown picking up garbage backstage. Hernandez walked in and asked him what happened and James asked where he had been, saying that a big brawl had taken place. Oh why is Kip still a janitor?

Lauren interviewed AJ Styles, who said he was focused on Matt Morgan and getting into the Three Way TNA Heavyweight Championship match at Hard Justice.

Mike Tenay and Don West then hyped Hard Justice and the upcoming house shows.

A package was shown highlighting Hernandez.

Mike Tenay did a pre-taped sit down interview with Hernandez who talked about his injury. Hernandez also talked about Homicide and said that no matter, he would always be his brother.

Lauren caught up with Homicide backstage, who talked about his TNA X Division Championship match with Samoa Joe. Homicide said that the 187 is stronger than the 13, referring to Taz.

Matt Morgan was shown walking through the backstage area.

Match Four - Match #2 in a Best of Three Series to determine the third competitor in the TNA Heavyweight Championship Match at Hard Justice - Matt Morgan vs. AJ Styles

AJ Styles put up a fight, but Matt Morgan hit the Hellevator and got the pin to even their series at one match each.

Winner Via Pinfall - Matt Morgan - Series is tied 1-1

A vignette was shown to hype the arrival of "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, who is apparently coming to TNA on August 16 at Hard Justice. Wonder if he's taking the Elijah Express to get there.

In the backstage area, Jeremy Borash caught Kurt Angle as he was leaving. Angle took off, as Abyss was shown cowering, saying that he didn't know who to trust since Dr. Stevie put a $50,000 bounty on him. Lethal Consequences entered the scene and attempted to cash in, but instead got left laying.

A TNA hype video aired.

Sting was shown walking backstage, as Mike Tenay hyped his in-ring return to Impact.

Match Five - Brutus Magnus w/ Doug Williams and Rob Terry vs. Sting

The referee ejected Doug Williams and Rob Terry from ringside before the match got underway. Brutus Magnus had things well at hand, until Sting caught him jumping off the ropes and locked in the Scorpion Deathlock for the submission victory.

Winner Via Submission - Sting

After the match, Brutus Magnus attacked Sting, who fought him off, until the rest of The World Elite came out and beat on him. Eric Young and Sting came face-to-face, but didn't hit each other. The beating continued, until Bobby Lashley and Mick Foley entered the ring. The Main Event Mafia hit the ring and that was enough to put Lashley, Foley and Sting down. As The Elite Mafia stood tall, Hernandez came out with a steel chain swinging and cleaned house, rounding out another episode of Impact.

Chris and Bryan Sokol are from Long Island, NY and enjoy tag team reporting for SLAM! Wrestling.
