Impact: Angle reclaims his gold
By CHRIS & BRYAN SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

After having his belt stolen by "The Icon" Sting last week, TNA Heavyweight Champion and Main Event Mafia leader Kurt Angle will see action on tonight's episode of Impact, as he competes in a three-way non-title match against TNA management members, Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley. Plus, Tara's chase for the Knockouts title continues, while Homicide makes his return to the Impact Zone.

The show began with a recap of last week's episode.

The TNA Impact opener aired, followed by the usual introduction from Mike Tenay and Don West.

Mick Foley entered the Impact Zone with a bandage over his nose as a result of the guitar shot from Jeff Jarrett last week. Foley said that he decided TNA couldn't have two authority figures and that either he or Jarrett had to step down. With that, he called out "The King of the Mountain," who was also wearing a bandage as a result of last week's melee. Jarrett talked to Foley about how the two of them could take care of the Main Event Mafia problem, but not if they won all the titles in TNA. Foley agreed. Foley told Jarrett that he has something to prove to himself at Victory Road and that's why he is going up against Kurt Angle for the TNA Heavyweight Championship. He put over Angle for being great and said he wants to get in the ring and hang with him. Foley offered Jarrett a non-title match with Angle later on, but Jarrett made a counter-offer of a three-way dance. Foley agreed and said that he didn't want people to think they were in cahoots, so he was going to let Angle choose a guest referee. Jarrett said that as long as it wasn't somebody from the Mafia or Matt Morgan, he was fine with that. The co-executive shareholders shook hands and and headed backstage to get ready for the main event.

Backstage, Lauren spoke to the British Invasion about Doug Williams' ladder match with Homicide for the TNA X Division title shot briefcase that they took from "The Notorious 187" in the first place.

Match One - Ladder Match for the TNA X Division Title Shot Briefcase - Doug Williams w/ Brutus Magnus and Rob Terry vs. Homicide

A ladder match, why? Team 3D came out during the match and took the fight to the British Invasion, allowing Homicide to climb the ladder and retrieve his briefcase for the win.

Winner and NEW Number One Contender to the TNA X Division Championship - Homicide

After the match, Sheik Abdul Bashir and Kiyoshi ran out to help the British Invasion beat down Team 3D. The whole foreign faction is progressing nicely.

A Mick Foley video was shown.

Mike Tenay and Don West ran down the rest of the show from ringside.

A sit down interview between Mike Tenay and Suicide was shown. Tenay talked about how Suicide wrote the lyrics to his own entrance. Suicide said that he is the "Dark Savior" and that he doesn't represent the end, he represents the beginning.

A recap of Sting saving AJ Styles from the Main Event Mafia last week was shown.

Sting entered the Impact Zone with the TNA Heavyweight Championship belt. "The Icon" grabbed the mic and said that if Kurt Angle wanted his belt back, he could come get it, but first he wanted to talk to Samoa Joe. The newest member of the Mafia joined Sting in the ring, as Don West said that Joe's adviser would be revealed at Victory Road. Sting told Joe that he took a payoff at his expense and that he was going to fight until things were right again. Joe went off on Sting and challenged Sting to do something. Joe said that he was instructed to keep his temper in check. Sting questioned Joe as to who his adviser was, but Joe responded only by saying that he would find out at Victory Road. Sting told Joe that he was going to go into the darkness and find the adviser, drag him to the ring and beat him. Sting stormed off as Joe looked on and smiled.

Lauren caught up with Jenna Morasca who talked about hiring a trainer for her match with Sharmell at Victory Road. Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed walked in and left with Morasca. Again, why is Morasca vs. Sharmell on the pay-per-view card?

Scott Steiner and Booker T came out to join Mike Tenay and Don West on commentary.

Match Two - Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) vs. The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

Booker T and Scott Steiner on commentary is great. Beer Money Inc. hit the DWI on Alex Shelley and picked up the victory.

Winners Via Pinfall - Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode)

In the backstage area, Angelina Love complained about the spider that Tara has been carrying around. Velvet Sky got in her face and said that she either has her back in her match with Tara or she was done with her. Sky walked away as Love said the spider crawled up her butt last week.

A video was shown of Sarita who is debuting next week on Impact.

Match Three - Velvet Sky w/ Angelina Love and Madison Rayne vs. Tara

Velvet Sky got some shots in, but Tara was able to fight back and put her away with the Widow's Peak.

Winner Via Pinfall - Tara

After the match, Tara took the tarantula out and stood over Velvet Sky. Angelina Love grabbed the mic and challenged Tara to a match. Tara said that would be fine as long as the TNA Knockouts Championship was on the line. Madison Rayne pushed Love to say yes, which she did and after a commercial break, the match was on.

Match Four - TNA Knockouts Championship Match - Angelina Love w/ Madison Rayne (C) vs. Tara

TNA referee Rudy Charles ejected Madison Rayne from ringside early in the match, leaving Angelina Love all on her own. Love was able to get a couple of near falls in, but just like Velvet Sky, fell victim to the Widow's Peak for the three count. Too fast to give Tara the belt, but oh well.

Winner Via Pinfall and NEW TNA Knockouts Champion - Tara

Mike Tenay and Don West ran down the card for Victory Road.

Footage was shown from earlier in the week of Abyss visiting Dr. Stevie's office. Stevie was calm and relaxed, as Abyss came at him, only to start twitching and rolling around. Stevie said that he put a drug in Abyss' water that wouldn't allow him to move a muscle. Stevie then slapped "The Monster" around and hit him on the head with a glass. Interesting segment.

Match Five - AJ Styles and Daniels vs. Matt Morgan and Kevin Nash

AJ Styles and Daniels were able to double team Matt Morgan and keep him down for the pin.

Winners Via Pinfall - AJ Styles and Daniels

After the match, Kevin Nash hit AJ Styles with a steel chair. Matt Morgan took a steel chair and put it over Daniels leg and stomped away on it.

Outside the Impact Zone, Lauren was giving an update on Sting's search for Samoa Joe's adviser. Sting was shown walking with a towel over his head when a car approached him. Sting grabbed the driver, as Samoa Joe snuck up from behind and choked him out.

Eric Young entered the Impact Zone to serve as the special guest referee for the main event. Good call here.

Match Six - Three Way Dance Non-Title Match - Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Mick Foley - Guest Referee - Eric Young

Lots of shenanigans here. During the match, it was announced that AJ Styles took Daniels to the hospital to treat the ankle that was injured by Matt Morgan. Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley were working well together, until Jarrett hit Foley from behind with a Stroke on the ring steps on the outside. Jarrett had the match won, but Eric Young refused to count the three. As Jarrett went to use his guitar on Young, Foley caught him with the Mandible Claw. Young continued his antics and called for the bell as Kurt Angle had Foley in an ankle lock submission, even though Foley was clearly saying that he didn't want to submit.

Winner Via Submission - Kurt Angle

After the match, Jeff Jarrett chased Eric Young out of the ring. Mick Foley went right back on the attack of Kurt Angle and used the Mandible Claw on him. Samoa Joe ran out with the TNA Heavyweight Championship belt and beat on the co-executive shareholder. Booker T, Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash came out with barbed wire and wrapped Foley in it. They then beat him with a barbed wire baseball bat. The former Main Event Mafia security ran out to make the save, but were also beaten down, as Angle stood tall with the TNA Heavyweight Championship belt.
