ECW: Scrambling to The Bash
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: With less than a week to go before the ECW Championship Scramble at The Bash, four of the five competitors meet in a tag team match in the main event, as Jack Swagger teams with Mark Henry to face Christian and Tommy Dreamer. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Green Bay, Wis. Josh Mathews and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - Evan Bourne (St. Louis, MO) vs. Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta)

Oh, this should be good.

Our referee evens things up quickly by kicking David Hart Smith and Natalya out for standing on the apron.

Bourne hits a dropkick and Kidd bails to the outside, where Bourne hits a flying clotheslines to an "ECW" chant. LOL.

Back in the ring, Kidd gets control and starts working on Bourne's injured ribs (thanks, Mark Henry). Kidd front-suplex's Bourne over the top rope. He throws Bourne into the corner and charges, where Bourne counters and hits a weird splash from the ropes.

A roll-up by Bourne gets a short cover and then Bourne starts landing some kicks. Kidd springboards off the top rope but Bourne ducks under and hits a hurricarana. Kidd flies off the ropes and runs right into a knee to the head that sends Kidd down. Bourne then climbs up and hits the Shooting Star Press for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Evan Bourne

I can't believe that match was so short. It didn't build to the finish whatsoever. It just sorta stopped.

Finlay takes the mic before the match and explains why he attacked Christian and Tommy Dreamer last week. He says he's upset because they only texted him to apologize and never called. He said he worried for his family and the ability to pay the bills. He's then interrupted by his opponent: Zack Ryder. Woo woo woo.

You know it.

Match #2 - Finlay (Belfast, Northern Ireland) vs. Zack Ryder (Long Island, N.Y.)

Match is already in progress after break and Ryder's "Woo woo woo" headband is already off. Finlay locks in a hammerlock and he is going to work on Ryder's right arm. A European uppercut sends Ryder to the mat. Ryder eventually gains control and works a headlock. Ryder gets him down and goes to the top rope but Finlay gets the leg up and Finlay starts to come back.

Finlay hits a big kick to the face and some clotheslines and a backdrop. Finlay charges at Ryder, though, and Ryder pulls him eye-first onto the second rope. The ref makes Ryder back off and so he goes to the corner to pull off the turnbuckle pad. When the ref goes to stop him, Finlay rolls him up and pulls the trunks for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Finlay

Matt Striker is in the ring with a chalkboard to break down the Scramble Match for the ECW Championship. He throws it to the back with Gregory Helms, who is interviewing Mark Henry. Henry starts talking and then a huge box falls on a crew member. All the usual idiots charge but they can't do anything. They cut back to the interview area and Helms is nowhere to be found. Then they cut back to the accident and a man in green, potentially a Hurricane, helps them lift the box off the man. He flies away and the camera comes back and Helms is back for the interview, adjusting his suit. He asks Henry about his match tonight like nothing happened. Henry asks what's going on around here and everyone looks dumbfounded.

Match #3 - Jack Swagger (Perry, Okla.) & Mark Henry (Silsbee, Texas) vs. Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.) & Christian (Toronto, Ontario)

Swagger and Henry double team Dreamer. Henry stands on Dreamer's chest and pulls up on the ropes for leverage. The crowd tries to get behind Dreamer but that's squashed when he bounces off Henry in a violent matter.

Swagger back in and Dreamer is able to fight him off and both men tag. Christian tries to get Henry off his feet to no avail. It finally takes a missile dropkick to do the deed, but it gets two. Swagger comes in for some but Christian dispatches him to the outside.

Christian goes for the springboard sunset flip, but Henry holds on to the ropes. Swagger tags Henry's fist as he holds on. Henry gives him an incredulous look and then misses the sit-down.

Swagger comes in and immediately goes for the gut-wrench powerbomb, but Christian counters into a roll-up for two. He then hits the Killswitch, but he's too close to the ropes and Atlas pulls Swagger's foot under the rope and alerts the referee. Then Dreamer comes flying off the apron onto Atlas and pounds him out. Henry's on the outside and Christian jumps at him, but Henry catches him and rams him back-first into the post. He throws him back in the ring where Swagger hits the gut-wrench for the win.

Winners via pinfall: Jack Swagger & Mark Henry

After the match, Dreamer comes to check on Christian and Henry comes up from behind and grabs him for the World's Strongest Slam. Swagger then stands over them and Henry doesn't discriminate, as Swagger eats a WSS as well. Play his music.
