ECW: Dreamer lays out champ following great match
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: Extreme Rules is less than a week away and ECW Champion Christian has a tough test, facing Hart Dynasty member Tyson Kidd. But it'd be the ECW Original Tommy Dreamer that would get the last laugh in what could be his final appearance in the Land of Extreme. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Memphis. Josh Mathews and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - Evan Bourne (St. Louis, MO) vs. Mark Henry (Silsbee, Texas)

Of course, this is a rematch of last week's match where Bourne defeated Henry by countout.

Bourne uses his quickness early to go after Henry's knees but he comes off the ropes and Henry is waiting for him to brutally knock him down.

Henry takes Bourne and stretches him out across the ring post. That hurt. They go back in the ring where Henry continues to dominate the action, dishing out punishment at will. Bourne is able to move out of the way of a big splash. He gets some kicks in before Henry catches him coming off the second rope and gives him a fallaway slam that sends him flying under the bottom rope and out of the ring.

The referee blocks Henry from going out of the ring. Bourne recovers and goes to the top rope, where Tony Atlas holds his leg. The referee turns around and sees it and calls for the bell.

Winner via disqualification: Evan Bourne

Henry charges at Bourne after the match, but Bourne low-bridges him. Henry then exchanges tense words with Atlas, upset that he cost him the match.

Match #2 - Zack Ryder (Long Island, N.Y.) vs. Dustin Carwile (212 pounds)

Woo woo woo! You know it!

Ryder's headband says "Woo woo woo." Beautiful.

Mathews lets us know that Ryder told him he is rejuvenated because of his haircut.

Ryder lands the first significant move with a missile dropkick and follows it up with his finisher for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Zack Ryder

Gregory Helms is backstage with Finlay and his eye is jacked. He says he'll go an eye for an eye with Jack Swagger after their match on Superstars last week.

Match #3 - Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.) vs. Paul Burchill (Chelsea, England)

They are billing this as potentially Dreamer's last match on ECW. I can't believe he's actually going to get a win on TV here. He probably hasn't had a win since the Colin Delaney era.

Burchill takes the early part of the match working on Dreamer's neck. The crowd actually starts to get behind him with "Let's go Dreamer" and "Tommy!" chants. Burchill makes one mistake and Dreamer catches him with a Russian leg sweep.

Dreamer sends Burchill into the corner and hits a bulldog off the rebound. Dreamer hits a reverse DDT but Dreamer can't get the cover. Burchill recovers and hits a Brainbuster for two. Burchill charges at Dreamer, who is in the corner, but Dreamer moves and catches Burchill with the DDT on the way out.

Winner via pinfall: Tommy Dreamer

Well, we get back from break and Dreamer is still in the ring. He wants to say thank you because that might've been his last match on ECW television. He's going to try hard not to make that happen, but he wants to take the opportunity to say goodbye. The fans scream "NO!" and then Jack Swagger interrupts.

Swagger says after Sunday, he'll never have to hear Dreamer on his show. Dreamer says he's going to put his career and life on the line Sunday. He says next week he'll stand in the ring as the ECW Champion.

Match #4 - Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta) vs. Christian (Toronto, Ontario)

Real fast pace to start. Both men going hard and fast. Kidd is able to gain an advantage and lock in an armbar, but Christian quickly reverses to a side headlock. Kidd escapes and rams Christian's head into two corners. He goes to the second rope and comes down right into a flapjack. Christian hits DJ Gabriel's finisher and Kidd rolls to the apron. Christian follows and pulls Kidd's leg out from under him, sending him chin-first into the apron, but Christian gets distracted by David Hart Smith allowing Kidd to surprise the champ and tackle him into the steel steps.

We're back and Kidd is in control. Kidd rolls into a half-crab but Christian is able to roll around and kick Kidd in the face, but Kidd is able to keep the hold on and flips him back over. Christian does it again, but as Kidd is turning him back around, Christian gets a small package for two.

Christian gets the edge, ringing Kidd off the top rope and hitting a missile dropkick for two. Christian goes for the Killswitch but Kidd counters. Christian tries for a tornado DDT but Kidd gets out. Christian goes for a flying sunset flip but Kidd sits down for a two count.

Kidd tries a springboard off the top rope but Christian catches him for a powerslam for a two count. Christian hits his in-rope kick and goes to the top where he is distracted by Swagger. Kidd knocks Christian off the top and hits a guillotine leg-drop for a long two. Swagger starts climbing the steps when Dreamer comes out and pushes Swagger into Smith. He then hits a cannonball roll onto both of them.

Kidd then hits a baseball slide on Dreamer and takes out Christian's knee on the way back in. Kidd goes to throw Christian into the ring post but Christian reverses and sends Kidd there. Kidd stumbles out right into the Killswitch.

Winner via pinfall: Christian

Great match. Probably the best on the show since Bourne/Morrison in mid-April.

Dreamer enters the ring after the match and Christian shows him the belt. They shake hands and Dreamer doesn't let go, hitting the DDT, laying out the champ in the middle of the ring.
